  1. no advice, only 5 months in. but you look fantastic.
  2. on some level, i did the surgery to (also! not primarily) convince my sister to consider it. she and i were the heavy ones, only childless ones up til last year. we did everything together. i've married and moved away, and i know she's not very happy. my heart hurts so much for her. she's always been bigger, but when she was younger, she carried it well and had so much confidence. i know if she loses the weight, she'll be happier (though i do wonder if it'll uncover some other issues, i think her life would improve greatly). when we talk, she never asks about my wls. like yall said, when we were bigger, we knew. eta she doesn't ask, and i don't bring it up.

    Revision?

we've probably had so many instances of losing-gaining-losing that when we do see a gain after a loss, we throw in the towel. if you work the tool, that won't be your outcome...you'll lose the weight. stalls, in the beginning, are discouraging. for me, after seeing the pattern of losing then stalling or even gaining before another big loss, i am no longer discouraged by the stalls. i knew i would stall after getting to 199...i sat there for about 10 days. already lost 4 lbs in last 3 days. be patient and kind to yourself.
  6. i remember the very day i was exiting onederland. i was 17, so around then was the first time. i just video chatted with a cousin who hasn't seen me since the surgery, and he said "wow, i haven't seen that face in 10 years! "
  7. I'm only 5 months in, and it's going great. I'm down 89 from surgery, had no real complications, and have no regrets. Best of luck to you!
  8. i've just been noticing a pattern of feeling colder than normal right before my weight starts to drop again...5 months post op. any others have similar experiences?

    African American RNY Sisters

hi! i have a question...what styles have yall been doing to deal with any hair loss? my hair was already fragile from pregnancy, so now it's so terrible. i'm afraid, though, to try any protective braided styles, if it'll make it worse. i would love some braids though

    How about some NSVs!?!?

i went out with the kids (and my kid at heart brothers in law) to scare friends for halloween, and i kept up without giving any thought...until my bil asked if i was ok, just out of consideration. it was nice to realize that i was easily walking with the fast paced rest, sometimes even leading.

    Skinny chasers

i used to *looove* when strangers would come up to me, on my morning bus ride to school, and say "smile!" and get pissy if i didn’t. screw you, this is my face. it's that same kind of mentality. i get to choose the me i wanna be.

    Skinny chasers

i was flipping through a random bodybuilding forum looking for advice and saw some meat head bros talking about how they treat their women...it was so ugly, just like how you describe but worse. so, yes, there is a subset of thin fetishists and fat haters...did you see that recent youtube video with the female "comedian" ripping on overweight people? it's been said already: you definitely experienced an -ism...i ruefully chuckled at parisshel's date experience...people surely show their true colors when they're convinced no one's watching.
  16. i remember the day exactly in high school when the scale was 199. i cried to my sister that if i ever go over, i would never get back. and for a over decade, i believed and lived that lie. my highest recorded weight is 299 (right when i found out i was pregnant)...and, of course, my mind went back to that day in high school. baby was born in april 2014, i had my first consultation at the operating hospital in october. it was amazing to see that number again and finally be proud of it.
  17. It really trips me out too how much the face can change. My face looks like a complete different person! Even the shape of my brows and nose is different. I wasn't ugly before I lost weight but my skin and face did not look healthy because of the food I was putting in my body. I've never been at this weight before and wasn't sure what I would look like but I'm loving it! And loving seeing everyone else's beautiful faces emerge as well!! ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1445706829.751552.jpg omg, perfect example. i love how your big eyes pop! you're gorgeous!
  18. wow, everyone's lovely. i love seeing how losing weight changes our faces...you can really see all the true shapes and structures. just gorgeous. like, for me, i see that my eyes are much bigger than i realized. loving it.

omg, it's really quite ridiculous, isn't it. now i understand the death stares from colleagues when i would turn on my fan in november. haha i swear, my husband said my butt is getting bigger and i said how is this possible. he said, i don't know, your thigh fat moved to your booty! lmaoI heard the same thing from a guy friend! He said, "your butt is getting bigger!" I said, "No, love. It's getting firmer and higher!" Squats and Spin class, honey! Lol Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk lol ok!
