  1. Hey Everybody...I am up to 5cc in my 10cc Allergen band. I have an appt on 8/26 and I need another fill this will be my fourth. I had restriction in early July but it left after about 3 weeks. My weight is is down 30 lbs. My doc is very pleased at the progress thus far. I would like to see more pounds gone but I can wait for the weight to come off. This learning process is something else. After all my surgery was not quite 5 months ago and I don't want to be flabby by losing too fast.

Non-scale victories are size 22 to 18, no more blood pressure pills, I can cross my legs, no seatbelt extender needed on an airplane woohoo, my DH can touch his elbows when he hugs me oh yeah!!, my stamina is through the roof.

A face to face buddy would be great, only if to meet a couple times per month.. Do any of you have buddies? Does it help?

Hang in there everybody, we are all so different but yet the same. We chose the slow road for a reason. Congrats to all for working to get healthy and on your scale & non-scale victories.

  2. Hello all Ga. banders,

I too felt a little lonely not being able to identify with anyone from my area. I live in Valdosta, Ga. and I know very few people who have been banded or who’s getting band. My doctor is Kevin McCowan at SmithNorthviewHospital. I will have my sleep study done this Sat and all my paper work will be turned into my insurance company. I have met all the requirements Cigna initial told me I was required to meet. I am praying to get an approval around the middle of June. I am glad to be able to chat with some local banders. Good luck to very one in their road to being banded or currently losing weight with their band.

Good Luck to ya, Shonette.. I was banded on April 1st and I am happy and thankful that I did. I live just north of you near Tifton, GA. Holla if you need anything.

    Patty

  3. I was filled on 5/13 with 2.5 mL which gives me a total of 3.0 mL as the Surgeon had left 0.5 mL in the band after surg. From what I gather the size of my opening now is the circumference of the middle of my thumb. The fill process was not very painful at all. My NP numbed the area 1st then placed the needle and filled. I drank a few sips of Water to make sure that I wasn't too tight and then off I went. Restriction? Not real sure. I have been on soft, mushies until today. I'll have a real lunch and then check back in. This morning I had a shake and water. Lunch will probably be shrimp and veggies.

  4. Hey Courtney....welcome, welcome, welcome. congrats on the surg date. I did not lose much on sugar buster's either. Just keep doing what's required and you will be well on your way. Maybe try posting a typical days meal and you may get more feedback.

Hey ethelinga..are you ready for that fill? I can hardly wait until May 12th. I had to change my appt date from Thurs to Weds. My weightloss has slowed and I am in the middle of BANDSTER HELL...ugh Holding on tight but ready for the fill.

    ttyl Patty

  5. Hey BB's... I am still around. My classes are a little demanding right now and I am trying to balance everything out. Fitting everything into a schedule is kinda hard. Any time mgmt experts out there want to help me come up with doable routine. Email me, I really need some help. OK, now onto the udate, like Timbergurl I have been in a holding pattern no losses this week. My cycle came and OMG it was very painful, did this happen to anyone else? I was able to control my CHOCAHOLIC fever that comes with this totm, so that was an accomplishment.yay!

@FTSTOMPER I am working on the pic. The before will be easy but I think the after may take a minute or 2.

@ethelinga...Oh my, you are just doing it well. Congrats on the losing. Wow if you go the 2nd week in May, I am scheduled for Thurs the 13th. Maybe we'll meet up then.

@ Timbergurl...Don't worry, I believe this is the "norm". When we start to get the fills things will start to happen again. Just keep following the rules and this holding pattern that we are in will take off. I would have freaked out if I had not talked to Dr B's office. Call them if you need to discuss some specifics as they were very helpful and comforting to me. Keep up the good work. Congrats on being banded.

  6. Had my surgery yesterday and home around noon. Slept good last night on Loritab. Got in over 60 oz of Water and two Protein drinks yesterday. Walked about a quarter mile.

Not taking the Loritab today as it makes me feel fuzzy and dizzy. I am feeling my stitches a bit now so I had my husband go get me some liquid Tylenol. Walked half a mile and have had 40 oz of water and one protein drink. Started adding dissolvable fiber to my protein drink so I do not get constipated.

I stopped taking my Metformin (last dose might before surgery) and my blood sugar today was 115. It has been running 150 in the AM. I am watching it closely and hoping I do not have to get some liquid Metformin.

I have five incisions. They are stapled, not stitched. The biggest one has a bit of drainage, but not too much. They are sore, but nothing I would call pain. Hurts the most when I roll over.

I get really full really fast, with only a few drinks of liquid. Not hungry and can't even imagine eating at this point.

I hope everyone is doing as well as I am!:smile2:

Glad to see that you are doing so well. I was asking about you on yesterday. Everyday feels much better. I had to sleep on my back for the first 2 nights. Now I sleep comfy on either side. My hunger came back around day 4 or so. You really are doing terrific. The April Bandster Bunnies ROCK!!!

  7. i cant get the Protein drink in, just seems like so much but i am hydrated. my right thigh is numb. i'm gassy but i have no pain.

anyone else having issues with the protein drink?

I didn't have any issues with the protein. I used the Protein Shots from GNC and thinned it with Water. Maybe someone else will chime in. Great that you are staying hydrated. the proein will help with saiety. It did for me, anyway.:smile2:

  8. Good Luck to ya Waynooo. We'll see ya on the losers bench.

A new Me for Me- If you have big boobs take a good bra. I had the gas-x strips, lip balm (you will need & use it), supplies for contact lens care and have a pillow in the car for under the seatbelt. That is all I had that I really used.

My 1 week post op appt today went great. Progressed to mushy, ok to exercise (no crunches), incisions are healing great. That dermabond is some wonderful stuff. Officially of of the BP medication. Bonus: got my braces of today, also..Yay!!!:smile2:

  10. Greetings all, everyone.

Had my surgery today. Went in at 8:30 and at 8:50 they told my husband I was done and I was a textbook case!!!

Then they told me I could go haome. I thought I had to stay overmight, so I insisted they call my insurance and I got to go home.

I am sore, as if I had just done a thousand sit ups, but no pain, no gas, no farting, and some nice, releaving burps. I am drinking my Water and a Protein drink. Not hungry. Walked around the block with my husband.

Overall, much easier than I anticipated. And, when they weighed me, I had lost 23 pounds.

Hurray for me! Life is good.

Best of luck to those getting banded tomorrow.

Wow, that was a great experience. Thanks for updating. I'm glad that all went well for you. Yes, life is good..

Good Luck to ya. See ya on the losing side...

  12. Froggie D where are you? We need an update....

Mamasugar how are you feeling? Are catching a jet to see the family.

Hello to everybody. Congrats to the newly banded and to those that are too be banded.

Classes started back for me on Tues so I have missed quite a few posts, wow.

My post op appt is on tomorrow and I am so ready to come of of the Clear Liquids. No pain or soreness since Sunday night. These loose bowels are the pits.. I've been using IDS 42g Protein Shots and GNC pro performance to get the Protein in. The incisions are healing wonderfully. Dr Bagnato did an excellent job.

  13. Brina you were so right..I am actually 6 days post op now....Yay!!! I am just so hungry, but I know better than to jepordize all this hard work. My weight is down to 250 but I don't think that will last once I start eating. Sure feels good to wollow in it now:biggrin: while it's here.

How is it going for you? I see that the next support group is on Thurs 22nd. I know the weekdays aren't good for you. We all may just have to pick a Saturday and have some sort of self support gathering? What do you think?

  14. HappyTrucker, congratulations and welcome BandSister...lol :)

I'm glad it went well for you. I had Dr. B keep me overnight because I live in Griffin, which is a 3 hour drive. He had no problem with it.

I am 14 days out and down 15 pounds...Yahoo! Tomorrow I am starting on purred food. I didn't have a food processor and my blender is so old, I think it is run by gerbil power...lol. Anyway, I bought a Ninja food processor from Walmart and it was a GOOD investment. It works like a charm. It really does what the infomercials say it will. It turns ice into snow, great to mix with all this liquid.

Just a little advise, no one told me to drink a lot of Gatorade my first week, they just said that I 'could' have some if I wanted it. Trust me, you need to drink it that first week or you will get weak as a kitten. I found out the hard way. By the fifth day, all I wanted to do was sleep and I felt real wimpy. Also, I found what I consider to be a very good Protein drink at Walmart (for the second week). It is Myoplex, comes in a 4 pack, has 25gms of Protein per bottle. It comes in 3 flavors, chocolate Cream, vanilla Cream and strawberry Cream. All three are delicious!

What is your first name so that I can introduce myself at the next support meeting.

    Catch ya later,

    Ethel[/QUOT

Congrats on the 15 lb loss. Thanks for all the tips. I have been sipping on Powerade zero and oh my dehydration is not the prob. Staying out of the bathroom is a chore. Also, SF Jello, SF popsicles, Swanson reduced sodium broth(kinda filling), herbal tea, Water, protein shots.. I go see Dr B on Thurs am hoping to move on to the next phase. Patty

  15. Hello folks! Banded April 2nd! Sooo happy the surgery is out of the way and I can now begin my journey to the new me. Incisions still sore and not too hungry today. Yesterday I was starving. My doc has me only on clear liquids and Jello for a week. I did have a tablespoon of hummus last night though. I was craving it. oops! It's tough not eating solid foods! Is anyone else having a hard time with just liquids?

Getting the liquids in is no problem. Clear liquids for a week. My BIG problem right now is that my DH is cooking and I am so so hungry right now. I want something solid, but I know that I have to wait.

Also, I have been in the bathroom for most of the day. I have nothing left in me:eek:. Oh well I see my surgoen on Thurs, hopefully I will be advanced to the next phase.. hang in there!!!

  16. Mamasugar~ glad to hear your surgery went well.

HappyTrucker~ Sorry to hear your incisions are bothersome today. Your DH is right, you don't have to be a hero. Stay up and moving since that makes you feel better, but take your pain meds if your incision pain gets worse. Afterall, you did just have surgery :bored: As for a ticker: 1)go to tickerfactory.com 2)click on "weight loss" 3)follow the steps as they guide you through creating your unique ticker 4) at the end you will have the option to copy the html code 5)paste that code into your signature (under the edit signature option on your user cp). Hope this helps!

Thanks I am trying it right now. I appreciate your help.

  17. Thanks lunamiah. Congrats on getting your date. That happens to be my birthday, also.

This morning is going well. I still have to get up out of the bed gingerly and no real tossing and turning while sleeping. I still have the burning sensation at the upper incision when I move too quickly, it's not unbearable but it is there. I went to KMart and to the grocery store on yesterday. No problems with the walking. My DH joked that now he can walk faster than me. I told him only until I am fully healed.

While it's sunny out today, I may just go out and walk around the yard.

Again, Good Luck to ya..Keep posting.
