OK....this may sound like a real "big gul" but my preop diet starts Friday....so does that mean to live life (eat) 2 the fullest?!?!?! ...IJS lol

Started my liquid diet today. It's ok so far. I know now that I can't have chicken broth for Breakfast. Not enough substance. I'll stick to my shakes early in the morning.

My preop is 2 Protein Shakes a day 1 meal of 4oz meat, 1cup veggies, 1cup of fruit w/out skin, n no more than 2 Snacks ( sf jello/popsicle) a day

Hello my Fellow Afro American Sleevers!!

I sleep, eat, and drink having this sleeve done!!!! Omg!! Well I've gone thru all the necc steps and have approval, my Surgery date is 10/10 and I start my 2wk pre op 09/26/14...im excited and freaking out at the same time, but all in all im ready for this change. My current fear is skin sagging and butt deflating. I have a large body frame so me being my current weight im still in a size 18 so I just hope and pray that ill just deflate the excess and keep my curvy figure LOL!!

I should b reading Nutrition Labels 4 Dummies. .lol... I read n it's 30g per scoop, silly me...Now I just hope the taste is tolerable. ..I also purchased Premiere shakes which I was told are good

Ok now I'm thinking I should take it back Bcuz it has

60g Protein per scoop

2.5g fat

7g carbs

I don't wanna over do it

Has anyone used this for pre n post op diet have any suggestions?

Most everyone has to have a EGD done when having the sleeve. I had mine done on 08/06/14 and it was very very simple. You go, they give you an IV, roll you back to a room where you see this big screen like TV, the anesthesiologist then says they are about to give you meds and it may burn a lil...30secs after saying that I was out like a light and was awaken by the nurse about 15mins later in recovery...lol you wont remember or feel a thing. Its for them to see if you have any pre existing problems like H. Pylori, hiatal hernia, etc...I ended up having gastritis but that wont hinder surgery.

Im as well nervous and excited and the feeling of nothing else matters but surgery at this point besides my 10yr old lol...My surgery is 10/10/14(which 10 is my favorite # ) My 2wk diet begins 09/28/14 ...Im so ready to embark on this new life and enjoy things that I haven't enjoyed before (shopping outside the plus area) ...Congrats and Good Luck 2 you all!!!

Well you guys my approval came on 08/18 and I rcv'd a call today from surgeons office stating that they rcv'd by med recs from Tru Results and I'm cleared and scheduled for surgery 10/10/14!!!! TOTALLY EXCITED AND NERVOUS at the same time!

Rcv'd a call from my surgeons office Dr Christopher Reilly, Houston TX stating they were calling to schedule surgery !!! I had the option of 9/26 or 10/10. Knowing how bad I am anticipating this I wanted to take the 9/26 but went for 10/10 just to build more vacation time after unexpt'd vacay with my sick child. That's neither here are there but whats really got me going is that IM FINALLY SCHEDULED and it was the easiest process when I thought it would be much harder. So to any of you beginning this journey my words of continuing encouragement is STAY PRAYERFUL, STAY POSITIVE, AND A LITTLE PATIENCE GOES A LONG WAY!!

Bcbstx n I've met my $750 deductible and I only have $770 left from meeting my $3750 out of pocket expense max, after that insurance covers at 100% instead of 80%....tentative surgery date is 9/26 but I hope that changes since my insurance approval is now in the works....

Im super excited and somewhat still anxious. My file was submitted to BCBSTX 07/30/14, received 08/01/14, as of today I was told that it has been reviewed and looks as if itll be approved, they are just waiting for the review team to finalize and close out my case! OMG is this really gonna happen?!?! and Thanking God that my total out of pocked should be 700.00 or less.

I don't feel bad for calling my insurance everyday since July 21...... They don't feel bad for having me anxiously waiting for my file to come out of "review" after they make you do 6 months nutrition/dietician, physicshiatrist eval, prep group, support group and they already know you're overweight be it just that, obese, morbidly obese, super obese or whatever other name that they can think of instead of just helping you when the conclusion is, after everything else failed over the years, is WLS. I don't get it..... Then they tell me that they have up to 30 days to approve or disapprove the procedure!

Well I spoke with them again today and I was advised that its currently being reviewed and to allow a couple of more days which will make the 7th business day...and u better believe I will be calling first thing Wednesday morning. I can take the suspense! The docs office gave them a tentative date of 09/26/14 im hoping if approved that can be moved up! ANNNNNNNNND on top of that the surgeons office was to call after my results from my EGD were done to schedule, I call them and she states my results are on the docs desktop and he wont b back until 2moro....I CANT TAKE IT !! PRAYING FOR A SPEEDY APPROVAL FOR ME AND EVERYONE ELSE GOING THRU THE MOTIONS
