  1. I am 3 1/2 wks post-op and can barely move now that I had to stop taking ibuprofen. Tylenol does nothing. I have degenerative disc disease in my lower back and sacroiliac displacement disorder (my hip is tilted and won't stay in place). I was not very mobile before surgery because of this hip condition but it hurts even more now to stand and walk. I would really love it if someone has information on a NSAID patch or topical. I'm enjoying the weight loss of 20lbs but would like to be able to move better and enjoy that loss. I have my 4 wk checkup with the doctor this coming week and it would be great to know of some medication to ask him to prescribe.

Voltaren (sp?) is a topical NSAID. I personally didn't have any relief from it but my situation is different from yours so you may have better luck.

  2. Cauliflower Mashed "Potatoes"

    1 lg head cauliflower

    5 lg cloves garlic

    Salt & Pepper to taste

2 tablespoons grassfed butter (or butter substitute)

    ¼ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg

Fill up a large pot of Water with a couple of inches of Water. Set burner to high and place steamer insert into pot and put on the lid.

While waiting for the water wash and trim the cauliflower and cut up the florets and the stem. Peel the garlic and slice the cloves (the pieces don't need to be perfectly even).

When the water boils, toss in the stems, half the florets, all of the garlic, and a liberal amount of salt.

Next, add the rest of the cauliflower, more salt if you like, and put the lid back on. Steam until soft, about 10 minutes. It's best to make sure this is more overcooked rather than undercooked or it won't turn out smooth.

Drain in a colander. Put it in a food processor and add the pepper, nutmeg, and butter. (Note: if you don't have a food processor you may be able to use a blender, I cannot vouch for this method though). Process until smooth.

PS this reheats well in the microwave if you decide to make ahead.

  3. Something I posted on another similar topic... "For my 2 week pre and post op I made my own Popsicles using Vitamin Water zero. I also made my own Jello using Kool Aid packets and Stevia. Google Kool aid jello and then just substitute stevia for however much sugar the recipe calls for. I also made my own pudding using Greek yogurt (check what sweeteners in ingredients) and unsweetened cocoa powder. It's more work than just buying everything pre made but it was worth it for me."

  4. One month after my surgery I also broke out in a mysterious rash. Mine was on my entire body, I also swelled up really bad, and it appeared overnight. The only thing the doctors knew for certain was that it was something I ingested because of how it was laid out over my whole body (eyelids, palms of my hands, back, legs, you get the picture). I hadn't started any new food because my diet post op was the same as my pre op diet. They never could figure out exactly what it was but a couple doctors told me it was most likely Serum Sickness in response to an antibiotic I was given during the surgery. Here's what it looked like post-228049-14370213791972_thumb.jpg

It eventually just went away after about 2 weeks but I was crazy miserable the whole time. The doctor had me take a combo of otc meds that seemed odd but appeared to help, I believe it was Zyrtec and Prevacid. They did initially give me a 3 or 5 day course of steroids (with approval from my surgeon) which initially seemed to help but overall didn't seem to make much of an impact.

Anyways might be totally unrelated to what you had but just wanted to let you that you're not alone :)

  5. I'm pre- surgical and about 2+ months from surgery. I was wondering if anyone had any information on alternatives to Aspertame in many of the products I think I will be told to consume after surgery? It's not that it's "not sugar", the stuff has always made me feel yucky and lets not get started on the taste. I do not know if I can make that transition. As for the liquid and soft portion of recovery, does anyone have any suggestions for Jello, etc that does not contain Aspertame. I've done Splenda, tried Stevia and most recently Monkfruit. Let's face it, they aren't sugar and that is OK. My body has told me time and time again though that it does not like Aspertame. I have enough fears going into this and don't want this to be another of them. Thanks for any suggestions or ideas in advance :))

Not sure if you're saying you are or are not okay with stevia but that was the only "not sugar" sugar that I have done since surgery. For my 2 week pre and post op I made my own Popsicles using Vitamin Water zero. I also made my own jello using Kool Aid packets and Stevia. Google Kool aid jello and then just substitute stevia for however much sugar the recipe calls for. I also made my own pudding using Greek yogurt (check what sweeteners in ingredients) and unsweetened cocoa powder. It's more work than just buying everything pre made but it was worth it for me. Plus it's only a few weeks and then you should never have to do it again :)

  6. @@sunflowerchild, when I went to Victoria ' s Secret, they had absolutely nothing that fit me. The sales girl didn't believe that I was a DDD either. Said there was no way I was that big. I just sighed and let her go about her business of measuring me as has been done so many times before. She was right, but only not the way she thought. I'm bigger than triple D. These things are deceiving. I am guessing they must have bigger sizes online? I do have to have an underwire because my girls are lazy as hell. They have no lift of their own, and need all the help they can get. I never even got to have cute little perky boobs as a teenager or young woman. These things have been the bane of my existence since they popped up on my chest at 11 years old.

I got this top in a size Medium. It is tight enough that it pushes them in and up, my breasts aren't particularly perky and I never wear a bra without an underwire.

These bottoms I got in a size Medium, very flattering in my opinion and hit you in the right places.

The other suit I got in their store during their semi annual sale and is just a regular underwire top that looks like a bra except the back is closed with strings not a clasp so you can make it extra tight.

I get emails from VS and they have been running free shipping/returns with a swimsuit purchase on and off for the past couple weeks so it might be worth a shot. I know you can also search for tops by bra size. Be sure to read the reviews and that will help you determine if other busty women have liked the product.

Also from experience I would not recommend looking at plus size bathing suits (I'm sure there could be an exception though). When your cup size is large and your band size is small it is not normally classified as being plus size. I tried to look at places like Torrid and whatnot but their smallest size is for a size 12.

  7. My body apparently defies logic. I lost everything except my boobs. No surprise though since I have always had a huge chest even as a young skinny teenager. Now that I'm in a size 6 bottoms but still busting out of a 34DDD bra, I have no clue where to find a suitable bathing suit. I need one with tons of support and definitely an underwire. I have never in my life been able to find a decent suit to cover my girls, and I'd love to be able to this year. Geez, I can't wait until I can get my reduction!!

I am a 32 DDD and a size 8/10 on the bottom. I just got two bathing suits from Victoria's Secret. The key for me was to get a top that is completely adjustable around so that the cups would be big enough but the around part could be as tight as needed. I also got a crop top bikini top which doesn't have underwire (has soft cups) but still feels very supportive and is comfortable. I can try and find the links if you're interested.

  8. Honestly think about it big picture. It's 2 weeks out of the rest of your life that you have to do a liquid diet. Two weeks is such a short amount of time in the grand scheme of things. The end result is WORTH IT, seriously! This might sound harsh but if I'm being honest you gotta just to do it and not give yourself room for excuses. That's what I did for myself to get through it.

  9. I have been experiencing really bad dry mouth due to ketosis. Lack of saliva in the mouth can lead to dental problems. I put a product called OraMoist on the roof of my mouth which dissolve and keep my mouth moist while I'm sleeping (you can wear them during the day too). Maybe ask your dentist is this is something that he/she would recommend?

  10. I actually was given this same thing my my NUT. The greatest part is the nasal b-12 because it's only once a week and apparently is absorbed better than when taken in sublingual form. It's also so nice not to have to think about it, they will just send it to you and that way you never run out. I will say that I did not like the multivitamin and continue to take Flinstones but I think the $20 is worth it just for the B12.
