    Need some hope

Bonawanabfree - thank you so much! I am hoping it will happen quickly for us. My heart is aching to have a baby and be a mommy. My cycles have regulated since surgery so that is huge! Thanks for the prayers!!

Cowgirl Thank you so much! You have no idea how much that really helped me! I will stay positive and just leave it in God's hands!

    Pizza ughhhh

All these ladies are correct! The desire and need does subside some after surgery. I love pizza! Still do! But all the bread hits me like a ton of bricks! I make my own version with a cheese crust and it's amazing and so satisfying! It's a hard thing to be left out but I promise, it gets easier.

    Let's Talk: Fears?

I admire all of you for being so honest on your fears. I had plenty of the myself but also did not allow myself months to think about it. I had vsg on Oct 15, 2014. So a little over 4 months ago. I was never worried about the surgery or recovery itself. Which for me, was a breeze. I went back to work also 5 days later with very little pain. My biggest fears were a lot like Lexi. I was worried about my relationship with food. How sad that I can't eat everything on my plate anymore? That's how I felt. And trust me, I went overboard having my last meal! I gained 8 pounds in like 2 weeks. That's scary! And honestly, I was a bit depressed for the 1st month after surgery. I was losing weight quickly but the diet was hard after. Well I take that back...you have no true appetite. It was my head hunger that got me. I almost mourned my relationship with food. But once I got my energy back and lost that first 30 pounds.... my life changed forever. I still have people look at me and make comments about how sad that I can't eat more than that or that I really don't desire any food anymore, but honestly I am fine with it! I am not sorry one bit! 4 months out and 80 pounds down makes it so worth it. One of our biggest reasons for me getting the surgery was to have children. We have been trying for 6 years, went through fertility treatments and nothing. Neither one of us have anything wrong, besides PCOS, to not be able to conceive. After a lot of talking it was suggested that possibly losing weight will help. So my biggest fear at this time is that, yes I am getting healthier, but what if I still can't get pregnant? That is devastating to me. But all we can do is keep on taking care of ourselves!!

    Any one from Texas?

Hi Ginger!!! Kdawg I drink the premier Protein shakes. I get a case for $24 at costco and they taste the best to me for 30g of protein. I tried all kinds and tried the clear Protein drinks Isopur and I just could not take the taste. So I stick with what's easy for me to get down. I don't add anything to them or make special drinks or smoothies out of them. I just grab and go. Pretty easy!

Kdawgsmom - that's awesome that you are already down 11 pounds! Good for you! When is your surgery? I feel like really following your preop diet just helps you stick to your postop phases. I think the high pain tolerance will be helpful for you! It was so much easier than I expected! Eating now is fine. I haven't found anything that makes me sick. Ground beef is a lot more heavier in my stomach than other protein so I don't eat it much because I just don't like the way it feels. I definitely can not eat breads and carbs the way I use to. I tend to stay away from those anyways but when I have tried it just hits me like a ton of bricks. Pasta I don't even try for the same reason. And as far as what I eat....it's pretty basic and repetitive. I am a picky eater to begin with. So I generally still drink a protein shake for breakfast because even almost 4 months out...I only eat like 3 or 4 ounces so there is no way I could get all my protein in. So I start with a shake. Lunch is usually leftovers from the night before so for instance today I had some spaghetti sauce with a little ground beef and some mozzerlla cheese. We had lasagna last night and I just pick the cheese and meat off. It was about 3 ounces and I was good. Snack around 3ish is usually a string cheese or a protein bar if I need more protein and then dinner is usually just the protein we are having and sometimes a veggie. So tonight we are having pork ribs and carrots. I usually only drink water or crystal light. Sometimes I have coffee but I'm super sensitive to it. Always have been. It's just crazy to wrap your head around. We ate out for everything and loved eating. Now it's just not that important. I can usually find something everywhere and order off the kids menu. It's just not as important anymore.

TX firefly I understand completely about your rubbing raw. I hate that so much! I was also self pay. Boo for insurance not covering anything! My husband and I have been trying to conceive for over 5 years now. We did infertile treatments for a while and had all the testing done. Only thing that might be hurting us was my weight. So it's the main reason I decided to have the surgery! We want children so badly! Is that a reason for you too?

Kdawgsmom thank you so much! Some days I feel like I am a slow loser and others I feel like I am doing great! These dang stalls cause major head problems! Lol my surgery and recovery was so easy and smooth. I truly believe really following my preop diet helped a bunch. I didn't cheat at all and really stuck to it. Right after surgery, I was up walking every hour to help with gas. When I woke up in recovery, I remember screaming at my nurse about pain and nausea. He kept saying try and burp and I cussed him a new one. Lol oops! But by the time I was transported to my room, I was better. I stayed on top of taking pain meds while at the hospital and at home for 3 days. I never let the time lapse. I had surgery Wednesday and back to work that following Monday. I think the walking and staying on the meds helped a lot so I recommend doing that as much as possible. Really stick with the protocol for when you can eat what after surgery. I never cheated on that either. I'm excited for you! You are going to love it! I was super heavy before 388 so I am just now starting to get people to notice I am losing and it feels great! You got this!

    Any one from Texas?

Hey everyone! I am a 30 year old female from Fort Worth / Keller area. I had gastric sleeve Oct 15 2014 so I am almost 4 months post op. I have lost about 72 pounds but have been at another stall for 2 weeks. Frustrating! How is everyone else doing? I would love to talk with more ladies in my area about our process. It is definitely difficult for people to understand unless they have been there.

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

Hey everyone! First time on this thread! I was sleeved October 15, 2014. I am down 71 pounds but have hit a stall and haven't lost anything this week. I feel like I am a slow loser and would be way further along by now. I have a trip at the beginning of March and wanted to be down a 100 pounds, but looks like I won't hit that goal. I just want to be out of the 300s. It's still hard for some people to even tell I have lost that much because I have so much more to go. It gets discouraging at times. Anyone have any great advice on how to get out of stalls faster? Hope everyone is having a great week!

    Is it possible?

Thanks everyone for the support! I braved the scale today at 7 weeks out and lost 11 pounds. I haven't been on it since this post so I'm not sure how long my stall was, but man they play games with your head! I just kept doing what I was doing, because what else can I do? And it paid off finally! I know this won't be my last stall but sure hoping I won't have one for a while! Thanks again!

    Is it possible?

I had surgery October 15th. With preop dirty and 2 weeks after, I lost 40 pounds pounds. Since then, the scale has not moved at all. It has been 2 1/2 weeks. I get my protein in everyday and try to get all my liquids in. I'm scared to death that I am someone who the surgery will not work for. I am eating so much less but its not showing on the scale. I have done research on the 3 week stall but do they last 2 1/2 weeks? I am so upset about this! I have so much more to lose and it seems I have plateaued already. Anyone have advice? Thanks!

    Is it possible?

Thanks Blerdgirl! My husband hid the scale for 2 weeks because I was stressing so I had him get it down for my 5 week weigh in and I was so disappointed! I will definitely focus on water, protein and exercise.

    Newbie looking for Oct sleevers!

Hey everyone!! I am from Texas and having surgery October 15th! I am super excited and nervous all at the same time. I am the heaviest I have ever been, I have been splurging a lot lately. I agree with Kathy that I think the hardest part will be the preop diet. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I'm not too worried about that. What kind of protein shakes is everyone buying?

    Experiences with IUI?

You are more than welcome! Yes please do keep me updated. Having someone else to vent to about these things has been a lifesaver. People mean well, but when they say "Just don't stress and it will happen" it doesn't help the situation! So having someone who gets it, helps a lot. Good luck!
