Blue Cross 6 month wait !

going thru the same thing...will finish my 6mo dec 14...did you go to an obgyn...they will accept those weights as well. I was told get as many years of weight that you can...also...make sure that with your month weight loss program they provide detailed notes on each visit...including changes in your weight...and what weight loss program you are following...they are really picky.
  2. Chris that would be AWESOME!!! my email is kaninag@hotmail.com Yeah I ended up getting all of my medical records from my obgyn...I have never really gone to a PCP...I like the idea of having him write a letter I will call his office first thing monday and see if he will do that!!! Thanks a lot!!! I am soooo nervous...I really want this surgery. I called the insurance company yesterday and the new plan will still cover the surgery but instead of at 100% they will only pay 80% SO I REALLY WANT TO HAVE IT RIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS...I dont care who you having to pay 20% of surgery costs isnt cheap!!!!

    New Ins. Jan 1st-no coverage

I talk with the surgeon himself...and explain your problem...trust me if hes a good doctor he will try his absolute best to get you in. If not he may have a partner or know how to get you thru before Jan1...I am running into the same prob except my 6mo doesnt end until dec 15...so i will really be pushing it. good luck
  5. the first of the year. I think Jan 1 My 6 mo weight loss plan will be up DEC 15....It would be awesome if everything could go thru and I have the surgery right after Christmas...but thats prob wishful thinking.
  6. OH HELP NOW I AM SO WORRIED...my husbands company is changing from BCBS PPO to BCBS Empire this is of Alabama...anyone had any experience with this.... I called and they said yeah it would still be covered but of course only if i meet medical necessity..or whatever. I'm a month away from completing my 6mo weight loss program....I lost 25 lbs and have gained 22 of it back now...I am soooo frustrated...I am really worried that BCBS wont cover the surgery....2 years ago I had a BMI that dropped down to 35.3 and the only medical problems I really have is shortness of breath on exertion, arthiritic pains in my knees..I am 25..my BMI now is like 43.6.....I have tried everything to lose weight and I am just sooo afraid I will be DENIED...I dont know if emotionally i can handle being denied!
  7. you could try a local weght loss clinic. If it is md supervised. Usually you see the dr the first visit and the nurse from then on. its cheaper than seeing your primary md all the time. plus sometime bcbs will reject a primary md assisted weight loss program.

    New and Hopefull

BCBS generally requires 6 months of a MD supervised weight loss program, they will also ask for you medical records documenting your ht and weight for the last 3 years, H&P from your surgeon and a signed letter from you stating that you will or do not smoke 8 weeks prior to surgery. Hope this helps. I am actually nearing my 5th month with the 6th month weight loss thing and am hoping to have surgery in jan...CANT WAIT!!
  10. I guess the surgeons are pretty good at knowing what to put on your H&P to help pursuad insurance companies??? I mean like i told my dr....that i have had more fatigue, shortness of breath with exertion and arthritic pains in my knees increasing in the last 6-7 months.....will he include that...i mean is that considered comorbidities to get this surgery approved....
  11. OMG..I know exactly what you mean...everytime i lose weight I gain it back plus 10 lbs. I told the ppl at my weight loss clinic (1 1/2 months to go) that I was planning on having the surgery in july and now they barely even talk to me when I go in there...its like ok heres the girl give her a shot and let her go.... My husband and I did this thing where we ate exactly what the other ate same portion and everything...I gained 10 lbs in 7 days he gained NOTHING I HATE IT...anyway...thanks for the cheering up I needed it

    BCBS Alabama

HEY!! I have BCBS of AL too...I just got off the phone with them and I am kinda discouraged....my current BMI is 43 But 2-3 years ago I was able to lose enough weight and I have a documented weight that would put my BMI at 35...would this ruin my chances?? Any guesses....
