  1. Aren't you fairly early out after surgery? fruit has too many carbs and sugars anyway. I'm 6 months out and have only had a banana and some berries. No apples or oranges yet. Like I said, too much sugar for me.

I'm 4 months out. Fruit has been on my NUT plan after 3 months.

  2. fiber, all those fruits are very high in fiber and fiber tens to expand once in the stomach, they can definitely lead to discomfort. for me, i can eat apple slices with no skins, ( skins upset my stomach, but they always did) and i buy the little kid packs of peeled sliced apples, that's enough of them to fill me totally and its like 4 or 5 slices. so i feel where you're coming from.

Yeah I buy the cuties the tiny oranges or tangerines whatever it is and I thought they'd be perfectly sized but I can't do it anymore. I'm not a fan of apple slices I'd rather eat an apples but like I said I've been noticing more things to add to my can't have list which sucks because I love fruit because it fulfills my sweet tooth.

  3. Maybe it's me but I'm having issues with fruits. Oranges I can't eat or my stomach kills me! I literally just ate an apple and bam I went straight to the bathroom. Bananas fill me up for a long time but leave me feeling uncomfortable also. Grapes taste weird to me now and Pre op they were my all time go to fruit.

    Anyone else?!

  4. I just want to know how you're doing 4 months out!

    Hw?cw?gw?

What do you do now that you couldn't before?

    NSV?

Have you set any dates to reach goals?

Do you have any events your looking forward to?

How are you doing on your new lifestyle("diets")

But more importantly how do you feel?

Just want to know how your doing=)

4 months out I feel great. I'm struggling through some hardcore Hair loss but my hair seems to be up 24/7 now so I try to ignore it.

    HW259 CW201 GW1 160 GW2 140

I now can cross my legs! Lol

My NSV is I fit in a size 14 jeans. Pre op the only jeans I had were a size 18 and those were getting tight so I lived in leggings

I was to try to be by goal 1 by june.

Because I decided to become a zumba instructor and my certification is June 5 (3 days after my birthday!!!)

My diet is a constint struggle. I work at a bakery which has caused me to rethink my career choice and focuse on myself. But it's hard now.

I feel great. It's crazy to think I use to carry so much excess weight before no wonder I was miserable.

  5. I learned that what I see in the mirror does not resemble reality. When I weighed 250+ pounds, I didn't think I looked that fat. Now, I can't see the weight loss and keep thinking that I'll look better in 10 more pounds, 10 more pounds, 10 more pounds.

I've also realized that I have some disordered eating habits and it seems like the surgery shined a big spotlight on these issues. It's amazing that I never saw these issues before surgery. I'm working on them but it's a process.

It's hard for me to believe I thought I was fine at 260lbs. I would trick myself to accept that I was a big girl and that I just needed to love myself. That only worked for about an hour. I was so unhappy now although I lost almost 60lbs I feel happier but my mind still plays tricks on me. I also look back at pictures and just sit in shock! I was watching a family friend who is really heavy eat the other day and just thought wow that looks really ugly(over eating) I hope nobody thinks I'm fat shaming I'm just saying when it's you, you never think of it looking bad but when you see it your just shocked.

  6. !) the mind is a powerful organ BUT CAN be retrained.

    2) I was a sugar addict that my brain wanted more an more until I decided to put a stop to it. I ate for any emotion

    3) my first month of PO was brutal. My brain was insistant on me giving in for the dependancy of "sugar" it was my drug

    4) the withdrawls were bad. It was very very hard but I was determined I wasnt going to allow myself to be a slave to food..now I eat to live an not live to eat. had to replace one addiction for another.

    5) I am NOT perfect. I had to realize I would have the slip up days but I have to love myself an forgive myself an get back on the wagon. 35 yrs of yoyo dieting an emotional eating is hard to overcome. I had to make up my mind an determination to say NO.

I don't know if this is what you had in mind but there will be struggles. therapy helped me termendously to put things in perspective over the yrs (Im not saying everyone needs therapy plz no one take this the wrong way by no means) it was what helped ME an I am grateful for that. I agree with @@jenn1 it will be alot of work after goal is met. a life time!

I was also a sugar addict. I'm honestly still battling it everyday.

I also feel like sugar was my drug. food in general but my sweet tooth was the main reason I think I was getting bigger.

I'm thinking about therapy but (maybe I'm in denial) I don't think I'm struggling too bad. And the brain just needs to be retrained.

  7. As I loose weight I've learned that it's not as easy as I thought it'd be. I knew it'd be hard but not the way I thought. I just thought eating right would be a challenge but I've learned that the mind is an awful thing. I know I'm loosing but my mind is playing tricks on me.

So I want to know what has loosing taught you?

  8. Hey,

Did this go on it's own for you?

I am 4 weeks out and now feeling exactly the same as you (I'm also on) but I feel like I did before I lost any weight

If I recall it did go away. I wasn't constipated. I guess I was just bloated because now I just feel great again (I'm 4 months post op now)

  9. I eat 6 times a day and that really helps prevent me from ever feeling hungry. I have a Protein bar for breakfast, a cheese stick for a morning snack, 2-4 oz. of meat for lunch, greek yogurt for an afternoon snack (with some granola mixed in on workout days), 2-4 oz. of meat for dinner, and a protein bar as a late snack.

Some days I do the same except I can't do yogurt it kills my sleeve. I try not to eat like this because I feel like it's not the right thing to do but I guess starving isn't one either.

  10. I also find that the shakes don't keep me that full. Greek Yogurt is another. I only have them on occasion as I find I am hungry an hour later. And then I am having something like tea to keep my mind off of it. I try to eat every three hours. I do better when I stick to a schedule.

    Good luck-

    LA

Yeah I think I can easily fill 12oz in my belly of Protein shakes which sometimes I could do more. And then I'd be hungry. I feel like I snack to much. I mean nothing bad but I don't think I should be eating as much. It sucks because everyone's different and one way isn't the right way.

  11. I'm six months post-op and there is still NO WAY I could eat that much food in one sitting. I can only do 2-4 oz. of meat at a time. No room for sides at all. If I tried to work in veggies or starches, it would be at the expense of Protein and then I wouldn't be able to get my 100 grams of protein in.

Me too. I'm not saying I'm eating 2 oz of each I take a bite here of everything. I don't stick to one. My NUT wants me to have variety but from what everyone's saying I think I need to cut off the starch and carbs so once this round of prep is over the next round no starch just meat and veggies.

  12. It seems like you are having to supplement a lot to get your Protein in. You should try to get more of your Protein through real food and cut out the carbs. You mentioned bread, potato, corn, and quinoa all in one day! Not to mention whatever carbs might be in your protein shake and Quest bar.

I am no carb nazi by any stretch. I don't count carbs at all. I just find that by filling up on protein, I don't have much room for carbs. I do get carbs from Quest bars and from sauces and/or breading with my meats, but I never eat stand-alone carbs.

Take that for what it's worth, though. I am a very slow loser, so maybe "my way" isn't the "best way".

Yeah its just confusing with what is the acceptable balanced plate for bariatric people and non. I'm just getting overwhelmed with what is better and what's not. I'm starting to think just eating a whole steak for dinner with no sides. So hard!

  13. @@Aribay1

Wow! You are a busy lady.

It's frustrating. But it's all learning as you go. You are weight training so expect some weight fluctuations.

Some things to try: I'm no expert just another sleever:)

Try limiting you're carbohydrates. (breads rice potato) Carbs trigger hunger. Also slow down weight loss. My dietician instructs to add carbs once you have lost 75% of you're weight.

try vegetables with you're Protein. Fiber will help fill you up and low calorie. I snack on veggies and pizza sauce when I cook. That seems to be when I get the munchies.

Plan and pack good Protein choices and Snacks. They will hopefully keep you satisfied longer than a shake (not that shakes are bad)For some the liquid just does not seem to fill you up.

Satisfy cravings. If its salty or sweet have healthy bariatric Snacks to get the craving out of the way.

Probably things you have already herd. Hunger is different for all of us. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. It might just be finding what works to feel satisfied.

Thanks for taking the time to answer!

carbs are my weakness. I just never know what to eat in the morning that doesn't involve bread. And I was always taught starch veggie protein so that's why I chose the potato. It's so hard to get out of old habbits! I just need to prep better. I should stress I work at a bakery so I'm not always on my best behavior which sucks.

  14. I'm 4 months post op (almost) and I'm down probably 52lbs .

Lately I'm just always hungry I don't get why here's a typical day

    Work7am

In the am i do an egg with ham and cheese on a slice of toast. I probably eat half of it.

Throughout work I drink at least 30oz of Water with is mixed with my Protein so I kill two birds with one stone.

    I eat lunch around 12

Today I made a quinoa bowl with Beans corn and steak also some salsa.

I then eat a Quest bar around 1

    Still drinking water

Today I ate dinner at 5

    Baked potato asparagus and salmon

I did Zumba from 7-8 straight after I drank my Protein shake about 12oz

Now 10pm I'm hungry I tried to just drunk the hunger but my stomach was telling me no.

So now I'm eating what I had for lunch (i meal prep)

Am i hungry because I start my day early and sleep late or am I doing something wrong

    Help!

Also I went from 201 2 weeks ago to now 207. I don't look like I gained weight (so I've been told) so I assume it's muscle because I weight train a lot. So I'm getting discouraged!

  15. I know the sleeve surgery for many was a last resort because none of the other diets worked. Now I did weight watchers 4 years ago and I did good for 2 weeks and basically was over it. I follow a lot of weight loss surgery (mainly gastric sleeve) instagram pages and I know one person does weight watchers.

Have any of you done/are doing weight watchers post op? Is it working well? Just curious=)

  16. My dr said the symptoms i had were definetly esophageal spasms but she also thinks I have a second issue with my gallbladder. I was given double the dose of prescription strength omeprezole, carafate, and ranitidine to take daily. And nitro glycerin for the bad spasms. So far it's not working but I'm told to give it 2 months.

Surgeon was useless, so at least I know he doesn't think the symptoms are a leak or anything sleeve related.

Please keep us updated on your progress. I'd love to know what other drs do about it.

Oh no I hope you feel beter! After this I never had these symptoms again so maybe it was high sodium. Not sure tho but can't complain now

  17. Are you diabetic or prediabetic? A dark line on your neck are an indicator. It's called Acanthosis nigricans. I used to get it when my sugars were elevated and it would clear up after awhile of being normal. There are other causes too including hereditary. Just a tidbit for you :)

Diabetes run high on both sides of my family but I was only close to Pre diabetic pre op but I have noticed it lightening.
