I don't see a thread under our month for NSV's. But althought the scale hasn't budged we shall all have Non-Scale-Victories!
My NSV
scale dropped...BMI dropped...it is unofficially at 39.1 BMI. I would not qualify for the surgery....if insurance was paying for it!!!!!:crying:
but will know officially on fill appt at surgeon's office-keeping that as my official weight-ins.
What NSV do you have to share with us?

pretty amazing, yes? I was underwhelmed by how overwrought I was for my first fill also....It takes me nearly 3/4 of a day to drive both ways, fight through the traffic in the jaws of hell, wait for my turn, wait in the little office, and BAM! it's done!!!!
Oh...I can relate to the fight through the traffic in the jaws of it!!!LOL
none worst than Atlanta traffic of course(well there is worst)....
glad your first fill was smooth!
Congrats on the loss!

Ok I confess.....
Last night instead of going straight to school... That evilness subconcious knocked out my lapband diet angel.....and ...made me
decide to stop at WallyWorld(WalMart)....
for what....for some SUGAR!
sugar free candy that is....hey..hey I know what you are thinking ...it is not as bad as some of these other posts...but calories are calories...no matter what it is that you eat....
(ha! I recognize that today...what about last night....dumb..dumb)
any hoot......I convinced myself I was going in to buy a bag of the sugar free peanut crunch only.....ha.....
I bouth a bag of the sugar free peanut crunch...a bag of the sugar free reese's Peanut Butter cups and a bag of sugar free coffee chews.
So I go back in the car...drive off to school and while driving had about 4 peanut crunch's, 3 Peanut Butter cups and 2 coffee chews....
there went a hard days work of exercising!
Oh...and then I hide the bag and receipt in my bag and left it in the car last night....
after class guess what I was doing...yep ...pucking......
Darn that evil voice for winning......
I was just out of control!
Point is....we are no different than alcoholics...a sip of that drink...is still a drink!:crying:

Sorry you had to experience a painful 1st fill.
good job for holding the tears back and thinking of doing labor breathing while waiting for the surgeon to experiment on you.
At least it was worth your while and you got 3cc's in!

What happened where you eating around the band?
Are you exercising?
I was just banded a month ago and look forward to my 1st fill and more loss. I have lost 20 lbs since being banded. My loss has stalled...but I know it's because I need a fill. I am confident once I get the fill I will be back on track.
I am not judging I just want to know how you lost the 60 lbs like what was your schedule like? what foods were you eating? where you measuring your portions? were you following all the band rules?
What is the difference in your routine now from when you lost 60 amazing lbs?
-
Marathinner how was your fill experience like?
oh,..just got 15 minute power walk in and took the stairs instead of the elevator.

aubrie,,
I completely understand your point as I have been there..and experienced the lethargic feeling and paying $$ finally in and out of appts and getting my metabolism to work properly. But if your thyroid levels out of control and too high there are other worst factors that can arise.
Being off from any synthetic/chemically induced medication is a great accomplishment! Just relax....your doctor should still be monitoring your levels incase you need to increase it again...but your body should be producing more levels than it was before and this shall keep your energy equal to what you have now.
PS
I am not a doctor or anything. But I have had a thyroid condition for 5 years now. And have plenty of close family members that do so as well. I have two cousin's who did gastric bypass. One is off her thyroid medication the other one he is still on it. I just pray I am as lucky and able to get off of it.

I did 20 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the bike today.
-
good job rhapsody!
I did 20 min on treadmill and 15 on the bike today.

How are you progressing? I'm still sitting at 29 pounds. Been struggling with the same two pounds for a couple of weeks now. The scale just doesn't want to move. Guess I'm going to need to get my butt out there and exercise. UGH. You would think I would be losing as little as I eat now!
Yep I am still sitting at 20 lbs...playing with the same 2-3 lbs too. I have been exercising lots....I added myself a challenge goal to do 150 minutes per week minimum....Luckily I met that yesterday...but I am still going at it today and tomw.
Glad you are better....our weather has been beautiful and will be even better today! I hope I can get a fill for my first fill...i think I should since I haven't lost anymore.
-
Ugagirl .....I too am waiting by the calendar....can't wait to have restriction.
-
4 weeks post op for me too! I posted another thread about my first fill. I haven't had any PB'ing, sliming, or "stuck" incidents. As far as restriction, I'm like you 4jin, one day I feel TOTALLY restricted and others I feel like I don't even have a band!! My fill is only 1cc, so I'm not sure how much of a difference it is going to make. I keep reminding myself that this is a journey and it's not all going to happen overnight. Ho hum....I'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings!!Well said Marathinner...and inspirational.....
next thing we know .....we will be band veterans....LOL oh and at goal....
-
Congratulations....I hope the same happens to me.!

-
Hey guys I just passed the 1 month bandiversary yesterday.
I have not PB'd.
I am very concious of how much I put in my mouth.
Some days I feel I have restriction...others I don't.
Some days it is a struggle to eat according to the guidelines...other days it is a breeze.
I am exercising harder now..and learning...to once again...feel that passion I once did for it....(probably because I know it will turn the scale in my direction) effective as of Monday that I weighed in...My BMI is 39...I would no longer qualify for my insurance to cover the surgery as they require BMI of 40+.
I am LOVING my BAND!!!
-

I agree with ShortGal,
I was told to continue your routine of diet & exercise if the scale has not moved in the right direction and you are following proper lap-band guidelines then schedule a fill.
A person's weight can flunctuate anywhere from 5 to 15 lbs per month as a consequence of food, medications or any other events going on with your body such as TOM.
