Thanks, everyone. I'm so, so happy about this. For the first time since surgery, i actually did my hair AND make up. Feeling more like myself everyday!
Last night, I put on music and danced around my living room. I haven't done that IN YEARS. I used to do it all the time when I was younger, but then I gained too much weight and moving around was difficult and painful. But I felt like a kid again, just dancing away. Now I need to learn new moves! lol
I know it will only get better. I am so excited to see where life takes me. I'm trying to figure out where my first plane trip will be - still a ways off, but I'm thinking I want to go to Vegas. Or Atlantic City. I'm leaning toward AC because I also want to see the ocean!

It has been 2 years since having RNY and let me tell you, my relationship with my husband has improved like I never would have imagined!!! We have always had a great relationship, but since having surgery he cannot get enough of me!!! He always reaches out to touch or hug me. I am so much happier now. I have so much self confidence and energy and it shows in all aspects of my life. I am now able to get on the back of his motorcycle and we go on dates all the time. We even have a special Valentine's motorcycle date planned. Having surgery was the best decision I ever made. My husband is my number one supporter. We are inseparable!!!

Im only 5 weeks in, but Being able to open up, or maybe it is being forced to open up to my wife about how I feel about myself. About all the things that we keep to ourselves about being obese, has definitely brought us closer. I feel like I can share anything, no matter how embarrassing, or how personal, without fear. Since this is a journey for both of us, me in finding myself and for her in seeing the changes in me and learning to cope with everything I do to cope with my journey, has made is into a singular entity focused on me getting healthy and thinner.
My wife's name is hope and she lives up to that in every way for me.
P.S. It is easier to get close to someone when there is not a lot of fat in the way.

I began the process of getting WLS surgery back in June. I would share all the information I was learning with my husband. He totally embraced our new lifestyle and began working out with me and making better food choices. He has lost over 40 pounds and I am at 80 pounds down. More important that the weight loss, was the fact that we began spending more time together. Through our many walks, we had conversations like we were getting to know each other again. It is so nice to be able to feel like a couple again and not just like "mom" & "dad". I'd have to say that our level of intimacy has increased greatly through this process. And not just physically but mentally and emotionally. My husband is definitely my best friend and this WLS experience truly solidified our bond.

    Wow,
My husband and I have always had a solid relationship. After weight loss surgery I have found myself again. Besides the regained confidence I have become a genuinely happy person and I have found things that I am passionate about in life.
Passion with my husband has definitely increased. We chase each other around like teenagers and have started dating again.
My husband is my biggest cheerleader. Throughout the Bariatric process he has always believed in me. We are both beyond happy about the physical changes with WLS. The changes in my personality have blown him away. I have a positive drive for living life. I don't plan on wasting this amazing gift I have received from this process.
My husband has made reservations for dinner on Valentines day. I have bought a hot little red dress for him. I am so fortunate to actually be in love with the man that has been in my life for 20 years.

Glammie Grammie reacted to Luana526 in I've had my moments, but I'm SOOO happy I did this!
My surgery was September 26. Looking back (even though it's very recent), I can honestly say that the the biggest adjustment comes when you are given freedom to eat solid foods. What a challenge! When the diet was dicated to me (liquids, then soft solids, etc.) I ate from the list and that was that. But when you begin to explore what works for you and what doesn't (as far as the permanent diet), that's when the real adjustment comes in. And those first few weeks after begin given that freedom I had a few episodes where I either ate too much at once, too fast, or didn't chew well enough (good news: it's so unpleasant, you'll be sure to only do that ONCE!). But here I am 47 and a half pounds down and I am so deliriously happy. And I have a very unusual frame/body, apparently, because I lost close to 30 pounds before people even started to notice. I lose it all over, very evenly. I'm down one size (although ready to go into next size), but I'm okay with that. It really comes from all over on me--my rings are big, I'm even sliding around in my shoes. I have two friends who are ready to take the plunge because they see my success and like me, they've tried just about everything. They are both post-menopausal and the weight just wants to stay put. I know, I was there.
It's a little bit of a challenge getting in my Protein, although God knows I concentrate all day long on doing that. I find that some of my tastes have changed a bit. I never had a "sweet tooth" before, and now I have even less of a tolerance for sweets. So getting down a Protein Bar or shake is literally an all-day task for me. I'm trying to finish a Protein Bar right now that I started yesterday. I take a bite here and a bite there.
You know what the best part about this whole journey is? Besides that I feel fantastic and I'm so happy I did this, the best part is not having that old love/hate relationship with food. I can be around it, have it in the house, go to parties, and never, ever fear that I'm going to overeat and hate myself afterwards. Aside from concentrating on the Protein, I can honestly say I eat what I want and when I want and I have been losing consistently. I make better choice now, because who wants to go through all this and then eat junk food? Even then, I am very, very cognizant of the fact that I am eating a fraction of what I would eat before.
I would encourage anyone considering the sleeve: it will be the best gift you will ever give yourself. I am enjoying life in a whole new way. Good luck!!

I've been here a time or two. Unfortunately I've needed those bigger clothes sometimes because of fad diets that didn't work out in the end for me. But not this time and not ever again ladies. We got this!
(Singing) Let it go, Let it gooo! Can't hold it back anymore! Let it go, let it go, turn away and slam the door! Hahaha! Can you tell I have little ones in my house? :-)

OMG everyone! Thank you so much for the input. I will definitely look into the suggestions. I am glad to know I am not alone in this. Not that I am glad that other people suffer from this but it helps to know that people can understand how it feels.
I have PTSD also so its like the trifecta, lol and I never learned to give myself a break. I am learning now, thanks to the sleeve. Health, both mentally and physically is my number 1 goal.
What scares me the most is that people who know me would never guess I suffer with these issues. Then we see folks like Robin Williams...who'd have guessed he would go out like that? An acquaintance of mine also recently committed suicide as did one of my students a few years back. Its absolutely horrible.
I know suicide is definitely NOT on my list of things to do.....mostly because I don't want to do that to my kids, spouse, family, etc. I just get tired of feeling this way. BUT I will keep my chin up, Celebrate my achievements, do my best to be altruistic, and take each lost pound one day at a time.
Thank you everyone! You guys don't know how appreciated you are!

Countless other WLS patients have had it all paid for if the right words are said. the problem is that I have a problem with infection since I went septic so I am flagged to go to the best and get them to help me.
I did not feel that bad about myself before I went to him. but it was the way his eyes and expression changed when I took the coat off. He literally looked shocked. And tried to keep steady.....It was like a punch in the gut. He started by telling me that health care would only pay for a little bit of it. 1 procedure. But others have had all of it covered. Then he mentioned extensive just to get curvature in my body.
No he never said gross. But I could tell by the way he used his 2 fingers working my body that it was like picking up a snot rag and tossing it into the trash. His face mirrored the same look. It was horrible.
My husband said that he and his secretary kept taking peaks at him. He thinks they were checking him out to see if we had money.
I did not even get out of the building before I collapsed and sobbed.
I phoned my team this morning and the nurse started to cry as I told her what happened. She says I need another opinion. which is fine but what if the new surgeon sees me the same way. Can my opinion of myself take the abuse.
3 days a go I was told by 3 different people that I looked like a model. And yesterday. A look of pure disgust was on this mans face.
Yes if it were someone else I would have lots to say and try to be helpful. I can't possibly have the right thinking all the time. Like everyone else on this board I have a right to be sad about what has happened and the time to get over it...
