From 1st Consult to Surgery - how long?
lonestar5212 replied to KMEArnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First consult in Oct. 2007. Surgery is March 14, three days from now. -
Should I go through with it???
lonestar5212 replied to angelface's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
angelface - I am having surgery in 3 days. I have had the jitters about all of it this week. Lots of people have told me it is very normal to get nervous before surgery. I guess it is like wedding jitters. Just sit down and think about what brought you to the lapband in the first place. Go back in thought to the beginning and work yourself back through it. This is a decision only you can make, and you should make it with care. Do what is right for you. I wish you the very, very best. -
Unfinished Lap Band Surgery?
lonestar5212 replied to pandagirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best wishes and lots of love to you today. We are all with you on this journey. You have done so much already, 30 ponds is no match for you, you will do it. -
NeNe - I feel your pain. I hate stories where the process is messed up because someone doesn't take care of business, and there you sit with no power, at their mercy. That kind of stuff made me insane. I bet the reason they took 4 weeks for me was because someone neglected to pass something on, or whatever, in a timely manner. Just keep positive and your day will come.

dogluvr - Remember, it took 4 weeks but I was approved. Hang in there, it will come for you. Remember also, if you meet the criteria, you have nothing to worry about. Sometimes it just takes longer for some of us.

freaking about sleep apnea and my 3-14 surgery

I just read something online about sleep apnea and anethesia and I am freaking out. I am very worried now about post-op. Anybody had issues because of it? -
freaking about sleep apnea and my 3-14 surgery
lonestar5212 replied to lonestar5212's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe just jitters. Wish I had not read the article. My surgery center definitely knows about the sleep apnea because they sent me for the sleep study. I assume they faxed it over to my surgeon. Believe me, I won't go into surgery until I ask everyone if they know about it. I think I am having pretty normal fears here at the end, it just caught me off guard a little. -

getting banded on March 19th
lonestar5212 replied to nurselori73's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Being banded on March 14. Doing pre-op but mine isn't just liquid, so it is fine. What is the magic bullet ya'll were talking about? -
sfeiner - You made me laugh outloud!! You are right, life can beat you up and makes you redefine a lot of stuff along the way. Thanks for laugh and the perspective.

Yeah, my ins. did not require it either, but my surgery center did. I think it is a good idea.

Approved Today And Have Date!!!
lonestar5212 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was approved today by Aetna and have a surgery date of 3-14. I am so excited and in shock, but have started to panic too. -
Seems most ins. companies require a psyc eval as well as your medical evaluation and medical history.

Approved Today And Have Date!!!
lonestar5212 replied to lonestar5212's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the good wishes. After waiting and waiting, I can't believe it is here! Good luck to everyone else who has upcoming surgery. And to those that have already gone through this, stay close, we will probably have lots of questions for you and will need your support. 4nefertiti - I will be thinking of you on the 14th! Good luck. -
Hi everyone, glad to find this group. My surgery is scheduled for next Friday. Question- does it take us 60+ longer to bounce back after surgery? My son's wedding is 3 weeks after my surgery and I was just wondering how ya'll think I might be feeling by then. Thanks.

Congratulations!!! Your new life awaits!

Hang in there. I almost lost my mind waiting to hear back from ins. It took them one month, but I got approval in the end. I think now the person who got my file must have went on vacation for a couple weeks or something. I had met every criteria they had and it still took that long. Some people hear so quickly and others ---- well, you know you are going through it. It was the hardest wait of my life, I feel your pain because I just got approved on 3-05 and I still am recovering from the waiting. Good thoughts go out to you. Your day is coming!!!!

Is it only me? Help!

KAT817 - First, you have done so well, congratulations. I hope my journey can be as successful as yours. That is interesting that over time you have lost taste for some of the old food. That is very encouraging. Working on the mind and then realizing that the taste buds will cooperate too is very encouraging for me. The hope and encouragement and support here is wonderful!!! -
The incredible bouncing BMI!
lonestar5212 replied to smylie1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI over the past 5 years has been a bouncing number also. I got approved last week. -
I only had the one visit also. Told me I was a good candidate, said he would write the report, period. My ins. approved me for a total of 10 visits, but he didn't schedule anymore for me.

Is it only me? Help!
lonestar5212 replied to Bandana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jaime - I like that you used the word demon. Food is an addiction for alot of us. It is the demon that has controlled us and given us a life less than we deserved. You are so right, the band is a tool to help us fight the demon. Finally, we have something to help us to do this successfully. But like any addiction, we will have days of battle to contend with. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just get back up, move on and have a better day tomorrow. -
Has anyone been denied BMI 40 with no co-morbities?
lonestar5212 replied to Rascal76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My ins. also says no co-morbidities necessary if BMI is 40 or above. Who is your carrier? Call them and get their criteria, that is the only way to know for sure. -

Awesome, congratulations to you. We are on our way!!!!! -
They have approved Hurst. I wish it was Lewisville, I live very close. Surprised me because Hurst was not on my list in DocFind, but that is what Dr. Marsden's office told me.
