  1. I have my psych eval tomorrow and my last NUT appointment Thursday. Then I'm ready for them to send it to the insurance company. One thing I don't really understand is the $350 charge for some nutrition class that I have to do prior to surgery. Is that normal or just something GW does?
  2. I have Amerihealth DC (Medicaid) so I wouldn't be surprised if they take the full 2 weeks. But I'm staying hopeful that it won't. I'll ask the navigator about scheduling prior to insurance approval when I call her to let her know I did everything. My BMI is 58 so I really don't think I'll be denied.
  3. I'm super impatient about it right now lol. So if I have to wait like that I may just find another doctor. Maybe at Washington Hospital Center. I would LOVE to have it done before the new year but I'm probably pushing it.
  4. Hmmmm...maybe this is a different person. Or she got reported and is nicer now. She's fine with me. Our conversations are less formal and more like I'm talking to a friend. She's been really helpful and encouraging. She also told me that it takes the doc a week to get the info out for insurance approval and 6 weeks for them to approve (though she did tell me off the record that it's never taken my insurance more than 2 weeks). I'm hoping it won't take the entire week to send my stuff off.
  5. Was that for the actual surgery or for a consult with the surgeon? I certainly hope the wait isn't that long now. They haven't been told anything about a wait. If turns out to be easier than my c section then I'm golden. Aside from having to be put to sleep because I felt her cut me, it wasn't so bad. Very little pain/soreness.
  6. Congrats!! How are you doing so far? How long were you off work?
  7. Cool! I'm going to have mine at GW. When was your surgery?
  8. I had the same thoughts as I was on vacation last week looking into three wall sized mirrors around a bath tub. I almost cried. I like what you said, I HAVE fat, I am not fat. Just like I HAVE fingernails but I am not fingernails. It's good to have a different and positive perspective on it. No surgery date yet. But I'm hoping and praying I'll have it soon.
  9. I have no desire to be within my healthy BMI range. I'm 5' and my "healthy" weight per the BMI chart is 94.7-128 pounds....no thanks! 140-145 is good for me. But I usually focus more on clothing size and a 6 or 8 would be perfect for my height.
  10. ???????? prayers for a safe surgery and safe and speedy recovery!
  11. Just curious. I see a lot of people from the West coast and up north like Jersey and PA...
  12. Sounds so good....except for the chickpeas. For some reason they ALWAYS come back up if I eat them whole. I have no problems with hummus though ????
  13. What protein shakes are you using?
  14. lol! Poor thing ????????
  15. Agreed! But it still weighs the same lol. I even had a personal trainer tell me that a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat smh. My silly behind believed him for a while too ???? But If you look at 2 people who weigh the same and are the same height they could look completely different from one another. They may even wear different sizes. It's a question of the muscle to body fat ratio.
  16. Why do people think muscle weighs more than fat???? A pound is a pound. It just looks different. If I took a scale and put a pound of cotton on one side and a one pound weight on the other side it's going to be even. It's just going to LOOK different. A pound is a pound is a pound!
  17. Yeah you do have to be selective in who you tell. Although I don't mind talking about it, I don't need advice from someone who hasn't been through this or who is not a medical professional on my surgeons team.
  18. I pray I don't have a lot of pain. I really don't remember the pain from my c-section except that I think it felt more like soreness than actual pain. And I took pain meds but they didn't help the soreness. I do remember that I couldn't laugh or cough without doubling over in pain. But even that only lasted a few seconds.
  19. Lol @ the pic of your @$$ on the fridge. I find it funny because I thought about doing the same thing but my friends might think it's a but strange when they come to visit. Plus my 3 year old son might be scarred for life ????
  20. Has anyone ever made a vision board to put up in your home to keep you on track? I think I'm going to do this for myself. I need a co stand reminder of why I'm doing what I'm doing.
