  1. Dragonflyblue (what a pretty name you chose). I wish you the best of luck in your journey. I am sure that your weight loss and the healthy eating habits you have adopted will be very helpful to you. You are right about the weight loss helping you already in the diagnosis, and what good news you received about finding the cancer early and having it be a treatable variety. These are all very positive things. Keep taking care of yourself, get yourself a good support system, and stay strong and involved. Also, many people find that visual imargery helps them. Maybe you are a strong, beautiful dragonfly soaring high out of the grasp of cancer, or maybe you are battling it to it's doom. Use whatever works for you. You CAN do it. Sending love and warm thoughts your way....
  2. I love shrimp. But, I relized last night that the band may have made it impossible for me to eat them. I've only had them twice since banding in November. Both times, I ended up getting a hellacious jam in my chest and then throwing up several times. The first time, I thought it was a fluke. Last night, after hurling into the bushes on my patio, I began to think it was related to the band. Maybe I eat them too fast and they react differently than other solids? I only ate three medium-size grilled shrimp - probably less than 2 ounces all together. I can eat that much tuna, steak, crab, or chicken without batting an eye. What is it about those tastly shrimp?!?!? I hate to give them up for ever. Anyone else have problems with shrimp?
  3. Sades, Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. I don't remember the radio series (I don't think it was available here at least not in all markets) but I do remember the book. I read it as a teenager when I was questioning everything. Excellent reminder that 95% of the battle can be figuring out what to ask. Did you read Tom Robbins' books in Australia (Jitterbug Perfume, Skinny Legs and All, Even Cowgirls get the Blues, etc....)? Gosh, now I have a hankering to read them again. You know, I sat at that same damn weight for a month. Then, I went on vacation, ate more than usual for five days, and then got back to my routine. It was like the extra food boosted my metabolism and lets a few pounds flop off. I'm going to try it again in a few weeks. It's pretty fun.
  4. Kimkins! Be careful. It's a scam. Here's the link. If you Google "kimkins diet scam" you'll find lots more about it. 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Official Website for Weight Loss Support - Kimkins: Anatomy of a Diet Scam
  5. Hi Frangi, I'm in the lovely capitol city of Helena, nestled in the Rocky Mountains 8 miles east of the Continental Divide (about halfway between Glacier Park and Yellowstone). It IS beautiful. Plus, it is a great place to live. We live in the historic part of town in an old Victorian built in 1886. I get to walk to work, to downtown, and to a great trail system. I feel very lucky. I always wanted to see the Virgin Islands. Maybe someday we should swap houses for a week? But first, I have to look good enough to wear a bathing suit in public. LOL. Thanks for all the inspiration. P.S. I don't want to scare you off, but I don't think there is a Stein Mart in Montana....
  6. Wow Frangi. You look great! You don't even look swollen. Think how totally fabulous you are going to look when the swelling is all gone. That must feel soooo much better. Congrats, and thanks for posting pics. I can't wait to get to my goal weight so I can get made over.!
  7. Hey Salsa. Good luck on tomorrow's half marathon and on next week's surgery. This will be Jabba the Hutt's last run, so be nice to him. Are you gonna miss him at all?

  10. I'm squinting at these posts (because I forgot my reading glasses) and I must say that the three-picture shot of the skin and fat removal caught me by surprise. Through my squinty haze, it looked like some sort of crazy cooking class demo. Glad you are safely out of surgery and in good spirits. I bet you'll look great!
  11. LOL Frangi. When I had my colonoscopy, I had to do a bowel cleanse, and I had to drink about 8 oz of some godawful magnesium something - thick, gooey, and wretched tasting. I tried to chug it, but my stomach hurled it right back up. Of course I was told I had HAD to drink it so I caught it in the glass, sucked it up with a turkey baster, and squirted it down my throat. I was very relieved to see that they now have a PILL on the market that does the same thing. You should ask for it if you have to cleanse again. Glad the recovery is going well. It is great fun to read about.

On the bright side, I spent a week on vacation in Richmond, VA eating at restaurants every night and day (yummy stuff too) and I didn't gain anything. So, that's a victory. I would REALLY like to hit the low 220s by August 18, because that will bring me back to my wedding weight after 18 years. I'm not even THINKING about Onederalnd, yet (all you skinny people).

  15. You look terrific!!!!!!!!! I can't believe the difference. Amazing.
  16. Salsa, I can't be;ieve it's time already. July seemed so far away. You must be beside yourself with excitement. Thanks for sharing the before pictures. I bet you are going to have a great result. You have such a tiny little body now with so much loose skin = but no excess fat. Heck - your legs and butt are very slim. Plus, as athletic as you have become, you are in great physical condition. I am sure you will be one of your surgeon's prize "before and afters". Best of luck on the half marathon. That's such a nice distance. Long enough to feel like you accomplished something very tangible, but short enough so that you do not beat the crap out of your body. Make sure you pay attention to how it feels and write it down after the race. You'll want to compare it to when you run your next one with your new, fabulous body.
  17. LOL. Kat, my DH is an engineer and he has the same "trouble" figuring out how to make the bed and operate the washer and the vacuum cleaner. ;o) Glad to hear everyone is doing so well!!!
  18. Best wishes Becky. Time for a little pampering. Let us know how it goes. I bet you will look FANTASTIC.
  19. Wow! I'm just lurking here because there are no new posts in the Nov 2007 room. That's really inspirational!!!! I hope you are going to post on the before and after thread. Great work!
  20. That's a minor error, Robin Bird. Someone on another thread called me FooFoo! That's not acceptable. ;o) Remember the kids song... "Little rabbit FooFoo, hopping through the forest, picking up the field mice, and bopping them on the head."
  21. Nina (who hasn't posted here in awhile), lives in England had her surgery done in France and posted quite a bit about her surgeon and the experience. She seemed quite happy with the results. If memory serves, it was sometime in January or February? You can look through the previous posts and find her, if you are interested.
  22. I'd go to a trainer, if I could find one that I liked. Most of them in our area seem to be pretty green. I thinks Biggest Loser inspired a bunch of people to be trainers. I'm AM getting pretty addicted to the eliptical trainer (doing about 300 cals a night now). And I LOVE weight lifting. So, I've got muscles popping up under the flubber, but I am still waiting for the scale to drop. In due time, I suppose. Great work Skinny Jill and Cindy.
  23. Good grief. That's fabulous. I am only about 40%. Way to go Robin Bird. What's your secret?
  24. Bandpal, We're worried about you man. You've been silent too long. How's your wife? Are you remembering to take care of yourself, too? We are thinking of you....
