  1. I had my surgery on 11-08-07 and have lost 106 lbs. pre and post op. I am lower than Dr.s goal but would like to lose a little more. Having a problem with stress eating since DH got layed off. That demon will be with me always, I guess. My health is much improved and type 2 diabetes is gone. A little shocked at all the saggy skin but it is better than 106 lbs of fat !!! Best thing I ever did, just wish it was around 30 yrs. ago. I guess at 60 I can't expect to look like I am 20. Best of luck to all of my fellow Nov. bandsters and keep up the good work and hang in there!!!!

  2. Hi everyone, this is zippykat and I am still around. I just don't post too often. I have lost 105 lbs.and am 5 lbs. from goal and that last 5 sure does want to stick around. Had a few rough times when DH lost his job but am really trying again. Now I just need to come up with the money for my TT!!!! Congrats to all and keep up the good work!

    Love, zippy

  3. Hi kini,

You have talked to many of us online and you know we are worried about dying but we will die from our weight if we don't do it. You are young and so lucky to be able to do this now. I wish I hadn't had to do this at 59. I would have given anything to have it done at your age. You know we all will be there for you and I will come over and take care of you if you need me!!! Or take you to the hosp.and stay with you! If you go with Dr. S. you will have the best surgeon in Denver. Please don't worry and know all your chat friends will support you all the way!!!!

    Love, zippykat

  4. My name is Kathy and I would love to try to help you any way I can. I have been banded almost 7 mos and have lost 89 lbs pre and post op. I am having trouble getting my last 10-20 lbs to go away! I live near Tower and Illif. My email is katincol@hotmail.com. Write me any time you feel like it. I am 59 so we are close in age and it can be done! Sounds like you have a great family. I look forward to meeting you one day. I have met 2 women from Denver and they both are very nice! Who is your Dr.? I went to Michael Snyder at Rose medical center. Good luck on your surgery and email me! Kathy

  5. I have had my band for 6 mos. and am having my first flare of IBS since surgery. I am having severe gas and bloating and pain in my large intestine. Also alternating with Constipation and diarreha. I have tried all my old remedies and nothing has been working. Do any other banders have this problem and have any help for me. Any suggestions welcome!!

    Thanks, zippykat :D

  6. I have a cute NSV to share. My just turned 6 yr. old granddaughter said to me today" Grandma you look taller. Now you are straight up and down like me." Made me feel good because she is a little skinny thing. She is the first grandkid to notice and she is the youngest. Made me feel good because I have been plateaued for 4 weeks.

  7. Well everybody I made my goal of 7 lbs. and more. I lost 8.4 lbs. and had a 4 week plateau. I didn't think I would make it!!! I'm waiting for the next challenge! Lets do it again. Congrats to all who participated.

Love, Kathy Actually I just looked at chart and started at 173 and am now at 158.6 so I lost 13 through the whole challenge. Someone had posted my 1st loss for me and 7 lbs was final lbs to lose. I don't know how change my weight on the chart. Again, congrats to all who did it!

  8. I went to Dr. Snyder for a variety of reasons. My son worked for him and says he is the best and most experienced Dr. in Denver. I was self pay and he is more expensive but When I was in for a fill I heard his nurse say Dr. Kirshenbaum was sending Dr. Snyder a patient and that reinforced my decision. Dr. Snyder has many classes, support groups, online chats, cooking classes, exercise classes and many support systems. His staff is great at fills and they don't hurt at all. I have been extremely happy with my banding experience with Dr. Snyder. My son is a Surgical Assistant and has worked with most bariatric doctors in Denver and swears Dr. Snyder is the best. I hope you enjoy his seminar. They are great! Let us know who you decide on and good luck.

    Kathy

  9. Dear Magdalene,

I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how it feels. You did get pregnant which is a good sign because many overweight women stop having periods. With the grace of God it will happen again. I can't believe you could lose all that weight and not get the wonderful reward of a child. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless!

    Love, Kathy

  10. I had a wonderful NSV today. Went to Walmart and happened to pass swimsuits and looked and saw some with longer skirts that will cover tummy hangover. I knew an18 would fit so I took a 16 knowing by summer I could wear it. Got home, tried it on and it's only a little tight, I could wear it now. When I took it off I realized it was a 12-14 missy. I almost fainted. That was happy NSV for me!!!!!!

  12. I was banded on 11-08-07 and have lost 54 lbs. Within 30 days my type 2 diabetes was gone. Back and knee pain is so much better. Actually can go to gym and work out! Lost lots of fat but still have a saggy tummy so guess I will need a TT. Gravity has won out after 59 years. Best decision I ever made and love to share with Nov. Nymphs. Continued good luck to all.

    Love, Kathy

  13. Frisky 1,

The support groups are free and everyone is welcome. I go in Aurora on Sat. morn. and it is only 1 time a month. The help there is tremendous and I wouldn't miss one. Go and check it out! I hate when they are over. Give it a try! Kathy Let me know if you go!

  14. I appreciate coming on here because fo the anonimity it gives me. I was very tiny as a small child and when I was 4 or 5 I was molested by a stranger. Of course I never told anyone and proceeded to gain 30 lbs.in 1 year. My mom blamed it on the fact that I had my tonsils out around that time and it must have changed my metabolism. I am 59 and been overweight since that time. Since the band 4 mos.ago I have lost 63 lbs. and for the first time in 53 yrs. I am starting to like me. I wish it had been around 30 yrs ago. I think alot of overweight people have some emotional issues in their past. I never really have talked about this very much. I'm sure therapy would help but I was self pay and just can't afford it now. Just wanted to share my story with people who never judge or sermonize. Good luck to everyone on their journey..... And by the way, Jack, You're great. I think I'm in love with you.

  15. I'm joining 'Curves' tomorrow! I can't wait! Just wanted to shout it out. I'm really excited. I've been stuck at -13 lbs. since 2 weeks post-op, and even with the little tiny bit of restriction I got after my first fill, I'm still not losing any weight. I know I need to step it up in the exercise department...so here's to hoping that the pounds will begin to come off! I get my 2nd fill March 19th and maybe that will help also. I gotta reset my siggy to reflect my new goals. I'm in a size 22 jeans right now and I need to get into a size 18 jeans before the last weekend in April when my husband and I will be going on another coaster trip with his friends. I do NOT wanna be on the sidelines again for fear of not fitting onto the roller coasters. If I get into those 18's, then I know I won't have any issues. "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can..."

Krista, I am also joining Curves tomorrow. I am 59 and need a program I can work into. Iam very exited and also nedd now to start exercising. Good luck and we'll compare how we're doing. Kathy:thumbup:

  16. Dear Kendra,

I'm so sorry to hear the news but medical advances have achieved so much in the last years. I beat cancer and so did my mom and so can you!You will be in my thoughts and prayers every day. Talk to us whenever you need support. Blessings on you and your family.

    Love, Kathy

  17. Nobody seems to have my problem. I'm 59 and my stomach has hung down for many years. (dang gravity) I have trouble finding a suit with a top long enough to to cover my "apron". Lane Bryant catalog is the only place to find one that will cover me.I have lost 63 lbs. but my tummy is not really getting much smaller. I guess when I get to goal I will need a Tummy Tuck. I went to Kohls to see if I get something to support my tummy(ie girdle) and when I asked the skinny ,young girl if they had any girdles she asked me what a girdle was. I felt like slapping her. LOL Not my day. Guess I'll have to wait for my tummy tuck!

  18. My name is kathy and I was banded11-08-07. I lost 11 lbs. pre-op and 45 since surgery for a total of 61. I have a 14 band that had a 3cc fill when it was put in which I think helped alot. I've had 2 fills, one was 3ccs anda1cc fill so I have 7ccs in a 14 band. My Dr. keeps us restricted so I can only eat 1/2 to 1 cup at a time.I'm glad I had the pre-fill. I wasn't hungry for 5 weeks. Good luck to all of you!

  19. I chose my Dr. because my son had worked for him as a surgical assistant and told me NOT to go to anyone else. He has an impeccable reputation. I would go to seminars and talk to patients and check and see what support the Dr. offers post surgery. My Dr. has at least 10 support groups all over town, he has exercise and cookin and nutrition classes and any Dr.s patient are always welcome. After surgery support is very important. You need to ask how soon you can get in for a fill. Some people on here wait 1 or 2 mos.! My Dr. gets you in in1 or 2 days. Just ask evrey Question you can think of before you decide. good luck and keep us up to date! Kathy
