Have you gotten an appointment with an ob/gyn yet?
-
Keep us posted as to how you're doing and good luck!
-
Wow thanks for the excellent review - it really helps!
-
Purelygraceful, what flavors of Isopure do you like? I have heard that some of them are kinda nasty and would love your opinion.
-
That's why I didn't tell anyone about my bypass except my husband and my sister. I hope you find the support you need, whether it's online or through a postop support group.
-
So you're 7 weeks pregnant and 5 weeks postop, okay. Get to your surgeon or ob/gyn immediately - I can't stress that enough. You will need a tremendous amount of help with this and the sooner you get it, the better!
-
My surgeon recommended bypass for me because of my diabetes. It's been performed for more years than the other procedures.
-
Get to your surgeon tomorrow! It will be extremely difficult to get sufficient nourishment for your baby and yourself, but I am sure it can be done.
I'm confused as to how you can be 5 weeks pregnant and also 5 weeks postop. Did they not do a pregnancy test before surgery?
-
You might look into a bariatric Vitamin like optisource. It's a chewable you can buy at Walgreens. These were specially recommended by my bypass team. I'm 4 weeks out and have been doing well. I hope you're better soon.

Glad you're here! Losing weight was never a problem for me, but KEEPING it off sure was hard lol
-
I want to get a picture taken with my husband for our 20th anniversary in February. I haven't willingly taken a photo in 5 years.
-
So sorry you had complications. I also had a complication and it took me about 3 weeks to stop thinking "why the hell did i do this". Now I'm 4 weeks out and feeling so good! I hope you find a post-op support group and/or a counselor to work with. Hopefully that will help you.

I has bypass August 11 and took off 3 weeks. I probably could have gone back after 2 but I was still pretty wiped out.
-
My bypass was 8/11 and they released me 8/13. Re-admitted 8/15 with acute abdominal hemorrhage and went home 8/17. No pain at all but super duper nausea. Good luck to you!

My preop team said people either love or hate buffets. You can probably understand the hate part of it. One of my nurses (who had RNY herself) said some people love buffets because you can have 1 bite of 7 different things, allowing you to experience a variety of tastes. We're all different and will decide what is best for us!
-
Congrats! Mine was on 8/11 and I'm still on Clear Liquids. Nothing about this is easy! My recovery was smooth until I started hemorrhaging so I was re-admitted 2days later for a couple nights. Glad you're doing well!

Mine was 10 and they gave me prescription Vitamin d, which you take once a week (weird, right?). Only brought it up slightly so they refilled the prescription. It had NO effect on surgery date. they just said I might need vitamin d injections down the road. Good luck!

Thank you. I thought "hey I'm doing pretty good, not taking any pain or nausea meds at home" and then WHAM! I was in the hospital. I was pretty bummed out but feeling better now!
-
Good luck with everything. Don't worry about the sleep study, it's not too bad. They just hook you up with a bunch of wires and then expect you to sleep lol. You will eventually fall asleep, I promise.

For the first time, I've used the ignore button. Feels good lol.

Yeah that preop diet is rough. What kept me on it was the fact that if I didn't lose enough weight preop, that my surgery COULD be canceled (yikes!). Hang in there!
-
Ain't nothing easy about this process! If I ever hear that comment, I'm gonna go off on someone lol.

Well things got complicated Friday night. Started having bright red blood in my stools (sorry if TMI) which surgeon said was fresh bleeding. Went to ER and waited almost 4 hours to be seen. Admitted Saturday morning with acute hemorrhage but no transfusion was needed. Bleeding stopped on its own and they sent me home Sunday afternoon. Glad to be home!

If you have lost 50 or more pounds, you're supposed to get another sleep study done. You might need a lower air pressure setting, so see your sleep doctor soon.
