How about some NSVs!?!?
nieuwevis replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well, this is related to the scale, but still a nsv lol i hadn't logged on here in a while and decided to update my ticker. it moved me to tears to have a visual representation of my journey. when you're a noob and you see everyone's success, you think, wow they've come so far and i'm just beginning! but, oh, when *your* ticker finally moves and even gets to the halfway mark, it feels soooooo great! i'm 71lbs from my highest weight, 48 from surgery. woohoo!! -
How much weight? How fast?
nieuwevis replied to gpmed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
do be patient! i just came out of a 3 week stall the end of july and the scales been moving ever since (with no shortage of lost inches!). lol when you're in it you think, aww man lol. but there is a light at the end of the tunnel -
hey! good here too. down 32lbs, feeling great. i tried on my wedding dress from years ago which is now too big, that was a fun treat. still one of my better decisions.

Anyone else's post op like this?
nieuwevis replied to Big Opie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
my plan is liquids for 2 days, 3-15 pureed and soft, 15+ normal. I'm in Europe. did you ask your dr why this is his plan? -
Starting year two, feeling hopeless

I'm not a vet, but i did notice you said nothing of exercise. I've read others say changing the exercise routine can kickstart a stall. -

now 22 days post op, down 30 lbs, no longer snoring which is great, wearing clothes from 4 years ago. becoming more energetic by the day, but still need to try and get more in protein; i haven't yet found a good supplemental source (i live in the eu), but i do eat a protein for each meal. i have my first check up this afternoon. it's good to read we're all doing well! -

finally feeling like myself
nieuwevis replied to nieuwevis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lol apparently this site doesn't like my phone. what i wanted to write was after about 4 weeks, i finally feel my energy return and like i've found a rhythm...not perfect yet but definitely not feeling like crap or having regret. and i'm down 26 lbs, which is just fabulous. -
it's really insane how different some of our post op directions are. i, too, was eating soft foods by day 2, and in two days/2 weeks post op, i am allowed to eat just about any healthy thing. talk to your drs, surely they have their reasons.

How about some NSVs!?!?
nieuwevis replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nsvs all over the place! been the same weight for the last three days, so i decided to look at inches (which are sliding off like melted butta) in the form of fitting old clothes...easily slipped a dress that was already tight 3 years ago, tried on a snug but button able 17 jeans (at least 4 years) AND was able to cut the tag off some really cute red ballet flats i bought online a year ago. i know what i'm wearing out tomorrow! woot! -
I haven't read all the replies so this may have been asked already, but are you ashamed that you had (or had to have) your surgery? You keep saying you don't want to live in the past...I guess I don't really understand how a surgery you got six months ago is living in the past. I hope this doesn't come across as rude, but it really sounds like you should speak with someone about some of the mental hangups and self hatred you're having regarding your weight.

was doing some serious crying today. ..hate eating, can't get in enough water, and it didn't help that baby was sick lol. but, I'm 6 days post op, so i figure it can only go up! I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm now forced to deal with issues i didn't know i had, and I'm excited about the renewed me on the other side of this journey.

GOT MY DATE - JUNE!
nieuwevis replied to lisaanewme67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hello! 2nd day post op, feelin fine. gas is annoying but manageable. i agree with pp, it's so crazy how different each journey is. i was expecting this and this and that but that's not been my experience so far. even my post op diet is soooo different from what I've read for others. but i am so glad to be on this side. i was holding my baby girl and i just got so excited thinking about the things I'll be able to do with her in a smaller body. what a gift. -
abbie, may i ask why you were switched? ooh just a few more days for us!

I'm scheduled June 9...they literally told me 2 days ago. So I'm freaking out a little lol. I'm excited, though, just feel a little unprepared, starting to reread all the tips and whatnot. How have you guys been preparing?

I had started and finished my round of preapproval visits Oct to Dec and placed on a waiting list. Got the call today that surgery is in 11 days! Geez, lol no wiggle room when i was hoping I'd have at least a month's notice, but I'm excited to make it work

I'm sorry you're struggling...from what I've read so far, the first couple of weeks are the hardest. I hope that you can find a support group! Wish I could help you, but I haven't had the surgery yet and I'm no longer in the Atlanta area But if you need to chat, I'm available!

Please help, I'm so scared
nieuwevis replied to salem244's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still in the deciding phase... I'm on this site for more info and, well, courage. two of my sisters in law have done the bypass and were successful. i just had my first baby in april and am two years married... I'm also scared of what could happen. and i have the same conflicting feelings you have! but think about how much more improved your life will be! lol I'm telling myself that too!
