Can I ever have coffee again?

I probably started drinking regular coffee at about 4 weeks post op. I use sugar free creamer and splenda. My nutritionist did not seem concerned. I'll limit my coffee to about 1 to 1.5 cups a day. If my stomach starts feeling sour, I'm done with coffee for the day.

Wk 4 - only 3 pds down. What happened?

Totally normal. It will pick back up. I'm only about 2.5 months post op and I went through a period of about 3 weeks when I didn't lose any weight. It was very odd and frustrating. But I'm back on track now!

How are the Post op people doing?

Oh yeah. I'm 6 weeks post op and had complete buyers remorse. I hated myself. I'm better now. Hah.
  4. Am I crossing my legs comfortably? What? I am wearing yoga pants though...

Doesn't matter, GSDMama! You're doing it!!! Congrats!

  5. I'm 1 month post op laparoscopic gastric bypass, and I am miserable. I am struggling. 85% of what I eat/attempt to eat gets vomited back up. Everything I attempt to eat is allowed on my soft food diet or pureed. So far I haven't thrown up from yogurt or my Premier Protein drinks. My nutritionist says I'm very calorie deficient. I'm not getting in enough Water or protein. My nutritionist says that since I'm a tall girl, she wants me getting in at least 72 g protein, and I can get nowhere near that. I used to be able to drink the full 11 oz bottle of premier Protein shake post op, now I can manage to drink a half of one. I constantly don't feel good, get nauseas a lot. Oh and on top of this all, I have issues with falling asleep at night because I can't stay still. Is it possible I have a stricture? I'm not scheduled to see my surgeon until June 17th. Thoughts?....

Struggling, 1 Month Post Op Gastric Bypass

I spoke with my surgeons office. They are not concerned, they think I'm either trying to eat too much and/or too fast. I'm so frustrated and I want to cry.

    People I Work Closely With

Today I'm going to be telling the surgeon and physician assistant I work very closely with that I will be off for a month. My mind and stomach are churning right now trying to figure out how I'm going to explain it. They depend on me. I've thought about telling them that I'm having a small bowel resection. I'm just wondering if thats the right explanation I want to go with. I don't want them to think I'm having weight loss surgery. I don't want to be looked down upon and look like a lazy fat girl.

Probably not the best question to ask, but here I go...

One of my meals was Taco Bell, the other a large amount of Chinese food! Can't wait until I can eat some healthy version of Chinese food!
  9. I'm about 2.5 weeks post op gastric bypass. Pretty much every night, after I've been laying down for like 5 minutes, I have to get up and take a Zofran due to the nauseous feeling coming over me. The Zofran helps tremendously but I don't want to have to take it forever if I can avoid it. I had a Protein shake several hours before bedtime, those are the easiest on my stomach. Has anyone else had this problem? Did it go away eventually?

Post op sharp pulling pain 1 week out

I had this pain especially when turning in bed and getting up from seated position. My pain only lasted 2 weeks, I'm completely pain free now.

    Scratch your incision and stitches

It should be okay. Signs of infection to watch for: Fever, chills, increased pain, increased redness, foul smelling drainage. A small dab of blood from accidentally scratching your incision is okay. If you are still concerned, just contact your surgeon's office. No harm in that at all.

    How many nights in hospital?

I stayed 2 nights. My surgery was afternoon on a Monday. That night when I woke up I was pretty out of it, didn't give a damn that I had a catheter in even though I had never had one of those. I had my pain pump and slept. Tuesday I concentrated on sipping Water and sleeping. Wednesday I went home after noon. I'm glad that I had those 2 nights of supervision and help from nurses and their staff. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    In My Hospital Bag

Leave a pillow in the car to have for the ride home to hold against your belly!
  17. This was not a hard decision for me. I chose the gastric bypass because I needed to have the ability to lose the most weight, as I started at at least 150 pounds overweight. My surgeon and I never even discussed anything else, though he did ask me if I wanted to.
