do you feel sick all of the time? did you need more surgery after losing the weight?
luluc replied to rachel1969's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
typically when food gets stuck - it's my fault, i've eaten too fast. it's an issue a yr out that i sometimes forget that i have the band, then realize i have to slow down, and chew a bit more. to date there is no food i avoid - aside from fast food & crap, which i really didn't care for prior to banding.... you have as much to lose as i have lost. no issues with skin for me requiring plastic surgery. i do have an appt the first of Jan to get my eyes done..... want the eyes to appear the way the rest of me feels...!!! -
, ha - i could have written that!!! it's a multiple cup of coffee morning......family likes to arrive earlier and earlier each yr before the holidays.... fanny - i love your pics....keep posting them!!!

First fill and nothing - suggestions please!
luluc replied to San Diego Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ok patty, that was wrong on many fronts. i would be concerned that i was poked 6-8 times, not coming close to the port - and that maybe the tubbing was pierced, which can cause a leak. second, as a self pay patient - i realize the need for training, but it's not going to be on me. after the first, maybe second failed try - i would have requested a qualified "filler". i also, never had to put my feet in the air to access my port.... third, who tells a patient: "maybe you will have lost some more weight by then."? isn't that the reason we get the band? poor bedside manner. i would call and schedule another fill as soon as possible & request a qualified person to do so. let them know how discouraged you feel about the quality of service the last time and the inconvenience of travel tied to that visit. hope it goes better the next time! -
yesterday - b- 3/4c cheesy grits l- half cucumber w/hummus d- 1/2c chicken divan s- 3 twizzlers

What do you wish you knew before?
luluc replied to Janiece's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nothing quick about this process....and no easy out either. i don't accept either of those thought processes because i know the hard work i put in & those of others here. a yr ago walking up & down my driveway was a chore (arthritis) - now my fitness level is where it was 15yrs ago & couldn't be happier...but i put the work in, the lap band just assisted along the way....doesn't get all the credit. as far as foods - i really don't miss anything; if i want something, i generally have it...however my tastes have changed, i enjoy healthier foods more often & it's not a chore, nor do i view it as a "diet". -
yesterday - b- banana scream Protein drink l- 1/4 lobster tail (leftovers) & 3 asapargus s- handful of pretzels w/hummus d- chips & queso, lg margarita s - 1 lg orange

Thanksgiving and family...
luluc replied to MrsFlipFlops's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i too am going to my inlaws on thankgiving, they don't know i'm banded or their son for that matter. they just think we have been dieting & exercising (which is the truth). they are not the type to be supportive in any way - so it's our secret (except my family - they get it). i plan to have a little bite of everything; fill my plate up with spoon size amounts of her dishes & if she says anything - i'll just let her know that we also have my brothers house to attend to later in the day & saving room. this is so personal - i only told my family when i was 6 months out. you shouldn't feel pressured to tell anyone that you don't want to.... happy turkey day! -
you would be surprised how just .25/.50/.75 will do the trick for a fill. i've had an episode similar to yours where i got 1.5cc's and had to go in the next morning and get 1cc taken out. then a wk later get .25 out.......apparently .25 was all i needed. i also have to drive an hr to my dr & it's a PITA - but being over filled is not good for the band or your health. hope your feeling better!

went thru True Results as well, along with hubby. wow they went down in price - we paid 15k each for ours over a yr ago. insurance paid for all the testing; we were denied REALLY fast - and decided to self pay. 2 wks later we got banded....it was a fast track.

What do you wish you knew before?
luluc replied to Janiece's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i completely hear ya...your told these things, but till you actually LIVE them ... do you "get it". another thing i wish i knew was that it would take losing quite a few lbs in the beginning to drop a size in clothes. -
here ya go denise: Meez: Home ~~ Avatars, Free Games, and Virtual Worlds posting that i have to go run a marathon this morning; not for real - just to counter the thousands of calories i ate yesterday....as i go hunt for my running shoes....happy saturday all!!!!
