I posted about this on another thread. But I have been significantly increasing exercise for 2 weeks and have gained almost 4 lbs. I'm not eating more. If anything I've lowered carbs and increased Protein. I'm so bummed
-
Thank you! I really love spinning though
-
So now it's been 2 weeks of increased exercise. Spinning 5 times a week for 30 or 45 minutes and free weights. I'm still ip 4lbs. Has anyone experienced this? Also I'm hydrating well, eating 70-100 grams of Protein and carbs under 40 per day calories around 1000 and I am 42. This sucks. How long until I see results.

This sounds stressful. I'm not sure if this is the same for sleeve but I've known many bypass patients who were under weight for a couple of years but they dos eventually gain weight (sometimes quickly). I hope that you can get to a weight you are comfortable with!

Still the same 203.2.

Thanks.... I'm happy to.... I guess I was just reading some crazy weight loss stories and felt discouraged....
I read those too. Those huge early losses are the exception not the norm. What counts is how we are doing 18 months, 3 years, 5 years etc.
-
The first 6 months I raised my endurance level by walking. I decided to step it up a notch and I've been spinning 4 times this past week and I just noticed I've gained 4lbs. Please tell me it is temporary!

I had surgery July 9th....

Is my weight loss to slow? I'm averaging 1000 calories a day.... Doing cardio and yoga but haven't lost on three weeks....people tell me I'm not eating enough....is that possible?
I'm basically same as you. Started at 260 on 6/30 and am 203 now. I'm pleased.

First of all. 33lbs in 7 weeks is NOT slow!
I lost faster with the band but I was 8 years younger and had no kids - no kid food around etc. I also exercised more.
My nutritionist said that we do lose a bit slower. I think a lot of it is that we get used to restriction and (eating around) restriction. My nutritionist said also that our bodies have adapted to extreme deprivation of calories (like 600). That said, I have lost about 56lbs now at 6 months and that puts me 1/2 way to goal. We can't go back in time. A fast weight loss means absolutely nothing in the long term - those of you who lost and maintained with the band should understand that. I think we should also be wary of eating to capacity. I have a theory that those with the band long term became accustomed to the "full esophagus" feeling, that lump in your throat when you have eaten too much.

203.2 Thanks!

I had my band removed in Aug 2015 and the doctor had to remove a lot of scar tissue. I had the band in for 8 years. Had to have it removed because it had slipped and was causing me to have extreme gerd and vomiting in my sleep. I am scheduled to have the Gastric Sleeve, Jan 21 and started my Pre-Op diet today.
A good surgeon will do the band to sleeve in 2 surgeries to prevent complications. The stomach has been compromised from the Band causing excessive scar tissue. A compromised stomach needs to heal in order to prevent the staples not holding once the sleeve is done. My surgeon told me I won't be as restricted with the sleeve as a patient who hasn't been banded. I also spoke to an employee in the office who went from Band to Sleeve and she said it's true, we aren't as restricted and it's harder to loose the weight for us than the non compromised patients.
Unfortunately, I've gained almost all of my weight back after my band removal. I lost 100 pounds and kept it off for 7 years. I have gained about 80 of it back from August until now. This raised my BMI high enough, so my insurance will cover the surgery.
I maintained for many years and then gained all my weight back too but am down 56lbs since June 30th. Slower than my loss with band but doesn't matter.

Interesting! So for those of you who just had the band removed, did you go home the same day? I assumed I'd have to spend the night if this was the case.
I would ask. I've never heard of anyone spending the night for a removal. I suppose if it was very complicated you might. It was pretty easy except for where port was.
-
My surgeon only does it in 2 parts. He says that it cuts chances of a leak in half and also makes it easier to get a properly shaped sleeve. The removal was a cinch I was out in a few hours in time for lunch.

For me, the sleeve surgery was MUCH easier than the band. The only issue was the nausea that I had for about 2 days but that was pretty well controlled at the hospital. I was not so much sore as swollen. None of the port pain - it was really a totally different experience. I was back to my regular self in a week - then I threw out my back but that is a different story. The only real "issue" I faced was that I was more tired with this surgery and for longer. I even find eating much easier now.

Thank you. You must have been successful long term
...... I can tell you that the rate at which you lose weight, particularly in the first few months does not relate in any way to your long term success. !
I'm not nearly this far out, but everyone needs take these words to heart.... There's nothing more true. Those first few months, even the first year in no way represents what post WLS life is like. Thanks for sharing.
I am only 6 months out from my revisions! I maintained with my band until I had complications and regained almost everything. The first 2-3 years were the easiest.

I had surgery on Dec 17 my surgery weight was 238.8 and I am 224 now. I see so many who are losing faster.
Does anyone have suggestions?
I completely empathize with your stress. So many of us have placed a great deal of faith and gone to a lot of effort to get this surgery so it is natural to worry about failure. That said, I am a 8 1/2 year veteran of wls and I can tell you that the rate at which you lose weight, particularly in the first few months does not relate in any way to your long term success. Best of luck!

I just got over a huge 3-4 period of no weight loss and then lost 2/12 lbs in 2 days. I don't think for me it was a stall. I was traveling and home with sick kids and wasn't able to get as much exercise in and also junky "bites" crept in to my diet over the holidays. I think that a stall over 2-3 weeks warrants a careful look at your food and Water intake. Best of luck to you! I am 6 months out myself and down slightly over 55lbs.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this! Sending you positive healing thoughts!
-
Thanks for doing this. My starting weight is 206. My goal is 199. Happy New year!
-
I am in! I did terribly this last challenge. I haven't weighed in over a week but I'll post a start weight and goal on Monday when I get home from vacation!
-
I'm pretty slow too! I've lost 3lbs this month. You don't sound that slow though. You probably just had a slow down after the initial huge drop the first 2 weeks.

I am not going to be able to update until next week (Monday) because I am on vacation. I was 206.2 before k left. I'm not too optimistic about losing much.

I had the band for 8 years. Revised almost 6 months ago and haven't pb or slimed once. It's a much easier surgery in my experience. You will be well prepared to eat properly.
