  7. Yes, I had my surgery on 07/29, and my surgeon was Dr. Tanaka too! Just had my one week follow up yesterday. If you have any questions just let me know. Don't worry though, you're in excellent hands! Congrats!
  8. I had my dogs taken care of outside my home as I was worried about the same thing. However, by the 2nd day after being released from the hospital I asked for them back, as I was feeling so good. Haven't had any issues. Also been doing housework and laundry, which requires multiple bending, and again, no problem. Good luck!

  14. Good for you for making them let you re weigh! Seriously, kudos! I would have been devastated too, if they made a mistake that messed up my surgery timeline. Give yourself a great big pat on the back! Congrats!
  15. I just had surgery a week ago and I can tell you I remember nothing about going under. The furthest I get in my memory is them having me scoot over from the gurney to the operating table. The anesthesiologist put something in my IV to relax me, and I was pretty much out. As far as waking up, it's all a big haze. I can't actually remember waking up in the recovery room, only when I was being settled in my bed. I recall some back pain, but that was quickly knocked out by the pain meds I was given. I was never in pain the entire time. It was controlled completely. Good luck!
  16. Welcome, Jennie, and best of luck on your journey!

  24. Welcome to the forums! For those who only choose to tell a select few, of which I am one, it doesn't always equate to shame or embarrassment. It definitely didn't in my case. For me it was just the surety that I could never "untell" someone after I told them. And from there I no longer had control of who they might tell. I'm a very private person. My personal business is mine alone. I didn't make announcements or ask for outside opinions with other medical decisions I've made, so this was no different. I told my immediate family and four close friends, that's it, and I've had no regrets. Good luck!
  25. Welcome Raven, and congrats on making the decision to better your life. You will find tons of support here. Good luck on your journey!
