  1. I haven't been the fastest loser but I would try to find things that make you feel your restriction better. For me steak or chicken over fish. Shrimp is good. I stay away from any carbs that don't make you feel very full. For me, if I feel hungry at the end of the day I eat half an apple and that texture makes me feel full and satisfied. I might be able eat 200 calories easily of fat free yogurt and still feel hungry later. There was a great post about how restriction works (pyloric valve) once but I couldn't find it. Most importantly don't let anyone on this board make you feel like you are failing. Everyone has a different experience. Good luck!

    Holiday Weight Loss Challenge!

This is painful. 206.2. Just hoping for below 205 in 2015.
  3. I've lost about 4lbs this month but stalled for the last 2-3 weeks. I know that it's been socializing and not having as much control over my food. I know I haven't worked out enough. I need to get back on treacle! I'm down about 53lbs on 5 months.

Getting to be impossible to lose!

I don't know that I am a slow loser I am down about 53lbs so far 5 1/2 months. I am almost 42 and no menopause yet. I do know I lost faster with my lap band when I was 33 but I also didn't have kids then and was able to work out more and eat better (3 year old and 5 year old around) so I don't know if is my age or lifestyle or both Is 53lbs in 5 1/2 months slow? I think it is more like there are average losers and then there are some that are REALLY FAST LOSERS. I think that 85lbs in a year for Babbs is more like the average but it is hard not to compare ourselves when we see all these amazing losers reporting huge losses. For me I am thrilled to be more comfortable in my body and more active. If I could lose another 32lbs and be down 85lbs by my one year mark in 6 1/2 months I would be very pleased.

    Need some perspective!

Thanks. I'm trying not to feel so down.
  7. This was me after I got down to my ideal weight after my band. So sad it didn't last!!

    Holiday Weight Loss Challenge!

    207. Not making goal this time
  9. How long ago was your band removed? I found it very hard to stop gaining weight after removal. I would go for it to help you maintain. You won't lose too much. It's a revision that is why it was approved.

Getting to be impossible to lose!

I feel you too. I am also a slower loser. I am actually losing more slowly now than I did with my lap band 8 years ago. I am trying to remember that it doesn't matter a bit if I lose the weight by any given date just as long as I lose it! I think the answer is to just keep pushing forward. You can do it!
  11. I am always the same way. I feel thin now but my bmi tells a different story . Trust me it's much better to feel thin than not! Also you have had amazing results! I had no people diet and am down 52lb but my surgery was 3 weeks before you! Great job.
  12. I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. Take care of yourself and also make sure to be kind to yourself.

    When are the "typical" stalls?

I feel like I stall at weights where I hung out for a while. Just a hunch.

    Phentermine after gastric sleeve

Hi @kindle. My nutritionist and surgeon are at one of the leading research centers for bariatric surgery in the world in New York. In fact the practice pioneered the sleeve surgery as part of the 2 step ds surgery. I know this is hard to accept and I don't like medication either but there is much support for using medication along side bariatric surgery in some cases. Many would say that bariatric surgery is drastic! Anyway I took every drug in the book and much prefer to stay away from meds if possible but I would never judge someone else's journey or process.

    Phentermine after gastric sleeve

I've taken it too. I meant I didn't know about sleeve with phentmerine. I hope I wasn't unclear. I just meant that weight loss medication might be a realistic future for some of us. I sure hope not. Anything to avoid regain.

    Phentermine after gastric sleeve

You are going to get a lot of negative feedback about weight loss medication here. I don't know the specifics about phentmerine but my surgeons office was very clear from the start that studies are showing that some medications are extremely useful in long-term maintenance and even achieving goal for some wls patients. There does come a time that it becomes harder and harder to maintain your goal as your body fights to regain weight. Also as a revision patient my nutritionist said it might be harder to reach goal. There seems to be a symbiotic relationship between wls and some medications and that the medications are more effective. I have been losing steadily, but if I stopped losing I wouldn't hesitate to do anything possible to avoid regain. I wouldn't use meds to speed up my loss as long as I am moving downwards.

    Caffeine

I was allowed starting at 3 weeks out.

Scared with a lot to think about

I would see a different surgeon. My surgeon gave me a MUCH lower figure. I would certainly not have a revision with a surgeon who has only done half a dozen.

    Slow losers

You aren't a slow loser! You are average. My surgeons office said my loss of 35lbs at 3 months was perfect. At 4 1/2 months I'm over 50lb loss. Let's say this. Some people on here are FAST losers but 35lbs at 3 months is great. Go try and pick up 7- 5lb sacks of sugar.
  21. I've lost 50lbs in 4 1/2 months. I feel successful.
  22. I just had 2 days of clear liquids

The fear of regain is REAL!

Your metabolism will change. As a revision patient I need fewer calories. In short your body becomes more efficient over time. The first few years losing and maintaining will be easier than it will be for you 5-10 years out or longer.
