  1. I think that some guys are just jerks! I have never looked at a woman and thought, wow is she heavy! I am not attracted to her because of her weight! I love my wife just the way she is, and have never been attracted to the super thin, model types! If someone really loves you, they will love you for who you are not even think about how much you weigh! I know that there is a guy out there for you, but patience is the key to find the right one for you! I have been married to my beautiful wife for 2 years, however it did take some time for me to find her and vice cersa. Hope this helps.

I've had two boyfriends. One lasted one month & was amazing. The second was like four months but emotionally abusive. I'm not sure if it is because I'm overweight or because I have a personality flaw, but I'm scared that I still won't be able to get a boyfriend even after I lose the weight. /rant

    EDIT:

Shit, I forgot to even ask... those of you in a relationship... what has your experience been?

  2. It does seem that people can be so dumb! I have worked in customer service for 15 years, and I think I have heard it all. People become frustrated over the SIMPLEST things, and the dumbest things! And they don't want to take responsibility!!! I don't know what is happening to this world ! People should think about how they would feel if they were treated the way they treat others themselves. I remember a call I had once where a lady thought she could return a phone she bought 3 years earlier and receive a refund! I mean, really?! How dumb can people get! It seems when you think you have heard it all, something even dumber comes up!!!

  3. I will keep you in my prayers. It seems that life sure can be rough sometimes. I feel for you in your struggles with not losing weight. I, too have this constant struggle in my life. I was starting at a new clinic with the lapband, but this week my wife was terminated from her job, so that stopped that in her tracks.

  4. Yes, I was alll ready to have surgery, and then my insurance denied me as they dont cover it at the clinic I was going through. Now, I have to start the whole process over, which is very irritating, and the new clinic wont take the records from the old one. They tell me that it has been more then 6 months since I started with the old clinic. ( I started the process June 2007). However, I am starting over, and I dont like it it, but I know that it will be worth it in the end. Keep a positive attitude, and I know that you can do this!!!

  5. I do believe that would include the waiting period on getting the surgery, from what I can gather. This does make sense. Good Luck with your journey!!!:biggrin2:

010308 - You are exactly the person I needed to hear from. Thank you for the information you have given me, it is priceless. And you have convinced me to not play with fire, you are right it is not worth it. One question. I now plan on having my parents drop me from their plan and the next day enroll with UHC through my employer. Because I will have been covered by insurance in the 90 days prior to signing up with UHC they state they waive the waiting period to cover treatment, do you believe this would include a waiting period on getting the surgery? Does this make sense?

  6. I am going to have to drive about 400 miles, I just found out that my insurance wont cover it here locally. I am hoping that all of my records transfer, rather than having to start all over again!

    Hi! Me again!!!

I was wondering if any of you had to go a pretty good distance to get your surgery done? I am going to have to go about 2 hours and that's not too bad. But the dietitian and phsyc appointments... wonder if they can be done locally? I hate to have to drive all that way for that.

  7. Yes, I had to have that done! It was uncomfortable, but not painful! My Doctor did this to see that I was swallowing correctly and to check the pressure in my stomach. I would say it isn't something that you can't handle, just uncomfotable when something goes into your nose and into your stomach from you nose!

"pre-op procedure for swallowing--the manometry--where the tube with the camera goes thru the nose into the tummy"

I was just reading in another thread where someone had this done. Anyone else??

  8. I am also from MN! I am still waiting for insurance approval..they told me to allow 10 business days... I am on day #2!

Hi Mel, my surgery date is the same as yours, from MN here. I am so looking forward to it, keeping myself busy at night on this site from chatting, to reading posts, to start buying the stuff I will need afterwards. Best of luck to you.

Kuri and his team..I was on the Jan. bandsters thread but I think I was the only guy there and felt left out.. A bit back, there was a few guy's that thought our Own thread would be fun, so here it is lets get started..Ted

  10. I was told by my dietician to avoid Pasta...

    Hi:

I received my 2nd fill last week and do (Thank God) have restriction. It seems I cannot tolerate Pasta. I had a lean cuisine today for lunch(fettucinne & chicken) and had about three bites and spent the next 30 minutes sliming and if I understand it correctly PBing. Not fun.

    Anyone else with that problem,

    Thanks,

    Michelle:rolleyes:

  11. I have heard negative things as well, but there are so many positives that I have also heard about lapband, and as with anything, people try to point out the bad aspects of things... I am personally sick of people telling me their negative stories!!! I am so ready to have this done, and no one is going to tell me or try to persuade me any different!!!

NOW I'M SCARED! I DONT WANNA FAIL ... ARE OTHERS GOING THROUGH THIS BUT FORCING THEMSELVES TO SOLDIER ON????

  12. I had Lasik in March 2007, and it has been the most wonderful experience! I wish I would have done it sooner! No more headaches from my glasses, and no more irritation from my contacts! It is quick (it only took 30 seconds on one eye and 45 seconds on the other for me!!!) and and painless!!!I am enjoying the freedom of clear vision at all times as well! I would recommend that everyone have Lasik surgery!!!

I want to share this article that I read about Lasik.Since Im also planning to undergo in the near future. Hope this one will to give more knowledge about Lasik. Most patients are extremely pleased with their LASIK results. LASIK eye surgery benefits include improved visual activity, freedom from corrective eyewear, and possibly new career opportunities. Patients who achieve a successful LASIK outcome can eliminate their need for glasses or contact lenses, and enjoy the freedom of clear vision at all times. Patients can play sports, swim, spend a day at the beach, and participate in various activities without the restrictions that glasses and contacts bring. LASIK eye surgery is a safe and effective treatment that has continued to gain popularity among patients.

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks associated with LASIK, but in the hands of a highly skilled and experienced surgeon, LASIK is a particularly safe and reliable procedure. Nevertheless, you should talk with your surgeon about any risks associated with the procedure, as well as all the benefits. Keep in mind that at Lasik-1 your care will be entrusted to an industry leading surgeon who uses some of the most advanced LASIK technology available today. You can check my2020 for more information about Lasik. Godbless

  13. I called my insurance today and they are reviewing my paperwork! They said to allow 10 business days, but I hope I know before then!!!

Congratulations!! I bet you know faster than that. My doctor's office told me it could take 2 weeks to know if I was approved, but I found out in 3 days. How exciting.

  14. Congratulations! and good luck!!!

Tomorrow I will join the LOSER club. I am getting nervous and excited at the same time. I am looking forward to my new life! I am taking several before shots and once I am banded, I will do after shots later.:)

  15. WOW! That is awesome! I have been going through this process since June 07 and my paperwork has just been submitted to insurance, so I am waiting for approval from them!!!

  16. I, too am going crazy waiting! My coordinator called me today (2/4/08) and told me it has been sent to insurance (CCStpa) and I did call my insurance and they told me to allow 10 business days. It seems like such a long time!!!

    Curious...

My coordinator just called and said she submitted all my information to my insurance company (aenta)...

I'm curious to know how long some of you waited for your approval.. but most of all ... how did you deal with the wait????????

I'm so excited and nervous all wrapped up in one!!!

I can't wait to get approved.. but at the same time it's like ... "what if I don't??"

    GOING NUTS HERE!!:help:

  17. What a great thread. I am anxiously awaiting approval. :nervous My paperwork was sent to BCBS nearly two weeks ago and still no word. I think the people who are supposed to be approving are probably out holiday partying. They have no idea how nervous I am about this whole process. How long has everyone else been waiting for approval?

My doctor's office hasn't even sent in my paperwork yet! They have had it since Tuesday (Jan 28th) and I call them every day! The haven't even been courteous enough to return my calls! I am so irritated with them! I am simply waiting for them to send the paperwork in. How hard can that be? They tell me they are busy, but I want this surgery in February. I don't know what to do anymore.

  18. Mikey,

    So, how is it going? I thought I would drop you this note for a support group in your area;

    Virginia WLS Group

    SMDC Clinic

    1101 9th Street N / 2nd floor lobby

    Virginia, Minnesota

Meetings are third Monday of every month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

It is not going so great. I am waiting on my clinic to send the paperwork in, which they have had in their office since Tuesday. I feel like they are ignoring me, as I have been calling them everyday, and they dont return my calls! I feel like they are prolonging this process! I have been in this process since June, and I really want to have the surgery in February!
