@@laurenella82
great pics
not as smart as i look
but which one are you in the first pic???
cocktails, chips????
i know you will try and do better about those 2 evils
pretty sure Vitamins have nothing to do helping your weight loss, or stall situation
"normal" people should all be taking vitamins for their health
sleevers and all other WLS people especially need to take them too
i'm sure their are reasons about the new tummy et al that vitamins are important
not sure of the specifics
down 45 lbs, 2 dress sizes
"funny" interesting story about your beautiful dress and the slits
dress was too big before, look at you now ms. sexy
sounds like you have a good plan about eating a little better, exercising more
planning ahead is good
doing well my friend
keep going
kathy
good luck

Anyway, you keep up the good work!

These are great points that I try to remember every time I start to beat myself up about something I've eaten that I probably shouldn't have. My weakness is chips and I usually eat the entire bag through the day. Smh but in comparison to everything else I eat it's not bad.....as long as it's not every day.

I haven't posted in a while and I kind of regret it because you all keep me on the right track. I have my lap top at work now so I can stay logged in!
I haven't been doing terrible but I haven't been as good as I could. I have had some cocktails (not a lot at a time because I get drunk FAST now) and I have been eating more chips than I need. But I also get an average of 90g of Protein in a day and stay within my allowed calorie range (max 1100 but i average 900-1000 a day). So far I have lost about 45 lbs from my pre-op weight BUT I have stalled like crazy and I have gone down 2 sizes which makes it a little better.
NSV: My birthday was this past sunday and I spent it at a banquet celebrating my pastor's 25 anniversary with the church. I wore a satin pencil skirt that I purchased about 3 years ago and was never able to wear. It was so big that as I walked down the hall of the hotel, it turned COMPLETELY around. The split was in the front and if not for my hips it would have been in the floor!!! LOL!!!
So this is my progress so far and I plan to pick up n my exercise this week.
One question that I have: does taking Vitamins help with weight loss or stalls?? That's probably the one thing I have been really bad at....I haven't really taken any since surgery (mostly because I didn't have the money to get them but I will get them monday when I go to the doctor)

laurenella82 reacted to CanyonBaby in Fiber. Does anyone take fiber supplements? Chewables etc? I need fiber! :)
My NUT has recommended Benefiber (I use the Shopko brand, much cheaper). It works well, and keeps everything regular. No issues at all. Just mix it in Water or other beverage. It is clear and flavorless. You won't know it's there. Use it everyday, keeps you on track. Good luck to you!

My NUT made one very important point that really stuck with me: "this is not a diet, that is what you had surgery for". Not saying that we go hog-wild, but to remember we did a lot to change our lives, NOT to destroy our happiness. Everything in moderation. THAT'S the key!

I'm putting my defense shield up and getting ready to get lectured by the community ????
Do I dare admit that I have had 1-2 full size Butterfinger candy bars post surgery every week since the time I've been allowed to have solids? Yep. Ive enjoyed my favorite candy bar every week for at least 7 months now. Before you lecture me, let me tell you a little bit about my thinking process. I've always hated the word "diet" because it implies that one day you will go off of your current way of eating and back to another way of eating. When people "diet", they deprive themselves of the things that they really want and at some point cave and give in. I eat a pretty clean diet 99% of the time. I was able to reach and surpass my surgeon's goal by 10 pounds before a years time. I weigh myself daily, continue to follow my surgeon's guidelines and exercise. I also know myself well enough to know my limitations. There is no way I can have an endless supply of chips, Cookies, candy and other "binge foods" in my house. They are way to easy to grab without thinking. However, I do enjoy an occasional indulgence. I record every single thing I eat in my loseit app on my phone. I account for those calories. Now can everyone handle this kind of discipline? Probably not. This is where you have to be honest with your own situation. I've never considered myself an emotional eater. I don't turn to food for comfort. I've never feared my need for butterfingers would increase as the weeks went on. I'm also willing to reevaluate and check myself if this starts to happen. I guess I have issues with any black and white thinking. It worries me when former food addicts become food nazis. I get that many of us need that kind of discipline to be successful. If I deprive myself of things I love, I start to rebel. Butterfingers make me happy. There. I said it. I don't have to have a case of them. I never did. I have created a new lifestyle for myself that includes healthy eating, exercise AND and an occasional treat. I'm glad I can still indulge once in awhile.
???? Confession time over.

Girl, if there is ever a time to stress eat, this is it. Bring some knitting, paint your nails while you wait, walk the halls.
Tell her to feel better soon and give her a hug from me! A hug to you, too. That's tough.

laurenella82 got a reaction from AngelJoyD in How did you determine your "goal weight"?
This question may seem a bit racist but, I'm just wondering....I feel like the BMI charts aren't really geared toward women of color. A "normal" weight for me (32, 5') is 96-127 or something like that. I have hips and a$$ and at 127 I would probably look crazy as hell....at 96, I would look like a bobble head crack head doll! I don't think it considers all that.....am I the only one who thinks about this?

laurenella82 reacted to Babbs in A loss, a gain, a loss and a STALL ????
You look great ( what a beauty!) and have done a great job with the weight loss! Stalls are just part of the process. It's kind of like taking a nice uphill hike. You gotta stop and rest and take in the view once in a while. Your body is just stopping to rest and take in the view. Keep your fluids up, Protein high and move a little and it will pass.
Miss Mac says it best. Stalls are like lovers. Your first probably won't be your last
