  1. I signed up for my first Olympic Triathlon; the Kemah Triathlon on April of 2015. I've been wanting to do one for a long time but never had the guts to sign up for one. I'm super excited and VERY nervous especially for the open Water swim which I've already started training for. I'm also going to talk about my training on my blog: www.julissaschultz.com.

If any of ya'll out there have completed an OLY tri please message me. I would like to know what your nutrition was like during the race and would also like to hear about your experience.

    Thanks!

Just started reading your blog. Amazing! I got VSG surgery done in September 2014, and am down 69 lbs already. I'm gonna take on a tri in 2015...I'll be looking to your blog to guide me for sure. Keep it up! From "shit to fit"!!!

  2. I passed a month anniversary on 10/12. I'm down approximately 40 lbs..it's not easy getting in all the Protein. I'm on phase 3..I'm so over chicken and protein shakes...but the shakes are among the few things that go down well. I actually ran for the first time today, and it felt great being down 40 and not have to carry that weight on my legs! But I have a concern...anyone else have looming heartburn? My doc prescribed me prevacid..but I didn't have it this bad pre-op..anyone else have this issue?

  3. So in week 3, I didn't lose anything. The sunday going into week 4...7 lbs down! So anyone in week 3 flipping out...don't. Week 4 will move right along.

Having that said..I messed up today. I am in Protein phase and have eaten so much grilled chicken, I'm gonna be one soon! So I had a piece of jerk chicken...yes. spicy food. BAD IDEA! matter of fact..terrible idea! I feel so sick right now. It all came back up. I learned my lessson..."stay in your damn lane. Follow the diet plan". So if this describes you, or something you're thinking of doing...don't!

  4. I think if you have never worked out a day in your life, or you're on a TIGHT budget..it's a good option. But if you are athletic, current or former...you have no business in there. It's the kind of place folks go, so they can say "I work out". I'm not trying to be offensive, but it is what it is.

  5. Hi all..got sleeved on 09/12. Finally sleeping better and minor discomfort, only when I sleep as I fall asleep best on my side. I'm going back for my post-op appointment tomorrow, and hoping my doctor puts me on soft foods. I'm having a bit of a hard time on phase 2, as I'm growing tired, almost angry at just liquids still. (Been on them for 3 weeks, if you include pre-op) I'm walking around and happy at my weight loss so far, but I feel my body slowing down..I was losing 2 lbs a day steadily..and the last 2 days nothing. I don't think I'm consuming enough..hopefully the NUT or doctor can tell me if I am.

  6. Yeah I'm on a liquid pain reliever. I really only need it at night before going to bed. I leave the hospital tomorrow most likely. I literally had 3 tablespoons of the broth and I was finished. I noticed that if I sip it too fast or burp, it hurts. I had a bad reaction after surgery to the anesthesia...and threw up..nothing but stomach acid came up. It was the most vile and wretched feeling ever. I almost ripped the pan in half. It was horrible.

  7. I'm on one day out and started phase 1 liquids. So far chicken broth, crystal light and sips of Water. Not gonna lie..I'm pretty miserable, but I know I'll be better soon. The morphine they have been giving me for pain management has been making me nauseus as hell..so I had to seek an alternate. My stomach feels a lot of pressure. Feels like I got jumped by leprechauns and they concentrated on my tummy alone. Glad to have my wife at my side. She's been awesome through it all.

  8. My only struggle day 6 is the Protein drinks. Don't like any of them after surgery! Trying to experiment again

I found it hard to find protein drinks I actually liked...i don't like milkshakes or milky products..so it makes it tough to find one. I finally found the most "decent" one is the Isopure Plus. Easy to get down, and the aftertaste is manageable. Has 15g of protein. And no carbs. I got the alpine punch flavor.

  9. My weight holding me back in my career has to be the final straw for me. I've been a cop for 10 years, and I took a liking to all things tactical. So...SWAT is the next step! Well...it helps if you can shoot well, but if you get exhausted after running a block or 2 and trying to take a shot, but feeling like your eyes popping out of your head..doesn't help much. I got tired of hearing "oh man, you're such a good fit for us, but you need to trim down". So I tried that. I went to the gym...A LOT. I lost 20 lbs..then I slowly gained it back. The plateau effect if you will. Still couldn't be at the top of my game..like where I was as a young kid. I've been an athlete since I was 5. I'm 32. I kept having the mental block of "why am I not losing? It can't just be food!"

I talked to my wife. We went to a few info sessions at different hospitals. I almost felt like I didn't belong. I'm like "oh wait, I'm not 500 lbs. I can still try on my own". Wrong. Kept getting same results. Went to more info sessions. Finally, Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL..had a different approach. For some reason, their holistic approach..with the support groups and nutrition counseling..up to and after surgery resonated with me. Well...after numerous hurdles..we are here. Surgery day at the end of the week. Wish me luck. one day at a time is my mantra.
