With all the bickering about Christmas and the reason for the season...
nina874 replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in Rants & Raves
Are you for real?? They let you teach that pile of doo doo to kids??? Oh let me guess - did the pagans kill each other by tying people to a stake and piling a load of firewood round it then setting it alight? Oooh I know they made all these weird gizmos and called then names like 'the Iron maiden' 'the rack' 'the thumscrew' and then tried it out on each other just for funzies, does it ring any bells? Just for the record my daughter is a pagan/wiccan, and it is one of the few faiths that actually preaches tolerance for all other faiths, they kind of figure that as long as you live your life the right way then it doesnt matter what you chose to call yourself. A large proportion of the people burned for 'witchcraft' during they heydays of the Christian movement were in fact the healers in the villages, midwives in particular were burned with alarming regularity on the grounds that they gave pain relief to women in labour and apparently God felt that women should suffer to bring forth children, so off to the bonfire it was. If ,and it is a very big if, the pagans ever did practice human sacrifice ( and I am totally with Green on that one) they didnt do it on a wholescale slash and burn your way across the entire continent kind of way. -

I can't tell you how much I agree with that sentiment:clap2::clap2::clap2: -
I remember reading some of your posts about your students! I am sure that you wont miss all that hassle. How long before you know about the federal positions? Do your parents live close to your Uni, or can you study from home? Fingers crossed for you hon.

losingjusme goes for plastics
nina874 replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Oh bum I know that you really wanted that done, I was very lucky that I was so gobsmacked when I saw the high profile one that my surgeon did it straight off with a lowprofile. Does that mean that if you want to change it that you have to go back to the band surgeon and pay for an op? I really think that you will be so thrilled with the results when you get the TT, that you wont even notice! I know that there arent many people that say even when at goal that you can see their port. Fingers crossed that yours is stitched in a place that it wont be noticable. Nina x -
Eee gads you should have seen some of the pictures that Pascal had for when he lectures, to show how not to do it!! It was enough to make you gag. Some of the transformations on there are truly amazing though arent they, there is one lady in particular who is on the first page when you go into the tummy tuck albums who is such an inspiration, she is a gastric bypass lady and OMG you should see her now!!! I havent had my last minute panic yet, I am kind of waiting for it, I cant be this calm and just excited can I? I hope that I dont get it after the surgery, that would be a major bummer! LOL How are you doing LJM still fighting the good fight against the Cookies?
-
I dont know who is more shocked derrick, you or me :omg:
-
Howled laughing at that, and so so true. Green are you being a naughty grrrl?
-
2B I am so sorry that she hasnt told you, do you think that she might have assumed that you already know? I would like to think that she wouldnt leave you out on purpose, I have to confess that I am dreading all my boys leaving...

Angelnurse's Lower Body Lift
nina874 replied to angelnurse's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks for replying Angel. Hmmm its a toughy, he said that she would get better results with a LBL but that it wasnt bad enough for her to need one if you know what I mean. I dont think she will make her mind up until the pre-op. Her DH isnt keen on the LBL though and I think that may sway her. How are you sleeping now? Is it still sore? Are you drain free and footloose or still a bit ropey? Nina x -

Your dad must be so proud of you, you were already very successful and now you look amazing as well, I bet he is fit to bust! I think you should show us a bikini full body shot when the swelling has gone down I know that if I had your body I would be wearing a bikini to the supermarket!! Nina x -
Nurseamy's tummy tuck/Lipo/Mastopexy
nina874 replied to nurseamy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Amy you are going to look amazing! You look fab already you are just a little wee thing I have just noticed that you are having surgery 11 days after me and Neal, 7 days before losing, and 14 days before Karey!! There are loads of us going under the knife at the same time! It will be interesting to see how we all progress, I am already claiming the spot as class wimp! -
I noticed that too! In france it is still possible to smoke wherever you want! I have reason to believe that on the whole they arent too fond of the British either! I have to say that everyone that I met was lovely and made us really welcome I have just got off the phone from Geraldine (Mr Pascal's secretary) and have asked her if she could sort a fill for me while I am there as I have to travel 300 miles to see my lapband people and I thought that as I am there anyway I may as well. I am a bit confused at the moment, I can still eat waaay more than I should be able to, but bread and stringy meats still get stuck, I would have thought that the fact that they are getting stuck means that I have good restriction, but the volume that I can eat - and I follow all the rules no drinking, taking 20 minutes to eat a meal etc- before I feel full is still too much.Whats that all about then? Ahh the delights of the band, anyhow I will see what they say when I get there. Getting more and more excited now. Nina x

who supports right to choose
nina874 replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Do yo uknow what is a big difference over here, adoption is never discussed as an option, it is definately considered to be a thing that only strange people do. It is as if we can understand totally why someone would want to abort their baby, but if they want to give it away they must be a freak. It so sad. -
who supports right to choose
nina874 replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ok having thought about this I know there are people out there who really truely do everything that they can to avoid the situation, and I know that there are people who cant use an IUD. I couldnt tolerate any form of contraception (allergic to durex, psycho bitch on hormones and agony with the coil) good job I love kids eh! What I am trying to say is that for a lot of people who are turning up at clinics for the second time in a year, there must be another solution! I am still struggling with the fact that contraception isnt free in the USA! I guess I am too used to the NHS -
Oh and if you are really bothered about WMD you might want to pop over into Pakistan.
-
Have to say that I agree with you on the radicals thing, but it is hard to take your religion back when the whole world veiws it with suspicion, havent got a clue how they will do it. I dont think that we are doing such a great job spread the love about the west at the moment either though.

Oh so because we only humiliate them, shock them, waterboard them and train dogs to bite off their genitals we arent as bad? You get a grip, either you take a stand against those acts or you dont, screaming that they do worse doesnt mean that what we are doing is right. As for the noone has died, says who??? Look at the pictures and you will see someone laughing over a body in an ice bag, If you look on the UN site you will see that at the moment the allies kill accuracy is running at 30 civilians for every insurgent, and dont forget that these people are raised in an atmosphere where violence is part of life for them from the moment they are born. What is our excuse? For the record I have friends that are serving over there as well, and all of them are sickened by what is going on, in the main because they realise that actually they were lied to from the start. Remind me again where are the WMD??

I was getting dressed this morning and thinking about it, and I was thinking about the last time I was in Lyon and I went shopping for clothes and we couldnt find a shop that had any that would fit me, I am a UK 16 which I think is a USA 12, the biggest clothes that they had were a uk 12/14 (US 8/10) I swear I didnt see one overweight person, I think they may have them all in a camp...... One day I will be able to shop in those shops. For now I would be so happy if I could just look good in a pair of jeans, I never realised how much I would miss being able to wear them! It is a week today that I fly out for my pre-op and I cant wait! I will try to get hold of the before piccies that he has taken.

losingjusme goes for plastics
nina874 replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am going to try to take my lap top with me so that at least when I get to the hotel room I can post. I will be out there for nearly 3 weeks, Dr Pascal likes you to saty for at least 2 weeks and I want to be sure that I am well on the way to recovery before I leave. It would be a bit tricky to get home and then have a complication. -

losingjusme goes for plastics
nina874 replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
LJM - Do you find that evenings are the worst time for snakaroos? I can be a perfect angel all day but then at night...... Karey - I know that I should have lost more before the surgery, I am hoping that a week on morphine will kill the appetite, and added onto the 7 litres of fat and the skin maybe I will come out of it nearer to goal! I know it is cheating but what can I say...... I am weak So it is me on the 11th of Feb, LJM on the 29th and Karey on the 5th of March!! Woooo Hoooo!!! Nina x -
losingjusme goes for plastics
nina874 replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Can I borrow some of your determination just for a bit pleeease I hate the head hunger thing, it has always been my biggest problem, its like an evil gremlin on my shoulder. I have to break the food=pleasure thing. -
Hi LJM!! I am so pleased that there are three of us going through this together I know how lucky I am going to France for my surgery, I really liked Lyon while I was there, but I felt like such a hick, the people are soooo chic, and they make iit look effortless! The town itself is beautiful and split in 2 halves over the river so you cross on beautiful Iron suspension bridges, more a place for romance than plastics really! My surgeon doesnt use drains because he has developed a technique that doesnt involve cutting through the lymphatic system, apparantly a combination of that and the fact that he uses a quilting tecnique to re-attach the skin that has been loosened to the fascia means that there are no gaps for Fluid to gather in, or so he told me, he drew a lot of pictures and it all made perfect sense at the time! Wow I forgot it was a leap year! I bet you look so fantastic after this one that DH will go along with anything you say afterwards! Nina x

You didnt go on too long at all!! It is such a complex thing once you start thinking about it. I also have a large family 18,17,13,9,7 and 5 and sometimes I feel like the real me is in here somewhere but she kind of got submerged along the way. Which to be fair wasnt a bad thing, I was a hell raiser when I was young and I am glad for the patience and love of life that the kids have taught me. I understand what you say about the control issue, the way that I have rationalised it to myself is that out of all the surgeons in the world I chose mine, and I chose him because I have absolute faith in his work.In that sense I have some control over the outcome as I have seen dozens of examples of his work and I liked what I saw. I chose to have this surgery, it will be soley for my benefit and it will (hopefully) mean that I will have regained control of my shape, in fact if I am honest it will mean that I can have the kind of body I have always yearned for! On the 'not too late to look good', again I am totally with you I think that we live in an era where age, to a degree, is irrelevant, you are very much judged on how good you look irrespective of age.I too am sick of seeing saggy flesh and lumps and bumps that have no business being where they are!! The way that I am looking at it is it will ultimately benefit all my family, if you look good then you feel good and that will impact on every area of your life. My dad is not too happy about it, he doesnt agree with the risks involved and feels that I am being irresponsible, when in his words I look 'fine' for someone who has had 6 kids. My hubby is fully behind me, he knows how much it hacks me off, and while he has repeatedly told me how gorgeous he thinks I am, he understands why I want to do it. What does your DH think? Nina x
