So- Do You Sit Down and Eat Like The Rest of The Family?
luluc replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
luckily banded same day as my husband (no kids). so meal time is very easy. i've read a few threads that some have had their food bill drop; not us - we spend more money now on fresh produce/fish/etc.....didn't realize how cheap processed crap was. i can do toast - has to be thin/wheat, pasta on occassion, brown rice frequently. i don't think you'll have to give up your favorites, but might find healthier subsitutes, as i think our taste buds change along the way... -
good for you JODY!!!!, i get lost w/my ipod sometimes but a good soak in the hot tub....which i can't WAIT to do, however needs to cool down some here in TX , is so good on the bones. be sure to take some down time & stretch good on "off" days.... today - normally don't train w/my trainer on saturdays (tsd/thrs) but if he's free - i'm going to take him up. 1hr session - ALL core strength training: abs/arms/hams/butt pretty sure i won't walk tomorrow - but i have a run scheduled in the am, pending no issues of the hurricane locally w/my BF who's running the 5k w/me in a few wks.. hope all is having a good wkend!!!

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
luluc replied to Daisalana's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
see, and now i just assumed you were voting for her cause you really liked her hair....???:wink2: KYbandchick - i don't think she (palin) has any significant advantage from the big boys being mean, certainly not from the women i interract with who are either for or against her politics. in fact i find my conservative friends more critical of her than my liberal ones - they like the fight she has & no matter how you look at it - it's a good moment for women in politics ... all be it not my fan favorite. little unfair w/the golf comment - might hurt some men here reading; since i can kill my hubby w/my drive....putting; another story:rolleyes: -
that's not necessarily true. multiple meals (3 plus 1 or 2 healthy snacks) are recommended by some physicians because they feel you have to shock your metabolism or properly fuel it. you can work your band correctly & not require "a healthy" snack for weight loss to work for you - or you may need additional meals to fuel you properly, your surgeon should help you there. it's not a cookie cutter description that it's all or nothing - because what works for one ; does not for another. dealing with head hunger & emotional eating is one thing ; it doesn't have to relate to healthy snacking along the way.
-
some drs say No - some say Yes. all relative. my snacking depends on my day. if i have an active busy day with a training session - yeah i'm likely to eat more than say a day i am average in my movement & just take a yoga class. i avg 3 meals a day plus one or 2 snacks. my surgeon recommends snacking for those that are active & need more calories than someone stationary. calories in = calories out.....you can't be in training mode & anticpate that only 3 meals will sustain you; you might have to do a bit of trial & error that works for you while in weightloss mode....,

bread has to be thin ; whole grain & toasted for me to be able to eat. otherwise i like the wasa crispbread (fibre) as another alternative.
-
this is making me giggle - yes we need a snack fairy conference. my fairy has a "crunch" fettish - but gets bored with carrots/cucumbers/nuts after a period of time. fruit also only goes so far - big cherry fan myself (like them half frozen)..LOL my big ole' labs are enjoing some beef jerky & pretzles - i'm sure the gas fairy will be on her way..
-
*babe - popular it seems...till we had a rescued pup for 3 months we could not come up with a name, and everytime i called to hubby "babe" she responded...so that name gets used a lot & both hubby and dog respond.....LOL *steveeeeeeee' - when i want something *steven - when serious *sugar or sugar plum fairy tail - when being silly *buba - when he gets all texan on me (i'm from NYC) ** but hon, gets used the most i guess**
-
hey kathy - online, go run! got 5.2miles in today - broken down because i'm a slug trying to do this 5k all at once. but i'm able to add more / more each time... get on the treadmill!!! LOL
-
lol, trolls - ya know he bought 100calorie packs but of EVERY cookie / snack treat (12 - different boxes). i just don't really keep that in the house. maybe once a month - i get "something" or he moans when i hand him a bag of carrotts. - HA!! he's a big snacker - late night especially since he can't normally eat till late afternoon. dogs are already spoiled - since we got banded, they get LOTS of leftover scoobies. i'm a tad south - west of DFW. no expectation of being hit other than w/a lot of rain & wind. froggi - are you able to get a generic substitute for your med that is too expensive?
-
the snack fairy showed up today:redface:i should be thankful that hubby did a grocery shopping this afternoon - but we're both banded & don't need the amt of "STUFF" he bought to outride Ike. i think there might be some happy dogs here shortly as they'll be getting extra scoobie snacks......
-
today - 5.2mile run = broken down: 2mile run/ 15min walk/ 2.2mile run/ 10min walk/ 1mile run.

just a few ways my life has changed since being banded
luluc replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i read that thread as well - but this one is more relatable, as i'm living the changes - not wishing for them.....both are great inspirations! * i like feeling the air between my legs when i walk. no more rubbing together * i love that my activity level is off the hook. i work out often, run & it does not feel like a chore... * love the fact i'll look better in my 40's than i did in my 30's * in changing my diet; i pay attention a whole lot more as to what i put in my mouth. i read labels, shop for fresh food, & all around make healthier choices regarding food. that too is not a chore. * clothes just look a lot better when you purchase them to "fit" - not hide. * getting my social groove back. sorta went into seclusion after the weight gain & now i can't wait to get out & about these days. * hubby is a FT gropper. everday he tells me how "great i look" - the smile is back & i am more confident and it shows.... could keep going...the band has just been a positive thing for me!! -

So Do U Eat the Recommended 3 Meals A Day If
luluc replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i eat 3 meals a day w/ 1 or 2 Snacks - just depends on my level of activity. the 2 days a wk i meet w/my trainer i add a Protein smoothie that day. i've played around w/my calories / carbs / protein for a while now when training hard - and i've found my Protein shake on those days helps me recover & sustain those workouts. keeping meals to 3 a day did nothing but stall my weightloss in the beginning...when i added a snack (healthy of course) or 2 a day - got my calories over 1000 .... i had the lbs steadily coming off...trial/error. what will work for one - won't for another.. -

not this democrat - but i do notice many repulicans finding the need to "use" it. as though it's a "bad" thing - it's his heritage. period republicans are passive aggressive in using his middle name - for the shear purpose of fear - democrats respond in kind. i don't agree with that either - but lets not let the repubs off the hook with what their intentions are by using it. -

comm'on gadget - when mccain said it, it was in may of this yr when he was describing the "failed" healthcare proposal of hillary clinton back in '93. was the democratic audience not sophisticated enough to get that jab, as the republicans are now with obama's comment "possibly" directed @ palin? to me it was the comment of an old man & many dems took it that way - but the uproar because obama made a similar remark....well goodness .. put it to rest. i said before, just stupid. on all fronts..move on. sex ed - got a problem, (holding my liberal flag mind ya). i couldn't get access to my local ISD for either a sit in on a sex ed class, nor get the curriculum. it's very unfortunate that parents are not comfortable having a sexuality discussion w/their children that they rely up on the school to do so. i as a parent (and am not nor will be), not afraid to have that discussion w/my kid - should be concerned with what's shared & at what age. do i want my 5 yr old to know about STD's - absolutely not....but i would like he/she to understand inappropriate behavior & feel comfortable with ME (the parent) to report any such "improper touching". this one issue does not an election make - for me at least; but it's interesting to read all the responses.. -
Juice cleance/jump start weightloss/clear complexion
luluc replied to muckstack's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
then do it. if your dr has no problem, enjoy the juices! my dr does not recommend drinking meals - i personally like food enough to not drink them as well .. so personal choice. btw - all caps really isn't necessary when sharing thoughts / ideas on the subject.
