I am really hoping that I can get it done by February 14-16 I have the week of the 16th off. The doctors I hope will call me Monday. Do any of you guys think it's still possibly that I wil be able to get it then it should I not have my hopes up? Thanks

Hi I'm getting closer to getting my date. I did everything that was needed had my endoscopy today and my 6 month weigh in was kind of done today as well ????. I need to go back to the surgeon who did the endoscopy two weeks from now to see if anything was wrong. I'm planning to have the band done in February since I have a week off (I'm a teacher and we have mid winter break). I was wondering if anyone on this site has had the band done in the New York area and where did they go for it

Where is the meeting at

No I'm in the Bronx

I'm don't remember the name of my dr off hand I know he did a famous new weatherman a surgery. I have been in the process of this for 6 months now. I guess I could have done in January but since I have off for a week in February I thought it would be smarter to wait

I went with a place called the OBand center they have offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn. With my insurance I'm able to have the surgery done in nyu instead of going all the way into brooklyn which I'm very happy about

What made you change your mind? Where are you going for your surgery? Good luck a super way to start the new year. Congrats

Running and triathlons after the lap band
stay75 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't gotten mine done yet still three more months of weigh inn for me but I do have more questions. I run now I have run a bunch of 1/2 marathons and have done serval triathlons and would still like to continue doing these things (especially since I will be loading weigh and it will be nice doing these things without all the extra weigh!!!). I was wondering if any of you have done these after the surgery (and I know not right After). I want to run my first marathon in my 40s (I turn in May and am thinking OF doing nyc marathon in 2015) which is why I'm asking if anyone does these and how is that going. I'm nervous because they say you can't chug water and I know sometimes without thinking I do b -
Good morning and HAPPY FRIDAY!!! Anyway I have some questions that I was hoping some of you great people can help me with Did you have to do a sleep study thing? If so why do we have to do it? I'm from New York and am going threw this process with the oband center they have locations in Brooklyn and the city. I'm just wanted to know if people liked them and what their thoughts were about this place?? I'm still have some time to go before stuff gets submitted to my insurance just wanted some help. Have a great day

I think it's a requirement for me. The place is about 1 hour away from my house and it's from 9pm-5am. I'm sure I'm not going to be able to sleep either. My BMI is at 41. Oh well I guess I will do it and get over it ha. Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me

I'm still at the beginning for this whole process but always thinking. I just started to work at a bran new school(I'm a kindergartner teacher for kid with autism) Though the school is new the building is very old with no elevator and we are on the 4th floor we actually counted and there is 114 steps to get up to our rooms. I'm hoping and trying to get then surgery during the schools winter break if not I was going to take off a Friday and if all is well go back to work Monday. My question is do you think I need to worry about all the stairs after the surgery?

Lisacaron thanks so much for the advice I will take it. Worse comes to worse instead of winter break I will wait until February. Thanks everyone

In about 210 the last time I checked so my BMI is around 41. I'm able to do it now in fact the pass two days I had to do it tons of time which once things are in full swing I will only have do it it maybe 3 times. For someone who is over weight I haven't let it stop me from doing big things. I have ran a bunch of 1/2 marathons and have done a few Olympic distance triathlons. I'm sure after I'm good from the surgery I will be able to get back into it just no chugging the Water. So you think I should take a week off after. (I know I have time just reading some of these stories I can't wait for the after part haha). Thanks all for your kind words and help

I just started this whole process (2 months in) and my insurance requires 6 months of weigh-inns before I can get the band. My question is during these 6 months does the insurance look for weight loss or it doesn't matter it's just checking your weight? (Don't know if this is a stupid questions but thanks for any help

Wow that's great!!! Thanks for the luck.

Good luck

The way I did it was by going to forum page and picking the topic I want it to go under and the upper right corner there is something to pick new thread. I don't know if I explained this right maybe someone will help out also. Good luck

Good luck tomorrow. Couldn't be a better day to get it done!!!

Thank you all so much for the best wishes and the advice. My BMI is also at 40. I am being more mindful to what and how I eat. My biggest concern is not being able to drink seltzer. I was brought up on drinking that stuff. I love the more bubbles the better but I have the soda stream and am starting to not add so much bubbles to get used to it. And now I'm trying all different exercise classes so this was I can do more then just run. Thanks again all for you help. I'm very excited for this
