Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I understand completely about being private only a few people know about my surgery, most of my family doesn't know and that's how I prefer to have it. I went back to school 3 days post op. It's hard but do-able. Best of luck on your recovery Sent from my SM-N915P using Tapatalk Only my husband knows so I'm with you on keeping it quiet. And I had surgery on October 19th and I'm needing to take naps still. I get very tired. It's great you're able to return to school 3 days post-op. I hope you're finding time to rest too. If these posts have taught me anything about this process, it's that recovery is unique to each person. I suppose the best we all can do is learn to listen to our bodies. I know I never used to, which is part of the reason I needed bypass in the first place. I'm so excited for this journey now though. I'm amazed at how much happier I feel already!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I'm amazed by people returning to work so quickly! I'm Canadian and we get 4-6 weeks off after this surgery and my surgeon recommended taking the 6 weeks! And some of you are returning 13 days after surgery?! I think I would be panicking were that the case for me. It seems so soon! I'm happy to hear that everyone is managing okay though. It can't be easy. None of my co-workers know about the type of surgery I'm having so I'm hoping to return eating puréed and introducing solids at the very least. I told everyone I started a diet in September so any weight loss wouldn't necessarily be attributed to my time off and the surgery. I respect those who share but for me this is a very private journey. I hope I'm able to keep it that way.

Great to hear about the weight loss! And thanks for the protein suggestion. I'm really struggling so I'm going to see if I can order than Isopure zero carb drink online.

    October List of Surgery's

Had Surgery on the 19th and really feeling good. This afternoon I'm taking my walk outside! Gas pain is subsiding but I still get tired very easily. I read all of your posts- we have such a great group!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I didn't really pass the gas until I got home and I walked A LOT. Once relief comes though, it's a sweet sweet relief. It'll happen. It's horrible until it does. Be strong!

I agree with the saline nasal spray! I'm still blowing my bloody nose. It's nice to be home though isn't it? I'm finding it impossible to get those protein shakes in. I had 2/3 of one yesterday. I won't panic though because as you said it will take us time.
  7. A few days post op and I just wanted to let you know that your pics are inspiring and incredibly motivating. Thanks to those sharing their journey!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I completely get where you're coming from. If I take a pill, it feels like it's caught in my throat for hours and then it makes my stomach upset with nausea. Everyone is different but I'm finding once the gas begins to clear, the pain meds aren't that necessary. I don't know if this is what others are experiencing but if so, there is light at the end of the tunnel for you! Pain meds (pain) is very short-lived. Best of luck! I hope you feel better soon. Xo

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

First day home and there's just no way I'm getting in 60-80 grams of protein. I'm struggling with the fluid as is. I'm sure this is normal. I keep walking but no relief as of yet. My stomach is huge and stretched! Ugh. Lol @ puréed pancake!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

Going home today! Finally passed some gas this am and I just wish more would come out. The surgery doesn't seem bad really- it's the gas! I'm drinking ok though. Not really looking forward to the 1 1/2 hour drive home but I'm sooooo looking forward to home. Congrats to everyone and happy healing! Sip sip sip!

All I wanna do is pass some gas! How's that for a conversation killer? It's for the best I'm alone. I don't think I'm great company right now. Lol Seriously though, I'd give up my first born to fart.

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I was given a shot for the nausea, not a patch. The staff at Toronto Western have been great. I'm a bit lonely because I'm not telling friends and family- other than my spouse- and he's at home taking care of the kids. I am looking forward to going home but I'm also a little worried about how to keep my 3 and 4 year old away from my very sore belly. Lol I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well. Ok back to walking the halls!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

Hello October family! I had surgery yesterday and it's been manageable. I threw up blood when I first woke but I haven't been sick since. I've walked the halls 3x but get tired and nauseated quickly. It's really not so bad. I'm sipping watered-down apple juice every 15 minutes and taking deep breaths on the hour. Thankfully my request for a private room went through so I feel comfortable alone in my room. Some of the smells in the hallway make me feel gross when I walk, but I suppose that's to be expected. Lol Anyway, so far so good. ????

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

Everyone looks great with the weight loss, of course, but what makes me so excited for my surgery is seeing how the after photos Celebrate a new-found confidence! It's the jewelry, the difference in styles of clothing, the hair colour changes and makeup- it's the big authentic smiles that make me know I'm making the right choice with this surgery. This thread has seen me through the last year pre-op. My surgery is Monday. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone. Your photos have inspired me greatly!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

Hi October family! I'm up October 19th. I've been feeling so good and confident throughout the 3 week liquid diet, but then today I got this knot in my stomach and this fear that something bad might happen during surgery. Ron's wife's post scares me. I have a 2 and 4 year old and I just need to be there for them. I keep telling myself it will be ok. It will be okay. It will be okay. It will be okay. Kinda like that. Lol The posts where people have had successful surgeries and are feeling good- you should know how much your words calm me and make me feel better. I hope Ron is okay. Anyway, I'm glad we have this place to share our journeys. Xo

Hello October friends! I'm week one down of the three week Optifast 900 shake pre-op diet. I'm actually quite amazed with myself and how easy it has been. Don't get me wrong- I'm hungry! But it's manageable. I'm glad to hear that so many of you are doing well. I don't always reply but please know that I am reading all of your posts and sharing this journey with you.

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

First day of the Optifast 900 shakes! I'm hungry but so focused and ready. Surgery October 19th. I was surprised I have 3 weeks of shakes but I think it's because I carry a lot of my weight around the middle. Excited to have other October people to bond with! We're on our way now!

    Food funerals

I'm having surgery the same day! I've also had a few 'food funerals' and I think we're okay. There's something free'ing about eating what you want guilt-free and enjoying it for what it is. I've also been noting how I feel after I eat unhealthy treats and it makes me look forward to the changes I'm going to be making. We will remember the wonderful flavours and the enjoyment of the food we let go, but we will also remember how full and heavy and sometimes just awful those food choices made us feel. We're saying goodbye- thus the 'funeral' part. I wouldn't worry. I think it's a normal and healthy part of the process. And good luck with your surgery!
  22. What a great post! Thanks for sharing. You are in inspiration.
