October Surgery Date
Hi Amy, I have been having lots of favorite meals but in small amounts. I don't want to mess up my weight. I made a list of favorites and weave them into family meals. Favorite: pie, ice cream, pizza, cheesecake, steak, etc. I didn't blow out my diet at all. Amy, the message above was for laykee

Can someone help me find the medical journal article showing better outcome for WLS patients who have plastic surgery
I read the study within the last 2 weeks. I believe it was in the plastic surgery board website. Or it may have been NIH or New England Journal of Medicine. I will look for it. In addition to quality of life it stated that the removal of extra skin actually showed better results in maintaining a healthy weight several years after bariatric surgery. Patients were regaining more weight if they didn't have plastic surgery

I was worried about you. They'll figure it out. The endoscopy will help and this too shall pass. But it is a bummer, I agree!

October Surgery Date
Nervous, neh! I remember the first visit I made to the Bariatric doctor's office. My knees trembled all the way back to the car. I was kind of looking around the see if people could see me shaking. I haven't felt that way since I was 12 and I was convinced I was seeing an UFO. It was not, by the way. But the more you learn about the process the more comfortable you will feel.

looking into getting gastric bypass
Oh, I see. I sure hope it's only 3 months. There is only so much NUT training one can do. It will go quick. I am convinced they do it in part to allow the patient enough time to process the information and wrap her/his mind around the concept that this is going to take some work. There is an impression out there that bariatric surgery is the easy way out. It most certainly is not! I feel like it's getting in that dingy as the Titanic sinks. My choice is to take the dingy to choose life. But that dingy ride in the frigid North Atlantic is not going to be the easy way out.

Food question
Like anything post-op, it's up to the NUT. And yes, NUTS know everything. Just a little bariatric humor!

After surgery
You could have your husband pick you up after work. My understanding is, the day you are released from the hospital ends at the end of the day 11:59 PM. It is true at my hospital but check with yours just in case. My husband will pick me up around 6:30 PM. I was told by the hospital/doctor: You are not allowed to drive for five days after surgery and the hospital won't release you unless you have ride.

Surgical scars
How you doing Pik? Are you able to eat and drink ? Scaring is a hard one to pin point. I had a C-section and the scar was red for a long time. Maybe even a year but now you would have look very closely. I have a mid white skin tone. I tan easily and have a little olive undertone. My daughter whom we call snow white (pink undertone) scars with the whitest of scars and they are very visible even 5 years later

Possible Ulcer?
Thank you so much. I used to wake up everyday with a tummy pain. My GP wrote a scrip for a gallbladder function test last year and also told me to do a Prilosec twice per day for a month. Because the Prilosec worked I never did do the test. It was kind of expensive. I have never had an big attack. But I do get tummy pain around my middle/waist and I always wonder if my pants were too tight the day before. NO. Also, I get big time bloating but I never know when it will happen or why. You ER experience is just like the ones I have had. They are worthless. In our family, we have had 4 trips to the ER and each and every time it was a: they don't know what's wrong. I am glad your doctor figured it out.

Question about Protein Shakes and Post-WLS Diet
Thank you so much Kindle, I wrote down all this info in my NEW food BIBLE. The insoluble fiber and your fantastic pudding dessert idea. It sound so yummy and healthy. I also found interesting you use so many different types of Protein fiber. I think variety is key and also by doing so you are getting different sources and processes and spreads the benefit/risk.
