  1. Soooo...my new birthday is rapidly approaching. 9:55am, Nov. 3, 2014 is when I will have my surgery. Having the gastric sleeve and a hiatal hernia fixed at the same time is starting to give me the shakes. I've been through major surgery before, I had my spleen removed a few years ago. I got through that pretty easily, but just the thought of having these two things are starting to make me a little uneasy. I trust God and know all will go well, but still.... Anyway, the question I have is, has anyone tried the New whey liquid Protein or the muscle milk powder. My NUT didn't know what muscle milk was and couldn't give me an answer on if it was okay to drink (even though I've been using it for about 6 mos now). I forgot to ask about the New Whey Liquid. What has worked for you during your pre-op and post-op if you've recently had your surgery?
  2. Had a very successful surgery. I did some dryheeving. I feel pretty good.

  3. Thanks everyone! I will keep you posted on how I'm doing. One scoop of muscle milk powder is something like 16g of protein and 2g of sugar. I did have a chance to check into it again and it is approved by the NUT. Tomorrow is the big day so there's a lot that I have to get done. I'll check back in a week or so.
  4. Hello! I'm scheduled for Monday, Nov. 3rd to have surgery. My doctor prescribed me some Trandermal-Scop Patches to keep me from being nauseated and vomiting after surgery. My insurance doesn't cover them. Are they really necessary? Is throwing up a normal part of what happens right after surgery? Is there anything else I can do?
  5. I'm pre-op for right now. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 3rd. The last time I spoke with my nationalist was about a month ago. In my paperwork, It says not to get my gummy Vitamins from the drug store, but I've been reading where people are having success with Centrum. Can I use Centrum? I'm so nervous about my decision. I've priced bariatric vitamins and they are so high...maybe I'm looking at it wrong. I really want to start getting things that I need. Will someone please be my buddy ie mentor. People around me have not been telling me anything other than I can do it...no direction. I don't have to loose weight before my surgery date, Dr. Baumon said for me to not gain any weight. I'm trying to figure out what I need to stock in the cabinet for pre-op.
  6. @redheadgurl Yes I am. Dr. Roc W. Bauman doing my surgery on Nov. 3rd.

    Shopping List Needed

I'm so glad you posted this question. My surgery is November 3rd and although I've seen a NUT, I still was wondering the same thing.
  8. I started the journey of getting approved for surgery in July. I've finished everything asked of me. Now, I've been waiting a week for my surgeon or whomever receive my psych evaluation from Dr. Roderick Lilly. I am ready to pull my hair out waiting for everything. I'm so ready to get this surgery done. And the not knowing when it will happen...ugh!!! How long does it take for my psych evaluation to be turned in? Am I just over anxious? Surgeon: Dr. Roc Bauman at Carolinas Weight Loss Center, Concord, NC Psy Eval: Dr. Roderick Lilly at Carolinas Healthcare System Psychiatric Associates, Concord, NC

    Hernia ?

Just as Sleevarilla, I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia pre-op. Mine was found after my ECG. The first doctor told me he wasn't sure if it was a hiatal hernia or if it was an ulcer. Another doctor, Dr. Roc Bauman said it was definitely a hiatal hernia and he would fix during gastric sleeve surgery.
  10. It's so exciting to read through this thread and see quite of few of us having surgery on the same day. That means we will have the same Birthday!!!! for the new life we're about to live!
  11. I'm scheduled to be sleeved on Nov. 3rd. I'm in North Carolina. I'll be having my surgery at CMC-Northeast! I'm super excited!

  15. I met Dr. Roc Bauman today for the first time. He's doing my surgery on Nov. 3rd. He is awesome. I really enjoyed talking to him and learned a lot from him. He's straight forward, but that is awesome! I can tell he cares a lot about his patients. I'm glad this change was made. I was originally seeing Dr. Ian Villanueva for my surgery, but he's no longer there. So, my case went to Dr. Bauman.
  16. @@VSGAnn2014 It feels soooo awesome!!!!
  17. I just got an email. I'VE BEEN APPROVED!!!!!!! Tentative date is 10/29/14.
  18. I checked my weight loss center account and seen where they sent my info to the insurance company yesterday. I talked to the insurance company, Humana, and was told that the nurse has 14 days to approve or deny. According to the list Humana sent me at the beginning of this, I have met their requirements. When I had my psy. eval, the doc said he didn't see any reason, psychological, that I would be denied. I had the correct understanding and mindset. Sooooo....we'll see.
  19. @rlsmommy1203 I ended up having to go back down to their office and redo an authorized release form. I hope you hear something soon!
  20. GREAT NEWS!!!!! I got a call this morning a little after 8am and was told that my Psy. Eval. was sent to Dr. Bauman's office yesterday. I feel so much better for now. Now, time to find out how long Humana Medicare takes to approve the surgery once Dr. Baumna's office submit my information.

  22. Hello! I've been dealing with being overweight for the last 13 or so years. The only time I was under 200lbs in the past 13 yrs is when I was sick and lost almost 120lbs. But that was 4 years ago. I have been on this Gastric Sleeve Surgery journey for about 2 months. I've completed all the things I was required by Humana PPO (Medicare). It wasn't as extensive as I thought it would be. Sooo, as of yesterday, I'm waiting for the results of my psy eval and then insurance approval, etc. I have no ideal how long this wait is going to be, but God knows I'm ready to get this stage over with. I want this surgery so bad. I've tried dieting and working out, phentermine, and nothing is working. I'm ready to get rid of the back pain due to the weight pressing. I'm looking forward to having energy, running, and doing more things with my family! My starting weight in this journey was 243 and I'm 236 now. I can only imagine where I will be after the surgery. I thank God I have a strong support system with my doctors, my husband, son, parents, and my brother Eric.
