  1. I am 2 months out on the 24th of January and I have lost 37 pounds from my weight on day of surgery. I thought it should be more but my doctor told me a few weeks ago that I was actually doing good. Im averaging about 5lbs a week which feels like it should be more because I have been following everything to the T and have introduced minimal carbs in very small portions and not with every meal. On the up side I feel great and have dropped two sizes. Ive been trying to stay off the scale and just let it happen in its own time. All we can do is our part and stay consistent, commited to ensure that the weight loss WILL catch up to our dedication and efforts eventually! Best wishes.

need advice in regards to vitamins

I ordered all my Vitamins from LuckyVitamins.com. I have Centrum chewables in orange flavor, calcium citrate wafers in citrus flavor, Vitamin D in a berry flavor and Iron is berry flavored too. My B12 is a nasal spray that I take once a week and I got that in a prescription from my nutritionalist and insurance pays for that. They arent that bad the worst one is the iron its a little bitter but its tolerable. The best part was the price I paid for all was really good considering other options out there.

    HELP

I am 12 days post-op and I am feeling great for the most part. My pain has gotten better every day but for the past 2 days have been constipated. I have been taking collace and getting in at least 50 to 55 ounces of fluids everyday. I took an extra collace today and still no movement. PLEASE ANY SUGGESTIONS would be greatly appreciated. :-(

    We are Rockstars

For me I couldnt stand the chair or the bed in the hospital!! I am 12 days post-op. My pain was bad in hospital too. It has gotten better each day. for past two days have only needed the pain med at night and Im trying not to take it tonight because it has constipated me terribly. I had to call my surgeon today beacuse i was miserable earlier. Someone said get some mineral oil and I read up on it and it said it can interfer with Vitamin absorption so i decided to call doc and he told me to take 1/2 bottle of Magnesium Citrate instead and it did the trick. Actually I found that the more I walk the less the pain once I stop. So just stay strong because it does get better. Like the previous posts.....WALK WALK WALK AND THEN WALK. that was my surgeons last words before I left hospital. Good luck.

  11. I am having my surgery tomorrow nov.24th and I've been preparing meals for my family and today I made some turkey meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy and it was tough because it smelled so good but I can't turn back now! I acutally have felt great physically on this pre-op diet. The first three days I was a little sluggish but after that I've been amped up for this new chapter in my life. Just be strong and hold onto all the beautiful reasons why you decided to get this done. It's so worth and you owe it to yourself to do this for you first and also for your daughters too. A happier and healthier you means everyone reaps the benefits. You got this stay strong. Best of wishes to you.

I Have No Motivation That Pushes Me

Good morning. I have been there before and it's a terrible feeling. Sadly while you are in that frame of mind not one person around you really gets it either. The only one who can help you is you. You should put in bold big writing some positive affirmations on paper and tape to the wall directly where you would look while laying in bed as well as other places. Such as; YOU CAN DO THIS, GET MOVING, YOU NEED THIS, I WANT TO LIVE, FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, I LOVE MYSELF, YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL etc. These are just some examples. Just make sure there all around you where ever you go in your house and say them outloud as you read them everytime you look at one. The idea is to eventually believe it so you can put it into your actions. Even if right now you don't feel that way but its all about changing your perception of yourself and your situation. Also it's all about baby steps to start. When you think that way at least sit up or stand up and walk to another part of house. You dont have to start with 30 minutes. Start with one or three minutes and just increase by minutes every other day and before you know it you WILL be doing 30 or more minutes eventually. It all starts in your mind. Also try watching motivational things on tv while laying down. Shows of a positive nature. I hope this helps you and I pray you find the strength to dig deep inside and change you into who you want to be. YOUR WORTH IT AND DESERVE TO FEEL HAPPY. God bless you.
  14. The last week and a half haven't been too bad on the pre-op diet. I'm excited but at same time getting more scared each day. My thoughts are all over the place. Anyone else almost there?

    Weird Appointment

I went to an orthopedic surgeon because I have a miniscus and she was completely against the surgery. She actually tried to talk me out of it. I just chalked it up to that doctors are just like some family or friends that don't agree with getting it. It's all personal preference I guess. Needless to say don't let nothing get in your way. My surgery is november 24th finally. Good luck to you and stay strong
  16. Hi bigjon76 Its nice to meet you too. I just got my surgery date on this past friday. Its on November 24th. I've been on cloud nine ever since. I feel exactly the same about not risking doing it on my own any longer. I'm 46 and have been blessed thus far considering being obese for so long without diabetes or high blood pressure until recently with pre diabetes and inconsistent blood pressure. So I welcome this new lifestyle change too. I am new to this site since September and haven't had much luck with people replying to my few posts I've made and I hope you have better luck than me. Wishing you a constant successfull journey. Looking forward to hearing how well you do with your surgery. Congrats

    28 days and counting!

Hi lashante23 I had a similar experience when my teenage son wanted me to ride a basic old school roller coaster and I figured that I could get the lap bar only restaint to close. Negative!!!! I was so embarrased and so ashamed when I saw the look on my sons face. It was like all eyes on the platform where on me and the whole space got extremely quiet. I told him to go ahead and ride it and he wouldnt without me which made me feel even worst. So needless to say thats one of the first things we're going to do is ride that rollercoaster. Best of success to you. Congrats to you.

    Pre-op 6 month diet plan

I also had to do 6 months of nutrional visits for insurance company. I asked at first appointment will they require specific weight loss for approval and she said no. I actually just got approved and scheduled surgery today for November 24th. Yeah I'm so excited. I had a few bumps in the road a few months ago with last two appointments with sleep study and cardiologist. Thankfully I'm almost there now. Whole process has been very affective as well as necesary. Well worth the wait.

    November 3rd surgery date

I'm a November baby too. This is truely going to be a rebirth for me because I have to bury ALL old unhealthy habits and live a new constant healthy lifestyle in all areas. I got my surgery date today and I am so excited!!!! My date is November 24th and I start my pre-op diet on november 10th. I live in Connecticut.
  20. About 12 years ago I was just doing research only on the bypass surgery and all my family and friends gave me all the negative reasons why I shouldn't do it. Needless to say they succeeded in discouraging me from doing it at that time. So here I am 12 years later still needing the surgery only this time when I told my family and friends there words could'nt get to me because I've done more than enough research to make a sound decision FOR ME! Some still are negative about it but I am stronger now more than ever to give them all the positive benefits without wavering. The biggest change is that I have made up my mind and I fully understand the level of change and commitment necesary. Everyone wants the support from our loved ones and friends but unfortunately some aren't going to be on the same page as you. I just choose to hope eventually they will come around once they see how dedicated I am to being sucessful. Best of wishes to you on your journey.
  21. Oh my goodness, I've been having, "my last time," moments off and on for last 9 months. I just found out today that my surgery date is November 24th so I'm sure I'm going to have a lot more before my pre-op appointment. LOL Best of Luck to you on your journey!!!
  22. Hello everyone. Wow its been a crazy, nerve racking, and at times discouraging past 9 months. I was very diligent in completing all my required appointments. My last one was the sleep study where they discovered that I had some irregular heartbeats while I slept. So I had to go back to cardiologist after being cleared for surgery previously. He put me on a holter moniter for 21 days and on the 16th day he discovered I had atrial fribulation (afib). So now I have to take three medications for that and I did an echocardiogram which was good so he finally recleared me for surgery. My projected surgery date was supposed to have back in September. Today I FINALLY have definate date in November....YEAHHHHHH!!!!!! Im so excited, anxious and scarred all at the same time. If there is anyone who's gone through this or similar please share to ease my concerns about the atrial fribulation subsiding after weight loss or being able to stop the three medications they put me on for it.

    A-Fib

I started doing all my pre-op doctor appointments in March 2014. I had Cardiologist, Endoscopy, sleep study and Psychological visits all done in 3 1/2 months. The only problem found from all appoinments at that time was a mild case of sleep apnea and they discovered a few PVC's while I slept during the study. So went back to cardiologist and he put me on a Holter moniter for 21 days. On the the 16th day doctor called me in for immediate visit with some new results from the moniter. The night before he saw A-Fib not PVC's which has resulted in having to take Eliquis, Flecainide, and Beta Blocker meds. Also I just had an Eco Cardiogram which results were fine. So at this point feeling a little discouraged because my surgery should have been in next few weeks. I do understand thats why they do all these different doctor visits/tests so there's no surprises during surgery and beyond. Basically I was wondering has anyone else had this type of delay and how long did it take for surgery clearance from cardiologist and Bariatric Surgeon. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
