  2. Has any one else had shoulder pain not related to gas but the port hitting a nerve on your diaphragm? I was told that is what is happening to me. it feels like the gas pain but they say I am too far out of surgery date to still have gas?? if anyone has heard of this what can I do??

  6. i am only 2 weeks post-op but I am getting the same thing it has only happened 3x but I think i ate mash potaotes really thin but I guess not thin enought and soup with pastina and it happened then. I am associating it with food differences, But it really hurts and I do sweat I think because of the pain. Today it happened and I am not sure why this time. but a couple of hours a some good belches and I felt better
  7. I like a glass of wine but when it comes to alcohol I think carbonation is the issue as well as the calories consumed.

  9. I know for me they did not give an incentive spirometer either and It wasn't until fri and I had my surgery Mon that I realized I cuoldn't take a deep breath and I did and alomost hacked up a lung. My Doc checked me and luckly I think I cleared it before pneunmonia settled but on post op day 13 I still get pain upon taking a deep breath especailly I have been busy and I get tired.. My doc said it could take up to a month to lose all the aches and pains. Great point looplou about PE. It doesn't hurt as much as you just can't do it..
  10. you can also use acetone nailpolish remover on a q-tip. that is what is in the tape remover at the hospital
  11. like everyone said that sounds like my days my kids have taken up helping me get dressed and boy does that port keep giving you a real reminder LOL haven't sneezed yet but boy I can't even imagine. I did a stupid twist to catch a falling glass of water should have let it spill.. I think the worst was 2nd day post op dropping the remote and no one home LOL never knew i was that good with my toes. But I am glad everyone seems to have the same port pain because I was getting worried..
  12. marimaru, I wish my doc had given me a muscle relaxant because my port muscle was in such spasm for about 24 hrs that I had a hard time breathing. they gave me percocet and when I call them back that night due to the pain they told me just to keep taking them. Now I wish i had the antispasm med. I am not a wimp when it comes to pain so this really scared me
  13. thanks everyone for their help. I spoke with the docs last night apparenty when I got stuck in a wheel chair for an hour waitng for xray my muscles went into spasms around my port which is what was causing the severe pain. taking meds and feeling better today.. again thanks for the help
