It seems to me that the only expert opinion is that of the doctor. It scares me that so many people are encouraging others to move faster than the surgeon has directed. Oddly, making poor food choices is what put most of us in this position in the first place. But hey, what do I know?
A few bites of eggs or Beans isn't worth the risk, IMO. Real food will still exist when the doctor gives his/her ok, I'm sure.

Ok 3rd day post op. I'm having trouble getting all that liquid in . I'm having gas pain that is just horrible. I'm walking as dr ordered. My stomach keeps gargling and as soon as I sip on Water I have to burp. I have no incision pains haven't had to take any pain meds. As soon as I get a gas pain I start walking around the house that works. I do feel some pressure on the rip gastric area but I herd that is normal. I have a Jackson prat which collects Fluid or blood from the inside . I'm taking out about 15ml 3x a day. Feeling good. Can't wait to get to the gym!

It's so surreal. I checked in this morning at 9:15 and had surgery at 11:15. Came out of surgery in a lot of pain and nauseated. Once I got hooked up to the pain pump and got a dose of zofran I felt really good except I have been so very tired from the anesthesia. I am up and walking with almost no pain. My doctor allows ice chips thankfully because my mouth is really dry. Tomorrow morning I have another leak test (he does one in the OR) and then on clear liquids. Hopefully all goes well because I really want to go home! Once home I'm allowed to start on full liquids.
I hope everyone else's surgery's went well today! This is my first time on because I've been so tired and my eyes would not cooperate. Good luck to all those waiting!!

good luck to all of you. I am 5 days out and feel pretty good. no pain pills. getting good liquids and Protein in. first day or 2 sucks but it will get better. congrats. keep us all updated.

Well......the day has finally arrived! My surgery is scheduled for 10:45 am. I'm not really nervous or anything like that, I just want to get it over with. The thing I'm dreading the most is the two weeks of pureed food.....uggh......lol! But, I figure if I could get thru the last two weeks of following the preop diet, I should be able to chow down on mush too, right??? Anyway.....Best of luck to everyone whose surgery is this week. I'll be praying for your journeys and cheering you on from afar!

Dr didn't require a preop diet but wanted patients to lose 10 pounds. I am doing mostly liquid and Greek yogurt. Please keep this thread rolling. Makes me feel better knowing there are others that are in the same exact "boat".

I'm having surgery Monday September 15th as well. So excited can't wait for the day to come. A little nervous but I know everything is going to be ok. I was suppose to start my liquid diet today but I started it yesterday just to get my body prepared a day early..I was so grouchy..lol..but good luck to you all..we should keep in touch and go through yes change together

Me too!!! I was such a grouch yesterday but just excited and nervous today. Just want Monday to get here.
