  1. Thank you for the input, I'm 65 and not happy with what I look like now...... lol don't want to look 100 ! I have about 55 pounds to lose and can't seem to do it without the "tool" of the surgery. Well, I can do it... I just can't keep it off. I have failed so many times and now the extra weight has taken it's toll on my body and joints. I study and read everything I can find on VSG and haven't seen anything about dark circles or sunken eyes so I thank you all for sharing your experience. I will look for the Bio oil too.
  2. Did this come after surgery or have you had them before surgery? Momma_D you mention stress, has the surgery caused a lot of stress? My vsg surgery date is March 3rd. I've been doing a lot of research and asking a lot of questions hoping to ease my mind. I noticed that the majority of people with the dark circles were bypass patients compared to vsg patients. Could there be a connection?
  3. Where was this done? It sounds a bit careless when your allergy wasn't reconized beforehand. Glad that you noticed the mistake and your alright.
  4. Does anyone know anything about this procedure? Is it used for weight loss too?
  5. I'm still working on the insurance issue, I'm just looking at other options just in case I get denied. The doc didn't bring this up it came up in conversation with a friend but I plan on meeting with him soon. With my surgery being March 3rd. I want to get things going one way or another. The wheels turn slowly.
  6. Oh, I was under the impression that it restricted food consumption by repairing the hiatal hernia at the same time reducing the size if the stomach. The procedure was brought up in conversation and I thought it might be something that I would be interested in. I could be denyed by Medicare or my supplement insurance for the sleeve so this option was brought up because I still have the hiatal hernia still needs to be repaired.

    Sleeved this morning!

Congratulations! It's so nice to hear that you are doing well with no pain or nausea. My date is March 3rd. 2015 I'm scared to death but am so happy to see the positive outcomes. With each one my I feel a little braver. Here's to a speedy recovery.
  8. Thank you for the pep talk, I really need the positive feedback. I suffer from anxiety attacks so I try to keep calm but sometimes this fear takes over and consumes me. I go to sleep thinking about it and wake up thinking about it. I seem to be hung up on the 30 days post op...... is that when people have complications and heart attacks? I want to do this surgery so bad I'm just scared. I love going to the support groups I go to 2 a month and habe since July, I like being around the positive energy it gives me a boost of confidence for a while then I fall into the anxious mode again. The multiple pages of complications in my pre surgery packet is overwhelming.
  9. I never should have read the "complications" forum. I wonder just how many VSG people actually have leaks, stricture and other problems. Freaked me out! My dare is March 3rd. I'm almost thinking that I might cancel. It really has me worried. Of course I'm a worrier. It doesn't help matters any.
  10. I told mybest friend, and a very old best friend (we've known each other for 50 years) my old best friend was ans is very supportive but to my surprise my best friend isn't. She gets defensive when I say anything and comes up with "well you just watch what you eat and work out" how about this and that and something else........ grrrrrr ive been struggling for years and not getting anywhere. She just doesn't back off. I just logged onto my fitness pal for day 30, I've been eating under 1200 calories and burning 250 of that on the treadmill I've lost 3 pounds :-( Anyway, I'm glad that I only told a couple of people because I really don't like the negative remarks and the doom and gloom. I'm scared as it is. People do know that I'm working on my weight loss so maybe when I have my surgery they won't even think about it. And if they ask...... I'll tell them.
  11. Good news today, I got a surgery date! I was already to give up a couple of weeks ago. After my EDG? When they found a hiatal hernia my husband said the doc recommended the bypass. I went in today already to say "no bypass" and no surgery. Well it went better than I expected, we started chatting about the sleeve. I probably should have questioned the change but wasn't sure what to do. I think that my next visit I should address this just to make sure. So in 2 months my journey begins! I'm excited and scared all at the same time.
  12. Thank you Lalise, I will be sure to get this worked out.
  13. Carols5417 We only one barbaric surgeon in our area and is a very good one so I don't understand why he says I need the by pass. I have only 65 pounds to loose so it would seem like the sleeve would be the perfect fit. It sounds like your doing really well, I just hope that I can join all of you with my own sucess story.
  14. Seems like it's a frequent problem. I will be prepared to insist on what I want.
  15. Thank you for sharing your stories, I will discuss this with the doc when I go for my visit. I'm not happy at this point :-(
  16. I don't know why the doc told my husband (I was in recovery) that the bypass was what he recommended. I hope that on my visit with him I can find out why. After all this time of jumping through hoops, going to support groups for 5 months, having all kinds of tests done, getting over my fears I really hope that I can have the sleeve. If not I'm afraid that I will have the problem fixed and not do anything more. I hope thats not the case. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    WLS and incontinence

Glad to hear that. It does get embarrassing having to always know where the restroom is at all times.

All of your remarks are encouraging, thank you. It would be nice to sleep through the night and not be afraid to drink when out and about. Now.... what are Ben Wa Balls?
  21. This is so weird..... my profile picture is showing up on other peoples posts.
  22. Linda thanks for the "heads up" on wigs. I will start shopping. Congratulations on your successful weight loss. I'm looking forward to my journey to begin. I'm so happy to find a group age appropriate for me. I subscribe to many You Tube vsg vlogs and enjoy them all but there are not many my age so being here is very helpful.
  23. My surgery date isn't set yet but is coming to that stage really soon. I get closer and closer with every appointment. At my last appointment they said have to lose 10 pounds and then I will get even closer. At the age of 65 I too worry about loose skin and HAIR LOSS! I started months ago with vitamins and B12 along with Biotin just to maybe help with the hair loss as best I can. I don't know if it works but its worth a try. Just because we are 60+ doesn't mean we can't try to be pretty again. My hair is my best asset right now. As far as loose skin..... well we already have that at this age anyway so I'm prepared to just live with it. 3/4 sleeves have become my friend. I plan on getting shape wear and looking fabulous after surgery. I'm looking forward to riding my bike, kayaking and running with my grandchildren. Maybe I'll be able to do cartwheels again!
  24. I believe it's the acid. I hear a little 1/2 caf is ok.
