  1. I woke up during surgery on my saggy upper eyelids! They put you in a twilight and I guess I wasn't deep enough. I said, you know, I can feel that and its hurting....they said okay, goodnight...and I was back out again. No trauma, I thought I dreamed it until I asked my dr. about it.

    Finally made it to onederland!

You will get there! I was at 203 on New Year's Eve. It took me 14 days to get that 4 pounds off and I was so anxiously waiting. I think I weighed myself 4 times a day! Something about being under 200 that feels so victorious! I know we shouldn't let those numbers rule us, but I guess its a hard habit to break. Seriously so very thankful for this sleeve of mine. I know with all my heart, that without the sleeve, I would never, ever have been able to get this weight off. Life is good and getting better every day! I wish you all well!
  3. Today is a great day for me. I made it to onderland and I pray to never see the 200's again. This is my first major goal and I am beyond thrilled and feeling thankful every day that I had the courage to do this surgery. Yay me! Next goal.....185....14 pounds from now. Good luck everyone. This is a great gift.

    Vitamin Schedule

Can someone please give me an idea of when you take what with what? I just can't seem to get it together with those Vitamins. Not used to taking pills at all and keep forgetting. I appreciate the help.

    Onederland at last!

I have been so excited to get to 199....still not today, but soon. Congratulations!!!! What an awesome feeling it must be!!!

    I give up

I'm very sorry. I meant request a medical exception. Especially if there are co-morbidities. A hiatal hernia may help with the exception.

    I give up

Ask your doctor to at least try to appeal this, stressing medical necessity. Do you have any co-morbidities that could help the appeal? High blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, etc? Appealing can't hurt.

    Premier Protein

I warm it up for my morning drink. If I can get that whole thing in, I'm halfway done for the day. I take another one to work and drink that one over ice. 60 grams of Protein, yay! Once those two are in I don't have to stress, I can pick on a piece of chicken or some other kind of meat, but don't feel forced to eat it. I absolutely cannot believe I just typed that! Who would have ever thought that eating a piece of chicken would be difficult!!!!

    My first goal met!

Feels so good, doesn't it? I was hoping to drop below 200 by New Years, but that was not to be....maybe next week. It is sooo cool though, putting on clothes and having them be baggy instead of stuffing myself into them and being uncomfortable all day. The hope that this surgery has given me cannot be measured. I really feel like I am on my way! Congratulations to you....its only the beginning! Enjoy the journey.

    Vitamin Schedule

Ahh, thank you! I am supposed to take 2 multi, 2 calcium, a d and a b12. I know you aren't supposed to take certain ones with certain ones.....but even after researching, I am confused! WTH I am a reasonably intelligent person but seem to be having a hard time with all of these schedules, add eating and drinking into the mix and I am ready to have a meltdown!

    Post surgery question

Your nerves are healing and numb. Just take it slow. Trust me, you don't want that "I'm gonna throw up" feeling, but you will get it and you may just throw up, which is absolutely awful. I am almost one month out and the other day I veered off my Protein path and have two bites of a brownie. Did it without even thinking about it. Just popped them in my mouth and swallowed like pre-surgery. Didn't wait a minute in between, just did it. Well, guess what....a few minutes later I was sick as a dog and ended up throwing up. I don't think I will ever look at a brownie with that longing feeling again! From now on, every bite that goes into my mouth I will have to remember to think first, because I never want to throw up like that again. Lesson learned. Think and chew, chew, chew! Good luck on your journey! It's actually pretty cool (aside from the puking).

I feel great ! Day one post op!

Just take it slow for a bit! Get outside and get a few minutes of fresh air, but take it slow. You just had major surgery. I'm so happy to hear you are doing great. Enjoy the new adventure. Remember to sip, walk, sip, walk!

Don't sweat the small stuff! You are gonna do great and in a few short weeks the pain will be forgotten and you life begins again. Good luck, Jamie. Hang on tight, you are in for a great ride!

    I made it!

I had the hernia repair too. It does get better, a few more days. Try sipping warm things, broth, tea, heat up your Protein drink. It went down a lot easier for me, seems to relax the spasms. You are on your way to wonderful future!

    Over the counter unflavored protein

I just bought Quest unflavored at The Vitamin Store. Tried it last night and it wasn't bad, I put it in Soup.

    Back brace

Just a little advice for those of us who had hernia repair. My back started hurting really badly. I think it is because I stand all night at work, so I was used to sucking in my stomach and using those muscles. Well, with the repair, I am not able to use those muscles as efficiently. I bought one of those ace back braces and wore it yesterday. What a big difference! It held my tummy in and supported my back so well. Just thought I'd put this out there for those that have this problem. I can't believe the difference it made for me.

    I made it!

    How are you today?
  20. This was so cool to see the changes that are about to take place! I am so looking forward to seeing the difference in the outside me. http://www.modelmydiet.com/

    One Week Post OP

Ask the dr to prescribe an antispasmotic. I took hyoscyamine and it was a lifesaver. Try drinking warm stuff (even heat up your Protein shake). Hope you feel better very soon.
  22. My surgery was 12/3 and I also had a hiatal hernia repair. I found that very warm went down the best. I even heated up my premier Protein shake. Try warm broth or decaf tea. Popsicles also helped, sugar free, of course. Water has a tension to it, add a few drops of mio, or crystal light, or desani drops. Try sugar free gatorade. As for the burping....very small sips. I can take a drink and it takes me 7 swallows to get that mouthful down. I am 15 days out and the tugging discomfort of the hernia repair is much easier now. It does get better, just give it time. Good luck, hope this helps a little. p.s. I forgot about the spasms.....the doctor ordered hyoscyamine 0.125mg for them to take every six hours as needed. See if you can get him to prescribe that for you. It helped me immensely!

    Complications?

How exciting for you! The only things you really need for the hospital are: robe, slippers, toothbrush & paste, hairbrush, carmex, phone & charger and maybe a tablet and magazine. You need to spend time walking and sipping, walking and sipping, repeat again! I don't even know if this is allowed (never asked) but my son brought me sugar free mints because my mouth was like the Sahara desert. They helped more than anything else. Good luck, you are on your way!
  24. Tomorrow will be two weeks and I was wondering what everyone's diet looked like for 2 weeks post op?

Day 14, what were you eating/drinking?

Thank you everyone! I have been on the liquids so far, with some sf pudding and sf applesauce & yogurt. I am so ready for a soft boiled egg! Hubby is bringing home some lobster bisque so I am looking forward to that. I think creamed soups will get me through nicely. I can only eat very small amounts. It takes me 1/2 hour to get down half of a premier Protein shake. Maybe I am just sick of looking at them! I appreciate all of our input, more than you know.
