    Post Op Blues?

Listen, i know how you feel. I hat cream of mushroom soup now, lol. I was sleeved on /august 26th and I have two more weeks of puree. My doc told me that my foods should be able to fit through a straw. With that being said, I think that my main meals will be protein shakes. i think I will try a protein soup today that my NUT gave me a sample of. it will get better.

August post op sleevers: Check in

Hello all! Checking in today after my 2 weeks post op visit yesterday. I am down 13 pounds in two weekss, Yay! My bp was 164/90, Nay! I was really hoping that I will not need these dang nabbit pills again. So, I will have to take my crushed bp meds and they are disgusting. My surgeon still have me pureed foods fo another 2 weeks. i showed him my baby food that I made for myself and he said it was too thick, WHAT! He said that if it cannot come through a straw then it is too thick. Now that is a bummer, really. I can't imagine runny chicken. I was extremely pooped yesterday. I didn't want to eat of drink anything. I ended up taking a nap around 12 and then went to bed around 9. It was bad but today I hav energy. My dietician got on me about my shakes so now I am concentrating on them now. My meal plan is the have at least 2 shakes per day (these are 27 grams of Protein a piece). Now, I have to tweek these shakes because I do not like the taste. I add 1 tblspoon of Peanut Butter and a small piece of banana. i will have two high protein Snacks and a small dinner. Also, trying to avoid this diarrhea that I have sometimes. Yesterday was bad.Still taking the 2 Flintstones Complete. I have a few NSV(non scale victories). My ring is loose. I was able to bend down with my knees instead of having my butt in the air, lol. I was also able to cross my legs a little and I notice that my stomach is smaller. Anyone else?

How can you say that it is not working for you? You lost 30 pounds in two weeks, that's awesome! Just like before the WLS, it will take time. Some folks reach their goal weight in 6 mos, 8 mos or a year. Just stick to plan and it will move eventually for you.

Why do I have to drink slowly?

I have ato agree. Everyone is different. the first week I had to sip. If I did not it hurt like crazy. I am still sipping but a little faster. I don't measure the fluids either. I just sip sip sip until I am full. I try to do at least 2-3 shakes a day with plenty of water and two small high protein snacks.

I am in the same boat karen. I think I can handle like 2 tblspoons and I am stuffed. We should be eating every 2 hours anyway, right? trying to get the protein in with those little meals of ours. I usually wait 1 hour before I go to the beverages and that helps me out a lot too. Are you still doing the shakes?
  12. jelmore, I love love love lamb too. But it was a small piece to see if it was tender enough,
  13. I was sleeved August 26th. I had a piece of hotdog, a piece of lamb, one popcorn(today). So you are not alone. Also, i started my puree stage one day early. My 2 weeks post visit is in the morning.
  14. That looks awesome. How much of it did you consume? Also, why didn't you invite me? I love foods like that.

I know its hard guys. I am on pureed foods and feel like a baby, lol. But keep pushing though this and it will get better. I don't have all my energy back either but it sure is better than surgery week. Not to mention my enabler bought Snickers and Kit Kat into the house, SMH. We can do this. Please don't have any regrets. Just keep striving! Soon we will be able to up the food intake and eat normal. Also, we can start to kick butt in the exercises.

    Freaking out!

I was in your shoes like 10 days ago and I feel like nothing happened. Reality kicks in for me when it is time to eat. I can only take in 1/4 of cream of mushroom Soup now. You will be fine. I certainly had the same thoughts as you. I was drinking EAS chocolate Protein before surgery. I had Atkins and Premier as well.

    Last minute meal help

Fresh is always better but if you are into the frozen meal, try lean cuisine or weight watchers.

    Last minute meal help

Thanks for the advice. This idea is excellent for single folks, busy moms and people that don't cook much in general. I was thinking the same. I need to have pre-made meals for myself. What do you put in your chilli? Do you use tomatoes or spaghetti sauce?

3 days out having a tough time

It will get better for you. I had a hard time as well. I just refilling my hospital mug and sipped sipped sipped. As far as the protein drinks, it was harder because they are thicker. But the nausea I had made it very difficult to tolerate the shakes.
  20. I totally agree with you on that one Mike.

@@Akafij, hey stay away from that cupcake. I totally understand the temptation. I just want to take one Dorito and let dissolve in my mouth forever. But you noticed your mistake and just keep busy for a smaller and healthier you. @Keisha_lorraine: That is awesome my friend. Keep up the good work and it show soon.

Glad to see everyone is doing well here. I have no idea where i am in regards to weight lose. I do notice that my stomach is getting smaller, YaY! I have my energy back, it doesn't matter because I am still lazy, lol. I am so over the full liquid thing. I hope to be cleared to the next next phase on Monday. I also did not exercise yet. I need to be cleared for the recumbent bike, once that happens I am going to take off with that. Still doing the Flintstones Complete. Four out of five of my terry strips came off. The biggest incision is closed. I was really concerned with that. All in all I feel like I didn't have the surgery. But I must note that I did not have hernia repair so that could make a difference. My pain after surgery felt like a bad tummy ache. And the pain on day 2 that I had felt like an alien was coming through my chest. Talk about Aliens part 7, lol. That pain was terrible but was controlled with narcotics. I also suffered from nausea and they gave me Patches to take home. That nausea really set me back. they kept bringing the Optisource shakes and they were terrible. the only thing I did like was the broth. I wasted those shakes and felt bad about it. I am so happy that so many of the August folks are getting their walking in. As long as we stick to our doctor's plan we can accomplish our goals people. Just remember to measure and take your time eating and drinking. Any NSV's (non scale victories) yet? Please share.

    Sushi...

It would depend how far you are out. I seen people that are 6 months or more that tried it. Like the poster before, they were only able to eat 3 pieces max. The other half was used for another meal. I also saw that they requested light rice for their rolls. I love sushi!

    I AM BAD....OPINIONS.

I think everyone that is pre or post op can understand you. It pisses me off that everything my hubby brings in this house is junk. the fact that they can eat their food that i cook and then I have two of my youngings looking at my Soup or Protein drink. I tell them to get lost, seriously! I know that this was a major decision we made for a better person but it is hard. It's very hard. I was thinking about Doritos the other day, SMH. Just let me suck on one for a few mintues, lol. So yeah, you are okay.
