    Longest stall?

I am dreading this long stall at 5-6 months! How long did you have it? It's been a good 6 to 8 weeks for me. However it is starting to move south again !
  5. I continue to have a battle balancing calories while trying to make sure that I get at least 60 grams of protein. I may at times don't even get up there all with food from morning to night. I try to stay at 800 calories but it gets tricky with calories and carbs. So I brought shakes to start drinking them in the morning. Any suggestions? I am 4 1/2 months out.
  6. If I was a world traveler I definitely would bring shakes and bars to be safe. I would be nervous about foods in a foreign country. You are a brave gal!

  8. Hi ladies. I am getting frustrated! I had surgery on 12/2014 ,highest weight was 312 and now I am really stuck at 260. The scale will not move for 6 weeks. Any tips to get the scale to move!! Is it because I am 50 metabolism is slower? I see so many younger people in the forum losing way more than I am. I understand we shouldn't compare to others but crap I need to lose 35-40 lbs for knee surgery. I should do the sleeve challenge (If that is what it's called) I am open to ideas......
  9. I am sorry about your struggles. Maybe you can make an appt. with a psychologist to talk about food addiction. I say this cause you said you are always hungry? Are you drinking your fluids between meals? Have you tried My fitness pal app. to track your food? I use this and it' s been an eyeopener to see how many calories are in such foods. Did you know there is 70-80 calories in 1 slice of american cheese? Many foods can add up calories!!! I hope you find your way and get back on the wagon
  10. Hi, I remember my back and body hurting but I was thinking that it was when they put you the table you are knocked out and the other at you are not n the table and getting back to your room, you were handled while sleeping. So it's possible we were not comfortable but obviously we could tell them. It will feel better as time goes by. Call your doctor if it persists.

Can you MAKE me feel worse?

I work in a hospital and I certainly hope you write a letter to the department head and the president of the hospital. This is unprofessional and no one should make you uncomfortable while you are getting test done. Believe me, there are people who should not be working in the health care and I have seen this.

    Anyone from Massachusetts?

I had my first appt in June 2014 and had my surgery Dec. 2014. 6 months of the while process. Not sure if it was the insurance requirement or the hospital. The last appt. is when you see your surgeon and then a couple weeks to get your date. I am an employee of Umass and I will tell you it's one very busy hospital. Your day will come!

    Pizza?!?!

Pizza is ultimately a favorite of mine. Close to the 5 month mark as a sleever I have stayed away from pizza because of the carbs however I have made alternatives. One with cauliflower and one with baked cheese. They are not bad but of course as good as the real thing. I am surviving

Is my hair going to grow back?

I don't know if I could hold off coloring my hair....This would be bad for me. I wonder if there is a gentle coloring out there?
  16. I have to look into this Chike stuff you are talking about. Sounds good to me.
  17. That is interesting thought. I would think they want us to lead more of a normal lifestyle however it's certainly challenging to incorporate all protein we need in our diet. I have been doing this until recently I felt the pounds were not melting off around the 4th month. This is why I wanted to see if people were still on shakes. I started shakes on Monday and I finally lost 3 lbs. I will continue to do this for a month and see what the results are.
  18. I am going to BJS to try them. Everyone seems to like it.
  19. Hi, try the quinoa chips in cheddar and barbeque, they have 7-8 grams of protein (you may find this in the gluten free aisle). I dont do gluten free but this is low carb. I was sleeved Dec.30th. I can tolerate most foods. I am feeling good!! Good to see fellow Dec. Sleevers
  20. I had my shake this morning before going to the gym and it has 35 grams of protein in it. I feel better knowing that getting my protein will be less challenging. Now, it will be easier getting proteins from other sources.

    Fear of STRETCHING Sleeve!

Obviously, you are further along. My recommendations are similar to yours, 800 calories and 60-80 grams of protein. I do know one thing, everybody's body is made differently so who knows when I go to my 6 month check up they will tell me something different. I am glad this regimen is working well for you. Congratulations to your weight loss, 84 lbs. is amazing. I have lost 52 lbs and I am 4.5 months out.

    Fear of STRETCHING Sleeve!

If this the recommendations from your surgeon then that is good thing but it certainly not mine. I will stick with what the experts told me so.

    Fear of STRETCHING Sleeve!

That article is an opinion piece, not a study, and is written by one doctor, hosted on his website full of pop-up ads trying to sell me his books and supplements. Sorry if I have a hard time taking it as gospel. Even he says 40-70 grams a day and more for people who are aggressively exercising or pregnant women. He doesn't specifically mention bariatric patients, but it is a commonly accepted that WLS patients also fall under a category that has a higher protein requirement. He says these groups need 25% more protein than normal, so that would mean 50-88 grams. And this is coming from a guy who is clearly anti-protein! Okay Jamie, you can believe anything you like. I am only taking the approach that makes sense and that is a balanced diet. It works for me and I am happy with that. I saw an article a while back stating a woman who over did her protein intake had kidney problems but who knows if she was a diabetic? I wished I remembered where I saw it but it does not matter anyway, you have your own opinion with your scientific article. I will stick with my own realistic opinion. Carry on.....

    Fear of STRETCHING Sleeve!

You should do a little research on the matter, before offering your "expertise": http://www.precisionnutrition.com/high-protein-safe-for-kidneys And, btw, even most of the people who claim that protein is bad for the kidneys wouldn't consider 100 grams too much, depending on the person's weight. I in fact did my little research before posting... Take a look... http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/09/03/too-much-protein.aspx
