  1. I too hit stalls and also had one pretty early on. Just increase your activity slightly and be very strict with your diet. Make sure you are getting your Protein. My change in activity ever so slight, helps me give a signal to my body that it is allowed to lose weight. So if you are walking pick up the pace or even do some mild lifting...the point is to change it up a bit. I put in 20 minutes of cardio. Good luck you will absolutely lose the weight you want and your body will cooperate. I hit stalls every 3 weeks and was told my weight loss when charted would look like a stairway and it does. Gain a few for a number of days, level off for a few days then it goes down. Getting used to the pattern but it still bothers me, I am 10 weeks out.

  2. Just experienced my first horrible night. I am 10 weeks out. I ate one slice of rare beef, potatoes and a gravy sauce with pineapple and garlic in it. I started having some sharp cramping pains about 10 minutes later. I managed to rest and drive home. Later, I thought I was not going to make it through the night. Severe stabbing pain for 5-6 hours that came and went initially and then by 11pm to 2am became pretty intense. Vomiting was an issue. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced a similar situation? Is this because I ate such rich food? Is this a gallbladder issue? I am feeling pretty fragile today, can't really eat much just living on liquid diet today. I feel like I was beat up.

Looking for some help explaining this. Thanks!

  3. Eating out is a big problem. I am two months out today, down 45lbs. I am constantly ordering too much food when out. I am honestly hungry when I go into the restaurants but end up eating almost nothing. I am best when I can just let my kids finish my meal. I have found that most potato products go down easy. Mashed potatoes was a savior in a few restaurant situations when the Soups did not work early on. I was able to eat Applebees salmon wth the artichoke sauce and mashed red potatoes as one of my first meals. Very little of it, but it went down easy. The sauce was the key, I ordered extra sauce and took it home. Avoid all bread and Pasta, it just does not work. I ordered a bowl from Chipolte yesterday, little rice, both Beans, carnitas, salsa, sour cream and cheese. It takes about 3 meals to finish but it was good to eat on the road. I found some great Protein Bars that work when away also. They actually go down fairly well. For Breakfast, finely ground oat bran is good, and it is simple to bring on the road and make in a microwave. Hope these tips help!

  4. They have probably noticed something different, but have no idea how much weight you have lost. No one has asked me or mentioned that I look thinner or better and I am down 44lbs in less than 2 months and it is noticable! My kids can't find me in public places because I look different. Anyway, I have said that I am dieting and working with a dietician to get anyone off my back. I have eaten a piece of pizza (small) or something and comment OK in moderation. I order Soup alot! That is easy to eat a larger quantity of and also goes with the dieting. Leftovers are a problem in restaurants, I agree! So think about ordering soup next time and see how that goes. You can always say, I had something earlier and not hunger also.

  5. I am almost 2 months out, I feel great! I am 49 and was feeling lethargic daily and started not wanting to do a lot of things because of my weight and looks. I am 44 lbs down and my energy level is very high. I have had some orthopedic surgeries (knee and ankle) and they are not bothering me even though I am more active. It is hard work to find things to eat and learn how to eat incredibly slowly along with pacing eating and drinking throughout the day, but no other diet has ever worked this well for me ever. I am taking my Vitamins twice a day and trying to eat foods that will give more more nutrients whenever possible. I do miss salads and some other things, but the benefits outway the inconveinances. I had some "buyers remorse" immediatley after surgery for the first week wondering what I had done, but after I got my energy level back I have not had that feeling again. I feel 10 years younger :)

If you have health problems or forsee them in your future because of your weight, this surgery is life expanding and should be considered especially if you have insurance to cover it today. I could have waited since I did not have diabetes or a heart condition yet, but I got the insurance coverage this year and know that many will not offer it so I took a leap of faith and did it. I am so glad I did. I am looking better but more importantly feeling so much healthier than I have in a long time!

  6. The same thing happened to me. You're going to have many of the stalls so don't fret it. I am now 6 weeks out had at least 3 stalls. To get my metabolism up I increased my activity I did some light weight lifting I also did some cardio and drink a lot of green tea. It only took one session of cardio and one session of mild weight lifting on my arms to get me back on track. If you do nothing to change the style will eventually and if you'd like to speed up so that it will end sooner then change up your routine a little bit.

  7. I did very well with my recovery, but did not feel good about driving for about 4 days. I was very tired and had severe headaches. I was off narcotic pain meds after first day home. I suggest getting liquid Tylenol (Drug Mart carries their own brand) for pain if you don't need the heavy stuff. It helped me a lot and not many side effects. I took it about 3-4 times after I got home for pain and headaches. I think the headaches were from the drugs at the hospital and also to the food withdrawal (like an addict). They were debilitating and rest helped.

  8. I hope it solves your problem. If you come to another stall just remember we sometimes have to trick your body to lose weight. I did some light weight lifting and increased my cardio for a few days and also drank a lot of green tea and I broke a stall. I was stuck for 8 days that only just over a week out. Now I lost another eight or nine pounds so it helps a lot

  9. Have you had surgery before? If so I think you know what you're in store for you not going to feel well for the first few days . I was lucky I've had two cesarean sections and a couple orthopedic surgeries so this surgery seems a lot easier than those. My worst problem is always the pain medications they make me feel very sick . If you are similar I would recommend progressing to liquid tylenol as soon as you can . This way you can avoid some of the side effects from the pain medications . And hopefully start feeling normal soon. I walked as much as possible after surgery like I was told . I felt normal after 6 days although I tired easily . I had my surgery on August 14th.

  10. I am 2 1/2 weeks out of gastric bypass, been doing everything by the book as far as eating, drinking and increasing my exercise. I am so frustrated because I have not lost a pound in over 8 days. I lost 15 the first week plus the 10 I gained at the hospital with fluids and now nothing. I can't understand why living on 800 calories or less along with exercise is not producing any weight loss. Anybody have any tips?

I have increased my exercise, I am starting some mild strength training (yesterday), I have tried to eat some "normal" food and not just liquids as allowed, I am walking 8000-10000 steps a day and increasing my speed. I have just begun to add green tea today to speed up my metabolism. I seems impossible not to loose weight. Looking for some answers and hope.
