1 week post op and feeling blue
mallen1895 replied to tiffanyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Believe me almost Everyone feel this way in the beginning. I had my surgery May 12th. I cried constantly I felt terrible. I missed eating my favorite foods it was bad. But after awhile you get used to it and it get a lot better. You learn to eat differently. I'm 2 months out and I'm down 50 lbs. so I'm loving the sleeve now and love shopping for new clothes. I can eat pretty much what I want now just in much smaller portions. Keep your head up. It gets a lot better. -

Advice from outsiders before surgery
mallen1895 replied to chopsitter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You have to do what's right for you. Outside of my immediate family I told no one not even my job. Just told them I was taking two weeks vacation I had my surgery may 12. I have already lost 32 pounds and feel great. Everyone is saying how good I look. The surgery was the best thing for me. I'm going away for the 4th of July holiday and brought my first bathing suit in over 10 years. Good luck to you -
I was sleeve over a month ago. The soreness goes away after about a week. Use a pillow over your stomach that really helps

Living stone that was a great story. Today I am one month postop and it does get better everyday. Two weeks ago I cried everyday thinking why did i do this to myself. I no longer feel that way. Although I would love to have a cheeseburger lol. Maybe on 3 month out

Today was the day for me. I was an emotional roller coaster. I'm 9 days post-op. I'm dying to eat a regular meal . Then I decided I need to read a few encouraging words from people who are dealing with the same issues. This has really helped . -
Countdown to surgery begins!
mallen1895 replied to mclorrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to both of you. You have made the right decision. Two years ago I was thinking of WLS and decided I would try and lose weight on my own. Well a year later I had lost and regained weight plus more. At that point my doctor said this would be the best option for me. I started the journey last Sept. Got all my required test done by end of March including the 6 month supervised diet. My Doctor submitted everything to the insurance company and they approved me within a week. I had my surgery May 12th. The first few days after survey was not bad a little sore. But believe me it gets better everyday. I have my first follow up with my doctor today. So far I'm down 17 lbs this include the two week liquid diet that was required before surgery My only problem is I WISH I was not afraid to do it two years ago. Good luck -
Hello all. My name is Melissa I'm from Brooklyn Ny. I was sleeved on May12th. I'm 1 week post-op. I had my surgery at Mercy Hospital in Long Island by Dr. Holover. The surgery went well I got lucky did not have any gas pains. I'm in recovery mode now. Just trying to drink enough water it's tough. I would like to attend the next support group meeting.

May Sleevers...where are you?
mallen1895 replied to bvenegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All: My surgery was last Tuesday May 12th. So I'm on my 6 day post-op. I am feeling so much better. Stomach is healing nicely. My followup with my surgeon is Wednesday. I was in pain for 3 days then i started feeling better. I was lucky my doctor put me on soft/purée foods when I left the hospital because I had no problem drinking or keeping food down. So far I'm down 17 pounds since the surgery that also include the two week pre-op diet. My biggest problem is drinking enough Water. I never been a big water drinker before the surgery. Now he want me to drink at least 64oz everyday to keep hydrated. I'm trying its tough. I want to wish everyone luck who is having surgery this week. The first few days after surgery is rough but it does get better each day.
