  1. Welcome to the forum. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Good Luck!
  2. Hello, I have been looking on the internet about IBS and I think I might have it. I experience abdominal pains (not severe but noticeable) bloating and lots of gas. I sometimes find relief when I pass the gas, but this is happening everyday. When I try to poop, it doesn't make it's way down too easy. I have to struggle (if you know what I mean). I took ex-lax over the weekend which gave me relief until today. Ughhh.... I am fasting this month of Ramadan and I know I'm not getting enough water in during the day, but this has been going on for about a year on and off. I try to watch what I eat like brocolli and cabbage. If any of you have IBS can you tell me if there are home remedies I can try or supplements I can take? Any help is appreciated.
  3. You need to take care of yourself first before you can help others. Your brothers addiction is his own. Advise him where to get help. If he doesn't listen, then let it be. As for mom, I'm sure she knows how to take care of herself. She's a grown woman. I'm not saying to not be there for her, but she may be stronger than you think. She is the mother, not you. I hope everything works out and God Bless!
  4. Congrats on your weight loss!! Though I did enjoy my baggy panties I got tired of them riding up my butt. As of this weekend, I went from buying size 12-14 panties to a size 9. They feel and fit great. Can't wait until I can fit into a size 5 or 6.
  5. Hang in there. I hate it when Dr's say that the band works for some and not others.
  6. I hope you get to feeling better. Sorry about the band. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Good Luck
  7. Inches are just as important. Before you know it, the weight will come off. You are doing fine. Hang in there. Congrats on your loss so far!
  8. Thin crust pizza should be fine. Just be sure you watch your portion size and chew, chew, chew. Remember, it will have alot of calories so limit yourself. Enjoy!!
  9. I haven't joined yet, but I purchsed their band that goes around your stomach. I put it on before my workout and boy does it work. I love it.
  10. When I feel the need to eat bread, I make sure I eat wheat bread only. I also toast it first. Even if I just get a couple of bites, it satifies my urge.
  11. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
  12. I was thinking about using Dr. Benavides because he is just a few blocks from my house. When I called the office to see what I needed to do to get an appt., the lady told me I had to have all my medical records faxed from my surgeon to him, and then he would review to see if he wanted to take me on as a patient. SCREW that!!! I don't want my medical records being faxed. All I wanted him for was for my fills anyway.
  13. Tengal, WOW!!! I am so sorry you had to go thru that! I hope you get to feeling better soon. Congrats on meeting your weight loss goal.
  14. Don't let all the past experiences dampen the dicision to have the band. I agree with rodriguezequal in that you need to do your research and understand that the band is just a "tool". You will need to do your part. If you want it to work for you, then you have to work at it. Only you can make the decision to have the band or not. Good Luck!
  15. Just call your Dr's office and ask the nurse.
  16. HeatherO, I am also fasting this month of Ramadan. Yesterday was also a hard day for me. Not eating during the day doesn't bother me, it's the not drinking. I usually drink water all day long. It's hard to eat an early AM meal and then turn around and eat a meal at night when it's late. I got up at 3:45 am this morning so that I would have the time to eat before time to fast. This morning I had 2 glasses of water, a small bowl of oatmeal, and 1/2 a piece of toast. Last night I ate very little. When I broke my fast last night, I ate 1-2 dates. Try it...it really does help. Take it easy and try to allow yourself more time to eat. Ramadan Mubarak.
  17. Check you insurance policy before you appeal. There maybe an exclusion.
  18. Well said Ceradad. How can people expect to lose any weight if they aren't doing their part? I mean come on why have the surgery if you're not going to care enough about what you have to do to get healthy. Congratulations on your weight loss!!
  19. BandyKandy, Don't give up! All you have to do is start over again. So what!! We are here for you. Try going in for another fill and see how it goes. Yes, it will take time to get to your restriction level, but if you really want this to work for you, you will need to do what it takes. Hang in there!!!
  20. Good for you! You must have a wonderful Dr.
  21. Congratulations!!!
  22. Jerro, I too had an aggressive fill but it didn't kick in until 2 wks later. Keep calling the Dr's office. I too was told my dr wasn't in and was told by the nurse that if I couldn't wait until my appt to get an unfill, then I should go to the ER. She also told me that there they would have to take everything out which I didn't care because I was miserable. The nurse also told me to sip fluids. Sip very, very, slowly. My husband would also give me ice chips. Please be persistent with the dr's office. It will not get better. I wasn't able to eat, drink, sleep, or swallow for 7 days. Those were the most miserable days of my life. Until she gets to the dr, have her lay down with her head up-that will help with the saliva and acid just sitting her throat. I hopes she gets better soon. Please keep us posted. Good Luck!!!
  23. I'm sorry you had to go thru that. Some dr's can be real assholes. Is there anyway you can go see another surgeon? You want someone that will encourage you along the way on this journey. Good Luck!! Hang in there.
