  1. Hey everyone, I know we have an October thread but I wanted to create one specifically for those of us being sleeved on next Monday and Tuesday. I think it would be awesome for us to support each other and actually follow each other post-op. I'm being sleeved on Tuesday, October 7th! Wow still can't believe I have 6 days remaining. I'm not nervous at all just excited and ready to start my journey. My husband thinks something is wrong with me because I'm not nervous lol. Like many of you I've been battling my weight since childhood. I'm 35 years old with a BMI of 44 and 5 months ago I said no more diet pills and no more starving myself for only a 10 lbs lost. I've never been below 200 lbs. in my adult hood. Guys I told my mom yesterday and now I'm regretting it. Her response was the following "why don't you just diet" . I couldn't believe it, I absolutely could not believe it. Anyway I had to brush that off very quickly and continue my conversation with my mom without exposing my true feelings. I'm not discouraged just wishing I wouldn't had sad anything. I'm moving forward, all my thoughts are centered around Tuesday morning. I wish all of you the best and please keep each other lifted up pre and post op.
  2. Hey everyone, I was sleeved on October 7th. I'm down 25lbs. :-)! Very happy and still very excited. But I am starting to become very nauseated with the thought of putting anything in my mouth. This isn't good and I'm hoping it will pass very soon. 4 days ago I couldn't tolerate my Premier shakes, I couldn't believe it. I have all flavors and they all made me nauseous. I'm 2 weeks post op today so I'm starting my puree diet. I was not able to eat my meals, 2 baby spoons was all I could consume. I am able to drink Water without becoming nauseous. I meet with my Bariatric Coordinator on Friday so I'm going to see what she recommends. Other than being nauseated I'm feeling awesome. And guys my sense of smell has intensified so much. Any small odor makes me nauseous, I can't take it. Right now I can't take the smell of my husband, it's crazy. And it's not the cologne he wears it's his body. It's so crazy to me. Anyone else experiencing the same issues?
  3. Hey everyone, I'm 2 weeks post op and I'm beginning to experience the same trouble. I'm not vomiting, but I become very nauseated with the thought of putting anything in my mouth. This started 4 days ago. I'm not able to get my meals in and over the past 5 days I've spent so much money on things that I can't consume. I am able to drink Water but that's about it. I'm feeling so disgusted and my energy is slowly fading because I'm not able to get in my Protein. I'm scheduled to see my Bariatric Coordinator on Friday and I can't wait. I'm also not able to take my Vitamins. I definitely don't know what to do. I started puree today and I could only eat 1 baby spoon of my meat. Guys my sense of smell has also intensified. The smallest odor to others seems huge to me and it makes me nauseous. I don't like the way my husband smells either OMG! He smells horrible to me and I don't even know how to tell him without hurting his feelings. This is so crazy to me right now.

    Post opt diet

Hey everyone, I'm officially 14 days post op. I'm having the same troubles, about 4 days ago all my shakes started tasting very horrible to me to the point that I want to vomit. I can't tell you guys how much money I've wasted over the past 5 days trying to find something my sleeve will agree with. I am able to consume my water but nothing else not even crystal light. My sense of smell has intensified so much so that I can't take the slightest odor without me get getting nauseated. I see my Bariatric Coordinator on Friday and I can't wait. I really did not anticipate this hurdle, but I'm pushing on we can get through this together.
  5. Glad to see my fellow October sleevers on the post-op side! I'm 1 week post op as of yesterday, I'm down 18 lbs from my highest weight of 267. My surgery was on 10-07-14. Since last week I've lost 8 lbs!! I'm so happy guys, I'm kinda in disbelief. I returned to work today, I'm feeling really great. Keeping my liquids with me at all times . I'm hope everyone else is doing great.

    Roll call for Sept 30th...

No you are not alone. Like you I'm very excited and happy to start this new journey, but reality is also settling in that my life will no longer be as it was. I'm very happy about that. From living a more healthier lifestyle, relationships, sigifacant weight loss, and the mental portion of this, we have a lot to adapt to. I'm in the hospital, I'll be discharges in the morning. I've had to refuse some visitation and ignore calls because I'm not ready to answer questions and be ridiculed for my decision.
  7. She is awesome ! That's so true about taste, I've been dealing with nausea this afternoon. My hospital didn't offer me a broth or jello, they offered me protein shakes. We all know that protein shakes differ and there are a lot of shakes that don't agree with us. Guys I was given 3 different shakes and I couldn't drink one of them, 2 sips really hurt my stomach. Since I will be discharged in the morning I'm having my husband bring a few Premier shakes from home so I can drink them before I leave the hospital. If Premier doesn't work I have my Unjury.

    October 2014

Hey everyone, so I had my leak test a couple hours ago. I thought the chalky substance was going to be awful but it wasn't that bad. It reminded me of Miralax. So I should proceed with my liquid diet this afternoon. I feel great and ready to head home. I won't be leaving the hospital until tomorrow morning. I hope everyone is doing great!
  9. Thank you, this support group has been very beneficial to me as well. It's awesome to share my experience with everyone. I've heard very great things about Dr. Alvarez. In fact if my insurance wouldn't had covered my surgery I would have went to Dr. Alvarez. I truly wish you the best, your day is almost here. I'm getting prepared for my swallow test .
  10. And yes I'm so excited to be starting my journey post op.
  11. Hey Tammy, I went into surgery at 9:30 this morning. Everything went so well. I remember going into the operating room but I was only awake for a few minutes. I had to have a hitial hernia repair as well. When I woke up from surgery the gas pain in my chest was at a level of 5 or 6. I was given pain medication, when i got to my room from recovery I was ready to walk . I put my pajamas on and I walked and I'm no longer experiencing gas pains and that's so awesome. I've been increasing my walking time a little at a time. I'm up to 5 laps on my hospital floor. As far as resting, I've been resting pretty well. Nurses are constantly in but their awesome. I hope you are doing well. awesome! I have my chest x-ray and leak test in the morning. After that I'll start my clear liquid diet. I don't feel hungry . How are you doing?

  21. Hey everyone, wishing all Monday, October 6th sleevers the best and quick recovery!
  22. Yes definitely talk with your surgeon regarding your concerns. Your surgeon needs to know and should completey understand due to your family's history and your medical condition. Ask as many questions as you like so that you have peace of mind. I'm sorry your medical team hasn't answered your questions before now. I wish you the best. I'll be going in on Tuesday morning.
  23. That's awesome, congratulations!
