    How did Xmas go?

I was worried about having to explain why I wasn't eating, and do you know that not a single person noticed! I was so surprised!! Let me say though - I did carry a plate for a few minutes while I fed my son. There were a couple of things that I had that weren't the best choices, but overall I didn't do too bad.

    Back on track....sort of

Sending you both hugs and a recommendation that you call your doctor. I didn't do too great yesterday either. I'm still on liquids, but I "accidently" managed to dip my finger into all sorts of things and lick it off. Technically I guess it's not cheating ... but seriously ... I also let a teensy piece of fudge melt in my mouth. I think for me, I'm kind of feeling desperate for flavor. Figured that out when I was licking a banana. <eyeroll> We all don't have too far to go before we'll be out of this stage. We can do it.
  3. Me too Audra!! I am very much looking forward to next Monday, I will have eggs and cottage cheese. What Protein drink do you have that's tasty? I'm drinking a Curves Protein shake this morning that isn't too bad ... it's the best of what I've tried so far, anyway. It only has 23 g though, for 8 oz. I'm really only shooting for 40 g so it certainly helps.

    #2 ?

It's kind of rare here too. I took some milk of magnesia on day 3 ... and on day 4 I was TOTALLY wishing that I had not done that. When "it" happened, it was not pretty. (Well, not that it ever is, but this was particularly bad.) Think explosive. (Sorry for the overshare ... you asked though.) I'm now on day 9, and today was the first "normal".

    Post op discomfort

Oh sweetie, I had the same problem. I called because I was running a little fever and she asked me about my incisions and asked me about my cough and said that it sounded like I was a little sick, but not related to the surgery. For me it only lasted a couple of days, but the chills then sweating were very uncomfortable. It was worst in the evening. Sending you hugs, and hoping you feel better as quickly as I did.

    Can I take a bath?

Two weeks for me will be new years eve. Wanna guess how I'll be celebrating? :rose: Thanks for the advice!

    Can I take a bath?

Silly question I know. I have SCOURED all of the papers they've given me, and nowhere is this question answered! I had steristrips, they've all fallen off (yep, even the port incision one that I said could stay there forever as far as I was concerned). I know I took baths in the first couple of weeks with my c-sections, for whatever that might be worth. I was banded 12/17. I'm sure my doctor will be hard to reach the next few days, and since this isn't a big deal, I wouldn't bother him with it anyway. So ... anyone have a good reason why I SHOULDN'T take a bath? (oh btw - I'm not dirty I've taken one or two showers every day since my band was placed.)

    Just Plain Scared!

Oh my, this is EXACTLY how I felt. I also wondered how my husband was going to explain my death because no one knew I was having surgery except him and one friend. It is quite nerve wracking, thinking about such things. I made it through just fine, for whatever that's worth. I usually wake up from general anesthesia hollering, but this time I woke up happily because I realized I was still alive and the surgery was done. :rose: You'll do fine. Positive thoughts. :rose:

    Post op discomfort

lilysmom ... I felt just like you! I was so discouraged at about 4 days post op because I'd come here and read about people going back to work, when I was having a hard time getting out of bed!! BUT! Then day 5 came. :rose: Oh, happy day 5. :rose: And then day 6 was even better. Day 7 I was able to (slowly) get back to something of a normal routine. Today is day 8. I still get up slowly and feel that pulling pain when I sit up from bed. I still walk slowly and still can't stand up 100% straight all the time, but for the most part, I feel good. I can't believe mine has been a week.

    Liquid Stage Recipes

I made a yummy breakfast this morning. My dr considers cream of wheat to be liquid, so I made some plain cream of wheat with milk and some sugar free torani syrup to give it some flavor. Then I put half a scoop of vanilla unjury in it. I actually can't taste the protein. It tastes like strawberries and cream, very good! This will be my breakfast for the next few days! I'm counting about 15 proteins in it too.

    December Surgery Dates

Hey, I think I am QUEEN of whining. I got discouraged last week (banded 12/17) when I would read how well people were doing on days 3 and 4 when day 3 was by far and away the WORST day for me. By day 5 I really was feeling better though. Today is day 7, and aside from some occasional gas pains (some of which are still REALLY sharp!) and some pain when standing, I'm doing really well. My husband went back to work today and I'm ready to brave the world with my three kids. Well, kind of. We're going to church. Whine away ... but also know that it WILL get better.

    Incision questions???

I have five as well. Three are really small, one is about twice that size, and then the port is twice the size of the medium one. All of my steristrips are gone except the one over the port. It can stay there forever as far as I'm concerned. I am *NOT* pulling that thing off!
  15. What protein are you having?
  16. jewelee

    I need your advice ASAP!!!

Yikes!! I agree, drive in there and talk with them.
  17. Oh, I have one more giggle. With these incisions plus the incision for a previous laparoscopy, plus the c-section incisions, I have a nice little pattern on my tummy. My daughter (the lucky charms atkins shake one, she's 6) said it looked like a Christmas tree. It kind of does. Very thankful that it doesn't hurt to laugh today!

Which day does it get better ?

I felt well enough on day 5 to get out of the house a little. Today is day 6, and it was a rough night last night. I need to get some more Protein in my body, I'm sure that would help. The gas pains were much better yesterday but last night came back with a vengeance. Hopefully as I move around a little today, I'll end up calling it a good day. I'm so nervous though - my husband has to go to work tomorrow, so I've got three kids on my own. We're going to get up and go to church so that my 2 year old is able to run and play and be cared for by someone else. Hopefully by the time we get home, he'll be ready for a nap, because I'm SURE I will be. My main hope is that by day 10, I will be doing really well.
  19. There with ya, sister. My husband has been in charge of, well, everything this week. My family has been eating well. He even made them an apple crisp ... which happens to be my favorite dessert. I have been consoling myself with the same thought - not too much longer and I can have a bite, if I want.
  20. Oh, I am so jealous!! I did eat some yogurt yesterday, that was nice. Cottage cheese sounds NICE. I think it's another 8 days before I can have that. And chicken??? It's a WHILE before that. I'm just excited that it's just a little over a week before I can have cottage cheese and eggs. Yummy happy new year for ME.

    Week of Decemb er17th

Day 5 ... feeling almost human today, except for these headaches! I'm about to eat some cream of wheat, hopefully that will help a little. My stomach feels WEIRD when I eat! Not bad, not good, just weird. It's growling a bit today, maybe that's what feels so weird.

    Just plain grumpy!

Surgery date was 12/17, so today is day 4. I move from Clear liquids to full liquids. Yeehaa. I am still hurting quite a bit, but I'm reasonably certain it's gas rather than incisions. I've been so constipated then just had some pretty serious diahrrea. (Hey, I'm really just happy *something* is coming out, maybe some of the gas will pick up on the trail!) Yesterday I was having some serious regrets and was hoping that today I'd be feeling better. Not so far. (Of course, it's just after 6 am, so the day might get better! Hoping!) Someone please tell me I'm going to feel better, soon!

    Just plain grumpy!

Thanks so much for your replies. It HAS actually been a better day. I'm up more, and not in so much pain. Here's to hoping that the improvement continues!!

    Is UnJury worth it?

okay ... problem solved. The water was too hot! Tried again and I have smooth salty chicken broth. (And TBH, I am QUITE enjoying the salt right about now!)
  25. jewelee

    Is UnJury worth it?

Okay, I have an unjury question. I made some chicken broth tonight. Impossible to get it mixed, so I put it in the blender. Then I just get chicken broth flavored foam. Not the best thing when I'm one day post op and quite gassy! AND, it still had clumps of powder in it! How can I get it smooth? I absolutely cannot stomach clumpy broth!
