  1. I most definately would have it done again! I don't regret a thing!! I'm looking forward to a lighter and happier me!
  2. No judging here shiny - none of us are perfect in our journey!
  3. I'll let ya know! I'm going to the casino with a bunch of friends from my old work tonight and we are going to the buffet! Thank goodness it will be a free one because I can tell you I wouldn't be able to get my money's worth if I had to pay!
  4. In all honesty, if you get your fills like you should and get the right restriction you have no option but to not eat as much. I didn't get good restriction until my last fill back on October 1st. 2007 was a very horrible year for me personally with my family so I put myself on the back burner for awhile. I finally went in again in Oct and had gained 3 lbs! I was furious with myself, got a fill and it's been great from then on out. I've lost 36lbs since October and I'm pleased with myself. Some days I can eat more than others, it's just hit and miss. A week or so after I got my band I did wonder why the heck I got it because I did miss food and eating like I had. I will say, that gets SOOO much better over time as you see yourself getting skinnier and you feel more confident! I went back to my old work a couple of days ago to have lunch with a friend who still worked there. I said "hi" to a girl who was walking in, she kinda smiled, said hi and went on her merry way. I sent her an email today and said "it was nice to see you the other day, sorry we couldn't chat". She sent it back and said she was sorry but she didn't recognize me at first cause I lost so much weight and look so good! That makes it all worth it!!!! :grouphug: Good luck to you! Kel
  5. I only recently told my husband as the pounds were coming off. I was proud of myself so I had to tell someone and who better to tell than someone who has supported and loved me all these years! I also make him look at how baggy my jeans are! LOL Poor guy, he'll probably be happy when all is said and done for more than one reason! Kel
  6. Ughhhhh.... don't even remind me it's getting swim suit season! No no no...lalalalalalala.. don't wanna hear it!
  7. I was on Phentermine years ago and it worked great I just can't take it anymore. It causes a lump in my throat and it's like I constantly have to clear my throat. I honestly think it makes my thyroid swell! Good stuff though if I didn't have the side effects!
  8. LOL...me to Angel... As far as looking ugly, I'm not so sure I'm worried about that, but I can tell you I have noticed way to many wrinkles around my eyes now and that bothers me. And...thanks to my lovely daughter for pointing it out to me! LOL.... There is a girl that I worked with who got a bypass done and now she looks like a Shar Pei!! To make matters worse she thinks florescent clothes with matching shoes are still in style!!!! Ughhhh... I just wanna take her and put her in front of a mirror and say "what's wrong with this picture"!!! I do think the older you are when you lose the weight makes a big difference of how you will look when all is said and done. Honestly, I see older people who look better heavy then they do thin. PLEASE don't let that be me!!!!!!
  9. You tell that little missy that when she pays for it she can decide what you can and can't do, but until that time it's your business!!!
  10. I just realized that I went from a BMI of 45 at my surgery date to a 38 as of a couple weeks ago!!!!! Thanks for posting this, what a boost for the ego!
  11. I have a 10cm band and I have 2.5cc's in it right now. It seems to be a perfect amount for me! Some days I can eat more than others and some days I can eat things I couldn't the day before. Strange how that happens. I had this fill back on 1 Oct 07 and I've lost 32lbs since then. It's slow but that's the way to go I'm told! Good luck to all! Kel
  12. Found this today while I was poking around the web. I've been having aweful memory and concentration problems the past few months and that's what lead me to this. Symptom specific to severe Vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency anemia: swelling of the mouth or tongueI have an appt with my FP doctor tomorrow, I'll make sure I'm tested and keep ya posted. Kel
  13. Sure is funny how different doctors have you do different things. I belived I only had to do a pre-op diet for 2 days! It was 2 day of hell though! LOL
  14. Sorry Kat, just saw you replied. Yes - I have two kids, one 16 and one 18 and they both do live at home. Would love to go to a hotel one night or away for a weekend, but my 18yr old can be a little sh*t so I don't want to leave him at the house unattended just yet. Actually I think he would be fine but my husand thinks of the worst all the time. Men...sheesh! Our time will come again, just have to wait it out! Have a great day! Kel
  15. WOW... wonder if it has to do with what plan you have with UHC. I was approved the first time with no hassles what-so-ever. Other than problems with my back I had no other health issues. No high BP, low cholesterol and sugars are great! Good luck to you!!! Kel
  16. Never said I was going to do it, I know common sense would prevail, but it was just something I've thought about. Yes, I see wrinkles under my eyes here and there and I have such a lovely teenage daughter that just had to point them out too! :smile2: I don't honestly see myself with anyone but my husband, you can all relax! Have a good week! Kel
  17. Thanks for the great advise MAMA KAT! He has always shown me affection but there is just something about it from someone you haven't been with for 24yrs total. I need to try to find a way to get the 'butterfly' feeling back with him!:tongue2: I can say that losing weight certainly does help in the intamency department!!!! Funny the things you can do with a few pounds gone! LOL I'll take your advise and work on it! Thanks again! Kel
  18. I too have a few demon thoughts in the back of my mind that I'm praying I won't let take over me when I lose all my weight! Some background - I was heavy from I would say, age 8, until the summer going into my Sophomore year of high school. I dropped from 180 to 135 over that summer (see what boys do to you)! I did look good, it was a good weight for my 5'7" frame. I lived overseas at the time and I was surrounded by young military guys who loved to show a blonde hair/blue eyed girl alot of attention! I absolutely LOVED all the attention - what a difference from the earlier part of my life where I was teased all the time! I had fun while I was over there then we got sent back to the States. I met my husband at our next base state side. I met him in 85 and we got married in 86 when I turned 18. We had a son 3 yrs after we got married and a daughter 2.5 yrs after that. I will be married for 22 yrs this year. I started to put the weight back on when I had the kids and it just never came off. As a matter of fact I just gained more. My husband has NEVER EVER said one word about my weight, he says he loves me no matter what and he doesn't care!! For that I'm very thankful cause it's been a uphill battle for me with my weight and self esteem without him adding to it. We do have a good marriage, ups and downs like any relationship but I do think it's pretty solid. Phewww...ok, now to the point....I remember what it felt like when I lost weight before and how I liked the attention and a part of me really craves that again. I just hope that I don't step over the line at all because I do love my husband dearly and I don't want to jeoperdize what we have. I think that is in the back of his head too because of a couple of comments he's made over the years. I know in my heart I couldn't have anyone better than him, his momma trained him well (shhh..don't tell her I said that) and he loves me unconditionally! Well, just thought I would throw my two cents in. Hopefully I'm not the only one like this out there! Take care! Kel
  19. So.... I go to my band doc on Monday, actually I saw her PA, and just as I thought she has never heard of this before. She is going to do some research and call me when she knows something. Since I'm back to square one I'll update you once I hear from her and let you know either way. Till then.... have a good one! :biggrin2: Kel Ohhhh....the best part is I've lost 30lbs since 1 October!
  20. Well thank goodness Grace, I was beginning to think I was the only one! I was thinking about the allergy thing too as mentioned above, but it's never consistant. Like today, I had little bit of some cheesy potatoes that was brought in for a food day here at work and it happened. There is never any rhyme or reason and it doesn't happen everyday. The only thing that does stay the same is it happens with my first meal of the day. I am gonna make an appt with my doc and see what she says. For some reason I don't think this is something she's probably heard much about. I will certainly keep you posted on what I find out! Feel free to drop me an email also Grace! Take care! :biggrin2: Kel
  21. Ok... so... I have looked everywhere I possibly can the past month for a reason this happens to me and I've had NO luck! Hopefully I'm not the only nutty one out there that this happens to. When I eat my first meal of the day (doesn't matter what it is), more times than not, the roof of my mouth swells and becomes very painful. It feels like small bumps on either side of that little line down the middle, and sometimes in the middle at the end of the line. It lasts from 2-5 minutes then it goes away and doesn't happen again for the rest of the day. I'm assuming they are lymph nodes but have no clue at all why they swell. I suppose I need to go in and ask the doc but I have a feeling she'll think I'm a fruitcake! Have any of you experienced this before or know someone who has? Thanks! Kel
  22. The button on my jeans sometimes gives me the same thing. It's like I have an allergic reaction to the metal in the button. Good luck!
  23. My friend who was banded about 2 months after me just went through her 2nd surgery in as many months because her port just won't stay put. She is doing great and looks forward to a fill on Monday! Don't let it discourage you, although all surgeries have risks, hers was a piece of cake she says. Good Luck!
  24. Other than these two boys in like 7th and 8th grade making comments, the only other thing that has ever stuck with me was a comment from my mother-in-law a few years back. She said to me "why don't you go get your stomach stapled"? I was dumbfounded, didn't quite know what to say other than "no, my aunt had it and now she has no stomach at all". I would never ask anyone that! That is something that is a personal decision and no one can make it for you! She now lives in another state and has no clue I got banded and never will if I can help it!!! I'm just want to go back there once I get my weight off and rub it in her face! When she lived in the same city as I am, we would go to a store, we would walk in, and she would go the opposite direction of me. I know it was because she didn't want to be seen with me. She is the kinda person who has to have her hair, makeup etc just right or she won't walk out of the house. I will have to say my husband was pretty pissed when he found out she asked me that! Unfortunately, most people now a days don't think before they open their mouths! Kel
  25. I would get skinny/sexy/beautiful and go shove it in those boys faces! :heh:
