  1. Hey itsjessica. I was sleeved on October 8th and had lost 23 lbs on my first pre-op visit at week #2 (lost 8 of it pre-op). My doctor told me last week that weeks #3 and #4 are going to be slow. He warned me that I may only lose 3 or 4 pounds total during these next 2 weeks as my body rehydrates. I am also getting in about 75 grams of Protein a day and between 600-700 calories per day on soft foods. Stay positive. You are barely out of the gate, so give yourself a break. You are worth it!!!

  2. Hi everyone. I was sleeved on the 8th. I am down 23.5 lbs total (including 8 pre-op). On full liquids and getting shakes down with no problem. I have my first follow-up appt. this Thursday and hope to be cleared for soft foods and exercise at that time. I have been heating up Soup and straining out the rice, etc. and drinking the juice so I have something with good flavor at night. I have also been juicing blueberries, strawberries and raspberries to add to vanilla shakes (made with Protein powder) and it is delicious. I am down one pant size and I feel so much better about myself already. So glad I did this for me!!

  3. I saw my nutritionist today and told her all my complaints and she said is normal for phase one to go through my mess. Well I told her about the Protein Shake and she said that's the reason for my diarrea because I wasn't suppose to start that yet. She said after 14 days I can start Protein Shakes on phase 2. Phase 3 will be puree soft foods. She said the reason for my heartburns is because I need to go a little slower on my liquid intakes. It should be 4oz every hour. She said my body needs at least 64oz per day. Well I'm still learning and the office gave me a welcome package with food samples for phase 2 & 3. They said they sell bariatric foods at the clinic but I decline because they were so pricey. I was scheduled to see my doctor on the 29. I can't wait to see him to thank him again.

    Dulce,

Glad to hear you got it all figured out today. You must be feeling much better ????. Nice that they gave you free samples too!!! This stuff is not cheap. How crazy is it that there are so many different diet plans post-op? I started Protein shakes on day 3 after surgery and I am now 8 days out. The shakes go right down for me. My doc has me starting soft foods next week and I know that won't be so easy so I am a little nervous. Oh well.... I guess we have to take it one day at a time. Happy sipping......

  4. @Sistersuz. Hey girl, I'm doing well. Three months this Friday. I have not had any loss for three weeks, which befuddles me as I'm eating under 800 calories a day. I'm seeing my doctor on Monday so let's see what she says.

    Finediva,

Glad you are doing well. I am dreaming of being 3 months out!! Sounds like one of those crazy stalls ????. Hope it passes soon.

  5. Oh laaawwwwdddd, lol. I just came from the bathroom trying to throw up nothing. So far today I had some Jello and couldn't finish it and tried some decaff black tea, and beef broth and couldn't finish any of them. Is like I got no appetite at all. But everytime I try to sip something I feel heartburns. My doctor prescribed me Omeprazole 40 mg 1 tab a day for the heartburn. It works only temporary. Plus I take the percocet at night for the pain. I have slight stomach pain and with gases.

Soooooo sorry to hear that. My doc gave me a prescription for Pepcid and told me to take one in the morning and one at night after surgery and that has seemed to work for me. I also read on this forum about the gas-x strips so I bought them before surgery and they were a lifesaver too. The gas pains were the worst for me. You can get them at CVS or Walgreens. Hopefully, you are getting plenty of Water so you don't get dehydrated.

  6. Hi everyone. I was sleeved on October 8th and went home the next day. The surgery was not at all as bad as I had anticipated and I only took a non-narcotic pain med twice in the hospital. The gas was (is) uncomfortable but my tummy is getting softer each day and I am getting around very well. I am anxious for all of the swelling to go down though. I still feel pretty distended, but I had an abdominoplasty a few years ago and my surgeon had to pump me up with enough gas to get good visibility for this surgery.

I am getting in all of my liquids. I was on Clear Liquids for 2 days post op and am allowed to start Protein shakes, yogurt and puréed fruit today....yummy!!! I woke up at 5 am this morning craving something besides broth and crystal lite and made my first shake with puréed strawberries. It was absolutely delicious. I had no trouble getting it down in a million sips????. I have not weighed yet...am saving that for my first doctor's visit. I am 50 years old. I started at 239 lbs. 2 weeks before surgery, was 228 the morning of surgery and want to get down to 165. I am 5'9". I was in an anesthesia fog for 2 days but am pretty much back to normal now but still a bit tired and a little weak from no food. All in all, I think the hard part is behind me and I have set a new new life course to being healthy. Have had great loving support from my husband who is the most wonderful man in the world. Hope all of my fellow October sleevers are doing great too!!

  7. Hi Giana. I work just about 15 minutes from Dr. Perez's office and I know someone who recently had the VSG with him and had a good experience so I am ok with him being about 40 miles from home. I figure I will be back to work when most of my follow up visits will take place and I could just go to the support meetings right after work. Good luck with your surgery.

Hi Giana, I live in West Palm too and went to Dr. Perez's information session last week. He was great. I am self-pay so am hoping to have him do my sleeve in early October. His program is really structured. I met with Dr. Folwell at Good Samaritan and he seems very competent, but his office is a bit disorganized so I decided to go to Holy Cross. Good luck!!
