Has your chronic back pain lessened with your weight loss?
Hi folks...I've had chronically recurring lower back pain for a little over 10 years. It's generally sciatic in nature, but has at times affected both sides, and at times left me barely able to get out of bed, walk, or clean or dress myself! Not fun! The 6 weeks I was away from work I had almost no pain, because I didn't do a damn thing. As soon as I went back to work (I'm a registered nurse in long-term care, full-time shift work, 8- and 12- hours shifts), my back pain came back. It always hurts to a degree. Can I look forward to this getting better anytime soon? Has anyone else with chronic back pain found relief after WLS? In the meantime, I am planning on asking my family doctor about getting an MRI or something, because I'm worried it's a disc problem...i have a lot of years to put in before retirement is on the horizon! Lol.

Hair today, gone tomorrow
Thanks finediva! I'm thinking I might even take a little more off the top.

Soooo gross!
Oh for sure. Don't know why I did that. Idiotic.

Soooo gross!
Too much! Approx. 1.5 x 4.5 - 5 inches. Yuck. It was more like a torte.

Soooo gross!
Smells don't bother me. But that cake was stupidly decadent. I can't believe I used to eat that stuff so much before. Bleargh!

Soooo gross!
Ugh. I ate some chocolate cake for my bro's bday tonight. Barf barf barf! I seriously felt so gross I was considering going to make myself throw it up! Still feeling pretty yucky. I'm sure the lack of water today is not helping...but ewww...what was I thinking?? Anyone else experiencing moments like this one? I'm 2 months post sleeve.

I wish I had known
My guy is relatively fit...he works hard and is naturally compact like his ancestors. Chinese ancestry...but I worry it may catch up to him some day! And I worry about diabetes because he sure goes to town on carbs...

I wish I had known
It's nuts how little food it takes to make me feel full! I used to be able to eat like a bear...now I take as long to eat my child sized anount as it takes my boyfriend to eat two hearty helpings.

September sleevers
I've had a couple stalls. They suck. I need to remeasure myself and see if the inches have changed.

OVER 300 lbs
I was having trouble...my doc started me on lactulose 30ml daily to get things moving. It took a while but it helped. Now I make sure I drink lots, and supplement with benefiber 1-2 times daily.

Piercings?
That one you might...it would be up to the anesthesiologist and nurses. But it should go back in when you wake up easily enough

CVS Pharmacy Vent
120/80 is really quite fine, but they're now considering it "high" normal and "pre-" hypertension. But that's not a reading any of my nursing colleagues or the doctors we work with would bat an eye at.

NSV I Can't Believe!
Everyone remarks on my face too...I referred back to a picture pre-op in May when I was already losing a little...now I see what everyone is talking about!

Vasovagal/irregular heart beat complications
The vagus is a large nerve running through your abdominal cavity. Many things can stimulate it, and it can dump your heart rate. This kind of surgery takes something away and changes the stimulus on this nerve. It may improve...I had one spell in my first 6 weeks post-op...I do get light headed sometimes...having said that, my pulse is typically fine...just the one spell.
-
What was your most recent NSV? (non-scale victory)
Well, in addition to a scale victory of kicking another nine pounds to the curb this week, I have lost somewhere in the neighborhood of three inches off my waist and hips, AND I bought pants at a store that doesn't cater to plus sizes!!!!

Does everyone lose a noticeable amount of hair?
I'm two months out and have been noticing a lot of falling hair...it didn't seem like it was getting thinner, but I heard the loss can last 6 months! I was not going to wait to go bald...my hair was quite long, and very tangly. So today I went short. Very short. Donated my foot long braid...haven't had my hair this short in well over 10 years!

Hair today, gone tomorrow
I've had a lot of falling hair in the 2 months post-op. It was getting scary to see so much come out. After having long hair since my twenties, I decided to go short in the hopes it would slow down the loss. I donated my braid. Here's a little before and after, and the hair I lost...

Fiber and 'Keeping Things Moving' (Toilet Talk)
Yeah struggling with irregularity myself...using benefiber, and saw my family doctor who suggested lactulose...things are starting to work! But sooooo gassy!

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)
My surgeon said 4 weeks...I was off for 6 (the extra 2 were my own decision). I'm a staff nurse. I'm back to work now...survived my first 8 hour shift, and my two 12 hour shifts (days). I start my 12 hour nights tonight...hoping they go well.

Syntrax Nectar = Awesome sauce!
Just got my shipment of Syntrax nectar...not something you can get easily in Canada! Tried it today. Delish! And cranked up my Protein intake! I also added Benefiber to it, since I need more of that. Now if I could just get Progresso Light Soups up here!

My Dog loves me!
Thanks...I'll give it another shot. If I can improve her leash manners then I might be able to manage her and my other dog on a walk together! ????

My Dog loves me!
Hey kimpossible...a little off-topic...but I see you have a Boxer. Mine is 4...super hyper and crazy. I know she needs wayyy more exercise, but her leash manners stink. I tried a halti and she freaked out. Any tips? I want to walk her, but she pulls so much she hurts herself and she's so darn strong!
