    Aetna Approved!

I have Aetna POS II. The criteria for me was a three month supervised diet and exercise plan. They did not require 6 months for me. I only lost 13 pounds on the 3 month diet. I started with a BMI of 40, had a 39 when I submitted. I was approved. Had surgery and all is great!

    Your Aetna experience?

temperence1972 - You qualify, you should be approved. Sometimes it takes time for them to get the approval done. Don't be discouraged, the length of time doesn't mean bad news. They approved me on the 30th day! It was hard to wait, but it came through in the end.

Haven't visited yet, but I will. Hang in there. How are you doing?

    Caffeine?

Can someone tell me what the story is with caffeine? None? why? Thanks.

    Caffeine?

I gave up soda long before surgery, but I like to have a warm cup of tea in the morning. It does delay breakfast for me until much later also.

    Your Aetna experience?

JUDBO414 - That is so unbelievable. I know you are sick of this, but with their 2 year requirement, this doesn't make sense to me. Call and call and see if you can get someone in review to talk to you. If you appeal, I would include a letter stating that you have supplied more than the required two year health history. You have to bring it to their attention somehow if you can't get to the right person on the phone. Keep trying, don't give up.

    Just call me Bloated Betty...

I was banded exactly two weeks ago and I had alot of trouble the first two days with gas pain. I walked and walked and had my husband rub my back and even pound a little to get that gas moving. It worked really well.
  8. Saw that you were banded last Monday. How are you doing today?

    New 60+ Thread

Bimby - I am 60 and just had surgery on 3-14. We bounce back very well!! The first two days were hard for me because of gas pains, but that third day was a big step up. I felt really good, and then when I hit the one week mark, I was my old self again. I think it was pretty amazing how quickly I bounced back. You will do get. Best wishes.

Post op problems-- adults only please

I had surgery one week and five days ago and they didn't make me go potty before I went home either.

    post-op diet vindication!

I already love this band. I had surgery 3-14, not even two weeks, but I have gotten the attention of some "why don't you just diet" people. The first week after surgery liquid diet had me lose 11 pounds. Nice, I appreciate it. Then a few days ago I moved to my mushie stage. As soon as I moved to mushies, I stopped losing weight. When my friends saw my half-cup meals and water consumption, and I am not losing weight, they said "okay, there is something wrong with your body, maybe you did need the lapband." Thank you very much people!! I do love the lapband so much already. Not just for the losing weight, but for what it has done for my head. I cannot remember when I felt this good about me. A long time.

    New Bandster

Welcome - I am a new bandster as well. Surgery was 3-14. Took me about a week to be absolutely normal again, but here I am, very happy with my decision. I envy you, I had two days of alot of the gas pain. But that is all over and the future looks oh so good!!!!

    Your Aetna experience?

NeNe - somehow I missed your anouncement of approval last week. Yeah!!!!!!!! Awesome. You will be so happy you made this decision. I am only a week and a few days post-op, but I feel so happy mentally about doing this. I am soooo looking forward to this summer, knowing every month I will be a little lighter. I just can't believe the change in my head. When is your surgery date? Keep us posted.

    March 14th!

This day has really been a step up. Surgery was 3-14. I haven't taken any pain meds since Sat. Gas is for most part not an issue any longer. Just sore in the mid-section moving around. Get a little burpy even when I am just doing liquids, but I am making good progress in the feel good department. Get tired and need to rest from time to time. Each day seems to be an improvement now.

    New 60+ Thread

Hey guys, I was banded last Friday. After a couple of challenging days with the gas, I fell human again. However, I am very sore and tired. Normal for us "older folks" ? When is the next threshold of feeling better, a week? Just looking for something to look forward to.

    Your Aetna experience?

Had surgery two days ago. Had a tough time friday and Saturday, but at least feel human today.
  22. kossde - I also have Aetna POS II. I also sent photos of the last five years, they were dated digital pictures, and I also wrote a letter because I was concerned that my records from 2004 might not be found. (they eventually were and submitted) I had read on this forum back in the fall that someone else had done that, so I thought it was a great idea and couldn't hurt. I did have the 5 year history, BMI of 40, with two co-morbidites (sleep apnea & diabetes). Did the 3 month diet, did the psyc eval. even though it wasn't required, saw a nutritionist. My file was 42 pages long! And they took 4 weeks to approve me! Go figure. Like I have said before, never give up hope, you just don't know what the heck is going to happen, impossible to predict. I am so glad the requirements have changed for everyone coming after me.
  23. lonestar5212

    Your Aetna experience?

dogluvr - OMG I bet she is the one that handled my case that took 4 weeks to get approval!! Stay with it, it will come.
