  1. This was just post by MrsGloMartin in post op bariatric surgery. Focus on the positive. Stay strong. This is her post....it is titled 5 1/2 months post-op... "Wow! I am excited, elated, and obliviously happy about my decision to have weight loss surgery! When I look at photos of me before and after surgery my first instinct is to praise God for the doctors who did the surgery and the nurses, heck all of the employees working in that hospital who made my surgery uneventful and ensured my speedy recovery! Next I get overwhelmed with emotion that ranges from crying and then laughing because after 20 years of being obese and unhealthy I am now healthy and a few pounds away from my goal weight. I am grateful for the support and information I get from all of you here and I thank my god that even though we are millions of miles aprat I consider all of you my family. To anyone reading this who is feeling unsure or afraid my wish for you is that you will not give up because you will love the new you just as much as I love the new me!!! I am walking fiv emiles every day and I can mop my floors withour any back pain or being overcome with shortness of breath. I am off of my blood pressure meds as they were causing my blood pressure to drop too low, my HC1 test is now ata normal range as I can no longer tolerate anything sweet, no articifical sweetners for me I only use blue guava Syrup (10 calories per teaspoon) when I need to sweeten a drink or my hot Cereal in the morning. Life is good for me and my family now as I am more active with my grands and great grands now that I am healthier. I pray that everyone experiences the same results or even better ones as you journey on the road to a healthier, happier you. God Bless :) ".

Here is a picture of me on my birthday this past June. I hate this picture. I look huge. I look at it and wonder who this fat, unhealthy, miserable person is. I can't wait for my new healthy, thin, active life!!

kimodell69.... You will get there. You just keep that beautiful smile and glow you have... You are going to do great and be the healthy person you strive to be. The beauty is already there.

  3. Today is day 3 post op. Gas is still the most painful obstacle. I sleep a lot due to an allergy to narcotics; have to take Benadryl too. In hospital Popsicle's were all I wanted. I am drinking sips of Water non stop. SF pudding is my favorite thing to eat. Have been able to eat Jello, Protein Shake and peaches (baby food stage 1). But not able to eat much. Nor do I feel like it. Just wish the gas would go away. Worst part by far. Incisions are doing well. I did not even need a drain at hospital. They are bruised but healing.

  4. Hey guys, so surgery didn't go as planned. My doctor had an emergency and left me waiting for him up until 10pm. He arrived and rescheduled me for oct 13th. I was upset but took it that it wasn't meant to be yesterday. I am now home and I am just moping around. Everyone who had surgery yesterday and today, I hope you guys are doing good.

Bronxmerci.... I am so sorry. But good attitude that it wasn't meant to be. I do feel awful for you. I will be praying for you in the 13th. Again I am so sorry.

  5. Great, the "Oct 7th bunch" is beginning to roll home. Everyone in "October" is reporting gas pain, some pretty bad. Please share anything that has helped you, even as silly as it my seem. Standing on your head? (Which you could?)

    Suggestions so far X-gas strips

    warm pad / heating pad

    walking

Wishing you a speedy recovery and that the pain goes away very, very soon.

When I got home I took chewable gas x. This helped a lot. In the hospital they just give you warm blankets and held my hand. It helped to stretch out on the bed as much as I could. If I was in any sitting position or stomach bended it would cramp up and get stuck.

  6. Welcome BypassMan, you just stumbled into the most dedicated WLS support group on earth. And in my not so humble opinion the "October Surgery Date" folk are the cream of the crop, the best of the best, the cat's meow, you get the picture! You don'y have to take my word for it, ask any of us, lol.

You are going trough a lot right now, wow and I thought I was having issues. Stay strong my friend

    Beni.... You're awesome!!!!!

  7. I am home now. The gas pain has been the worst. It got caught under my diaphragm and then under my rib cage. So painful I just cried in agony. One thing that is weird though is that I can drink and drink Water. Doesn't hurt. I thought it would hurt to over do it with water. I mean I only sip, but strange. Not hungry at all.

  8. I don't know why but I am on pins and needles about all the gals in our group who had surgery already. I feel like the mother duck looking for her ducklings. I constantly check in looking for updates. It's kind of silly because I am not getting any work done.

    Hi Beni,

Had surgery yesterday. Everything went well. I have a bad reaction to pain meds so lots of Benadryl for me. Everything has been ok except for the gas. It pushed up under my diaphragm and I could not even breath. I was crying so bad. Gas still there but everything else going well. Just ate a Popsicle.

  9. Okay everyone,

OCT 7th is a mad rush. There are a ton of gladiators going through tomorrow. I apologize in advance if I forget someone. It's getting harder for my little brain to keep track.

    Best of luck to:

Thanks Beni. I go in at 7:30. Surgery at 9:30. I am in WA State. Super duper excited. Best wishes to all our Oct. 7th peeps today.

  10. Surgery was moved up from October 21 to the 7th for me! Who's ready? Me! I was anticipating a delay but got quite the surprise by my office. Crossing my fingers and praying for each of you as your dates arrive. Good luck all! I'll be checking in on everyone frequently
