  1. Thank you for all the insight. Everything has been handled and I'm scheduled for Nov. 4th. Next week!????????????
  2. Hi???? I'm scheduled for November 5th in alma, Mi. Dr. Cojoe is doing my surgery out of Mid Michigan. I'm on the two liquid a day, fish, veggies, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello & lots of Water. My biggest struggle has been giving up my coke. But I'm on my third week and doing fairly well. The flavored waters & ice tea help. Congratulations to all of you & best wishes on your new journey!????????????
  3. Wow~ disappointing there isn't more information coming from Michigan.
  4. @ Della Street ~ I was a heavy regular coke drinker and give it up over two weeks ago. I had terrible headaches in the morning. I no longer have them. I drank a lot of flavored waters. Non carbonated and I'm surviving.????
  5. I was a heavy coke drinker until two weeks ago. I like a cold coke from a fountain. It's been rough but I really want this to step in my life to work for me. I slowly cut back than cold turkey. The flavored waters help me a lot. I'm scheduled for my sleeve Nov. 4th
  6. I'd like to be part of group. Nov. 4th is my surgery. Thanks!
  7. It's because they don't understand how and why we can't lose the weight normally. I'm not sharing my experience with any family members. I thought my middle daughter would be the support for me. When I explained the surgery is a tool and the lift style change will me my responsibility. She said why can't you just do it without the surgery. She proceeded to tell me about a girl she knew and it didn't help her at all. I'm using my local support groups. Online, and I have a friend that had the surgery several years ago and has maintained her weight. This is for you. Your gift to yourself. Until others including your mother put on a pair of your shoes and walk in your steps........well how can they really know your pain, hurt, and health risks. Stay strong. Best of luck to you! 8. No. I'm approved by him but he hasn't given further instructions to my counselor or me as to what he wants me to continue to do. Plus he doesn't return phone calls. Apparently he wants to make sure I have a support group following surgery. But gives no indication as to what he wants now. I thought about going into by medical physician and explaining to her what is going on. She knows it took me two years to make this decision. She supports the surgery. In the mean time - each day, I feel myself getting more depressed and anxiety attacks have been frequent. Thanks for responding.????
  9. EXTREMELY UPSET! I started all my paperwork and testing in May. I was told my surgery would be in August. I received a phone call that the psychiatrist had not cleared me. I had three counsel sessions with a counselor prior to the appointment with this psychiatrist. I've made several phone calls to see exactly how many more counsel sessions he wants me to have. He does not return my phone calls. I can't switch to a new psychiatrist because it is not allow with the bariatric program I'm involved in. I doubt my insurance would pay again. I go to two support Bariatric meetings twice a month. I'm involved in three bariatric online groups, my best friend went through the procedure years ago but she's aware of what it is all about. I feel it is very unprofessional and disrespectful not to return my phone calls. I have called him because the bariatric employees could not get him to return their calls either. I have called once a week since the first of September. Everything has been approved by the insurance company and everything I needed to do to prepare for surgery is done also. He's the only one messing me up. I'm very depressed over it. I thought I would be starting my new journey in August. Thanks for reading. Torrielynne I'm extremely upset. I'm doing this for me but I also have two daughters getting married in September and October of 2015.
  10. I have fought eating disorders majority of my life. I was honest with everyone involved and was approved by my insurance company. (Humana PPO) The surgeon and I discussed it and he still thought I was a good candidate for the surgery and would be beneficial for me!
  11. I was told plus read on support site that you need to start intake of Protein three before surgery. I started my protein intake in May. I use hair, Skin & Nails by Sundown Naturals. It was recommended by others in my support group. I am familiar with the product. I used it in the past for healthier nails. It works. My nails are extremely strong and long artificial. My hair has always been thick but it is thicker and health looking. I started the product in May. I was suppose to have my sleeve done end of August and it was canceled. Scheduled for September but on hold because of psychiatric. He just releases approval today. Now I figure I'm looking at first of October. But I still take my pills every day for loss of hair issue.
  12. I never heard of smelling. It's never been mentioned at my support group meetings. Can others smell you? I've been in public and have crossed paths with obesity people that smell extremely bad. I always thought it was because of their excess skin. I have an apron and not only use my deodorant under my arms but my breasts, and stomach. I'm so afraid of smelling. You endured a lot. I hope things continue to become easier for you! Thank you for sharing.
  13. Best wishes to you! I swore I would never to the surgery either but here I am. I know it's a tool but I'm excited to get going on my new weight loss journey scheduled for Oct.
  14. Great idea! I do not have my surgery date yet but I'm keeping a journal. I write down ideas I come across on this app. Great idea for when the time comes for me to be able to eat this type of menu. Thanks for sharing!
  15. My friend had the surgery 20 yrs. ago. She told me to take pictures throughout my weight loss, measurements of every part of body, & keep a journal. I did, & I am keeping journal of this amazing new journey in my life.
  16. @@Luana526 I feel same as you do on clothing and wondering why. I've always been a style dresser and since getting large - it's hard to feel good about one's self when over weight and wearing 2X size clothing. I'm scheduled for sleeve within next month or so - waiting on psychiatrist to clear. He said I need a few more sessions of counsel.
