  10. The phone call is a nice touch I used also. My insurance offered me a case manager to help me through the process. The case manager called after surgery and has checked in a few other times. I think it would give u piece of mind you are on track.
  11. There was a guide given by the doc, ranging from 1 wk to 6 wks. I am planning on 6 wks and longer if I can. We get short term disability.
  12. I have a $1500 deductible and max out if pocket of $2500. I met them both before the surgery. I am one of those BLESSED ONES who is paying NOTHING for my surgery. I had a couple other major medical issues this year.?
  13. Surgery went well, last thing i remember is moving from 1 bed to the next in the OR, then magically I am in my room. Piece of cake. I was up walking in about 2 hours, not far, but it is what we have to do. Able to sip water. Hatted the jello, the broth was ok. Ice chips became my best friend. Went home on Sunday. Great to sleep in my bed. Dr. Js RNY patients go home with a gtube. I had a challenge getting the top off the tube, quite comical, the doc had a challenge the next day also. Able to drink proteins shakes, broth and other fluids. NO REAL PROBLEMS. Staples are out. Things are going along very well. Thanks for all your well wishes

  17. Well surgery is 2 days out 10/9 6 am be there 10 am surgery. I am ready to start this new phase of my life. Nothing worth having is easy, I don't expect to be easy, just coming up with a plan and following that plan. Planning ahead on meals and exercise. I have a great local support group, we meet tonight, so I can voice any concerns there as well as on this board. My friend Denise had surgery 11 mos ago and she has been a God send, always there for support and encouragement along the way. I ask you guys to send good thought and prayer my way. Thanks, glad I was referred to this board.

  19. I started the process in April of this year. Had to have 4 visits with my PCP and 1 with nutritionist. 3 wks for insurance to approve. Pre-op is tomorrow 10/3 and surgery is 10/9. I asked for a case manager with my insurance copy, she confirmed everything I needed and check on the approval status.
  20. I have my pre-op with my surgeon and staff tomorrow, and RNY surgery on 10/9. This is really happening.
