  1. I had a boyfriend in college (that I really loved) that told me he couldn't be with me anymore because I was too heavy. Then he sarted dating a girl that looked like she was from under a rock- the chick even had a unibrow, a mustache and braces (not that there is anything wrong with braces)! I was really cute and fun in college! What the hell! The funny thing was, he wasn't handsome at all, and I thought I was doing him a favor:laugh:~!
  2. I can't imagine why your insurance company would make you fight so hard to get this done! You lost the weight of two average sized adults- what were they thinking??? Well I just want to say---YOU GO GIRL!!!!
  3. Three days was enough for me...and like you I took the week off. I am glad I did, but I was up to my regular self in three days! Becareful not to over do it because you do tire out quickly.
  4. Being noticed again does feel good!!!!!
  5. WOW JonathanLA, You've lost over 100lbs...that's great!!! Rock on wit' ya bad self!!!!
  6. Thank you ...and may you be called skinny too very soon!
  7. You may have taken too big of a bite and your food got stuck. My hint is either the full feeling, gurggling sounds from my chest, or tightness across my upper stomach.
  8. Yesterday my husband and I dropped by his cousins house to pick something up. I haven't seen my cousin in law in about a year in a half. When he saw us, he greeted my husband and looked at me and said" you are really skinny". I thought I heard him say that, but all I could do is stand there and smile while simultaneously think I weigh 197lbs, I'm not skinny! My husband kind of startled me out of my trance and said- Rodney gave you a compliment--laughing hysterically as if he were reading my mind! I quickly said thankyou and told him he looked good himself (he's been lifting weights and used to be skinny). I can't get over that. People who see me that hasn't seen me in a longtime WILL say to me things like " Wow you look good" or :you've lost alot of weight", but skinny...I've NEVER heard that in my life! The strange thing is I saw Rodney's brother the week before and he yelled across the store- "Oh my God, you've lost ALOT of weight"! That was embarassing. I still want to lose 20lbs pounds. I feel like I still have a ways to go! Oh well, I'll take the compliments however I get them!
  9. Thank you laurigee...and, I tried yours and others advice this week and whatta ya now- off came three pounds!!! Instead of doing the treadmill without inclines, I went for a walk around several "hilly" areas every night this week! YAY!
  10. I'm not trying to sound mean or anything, but PigsRFlying, it seems everyone that has lost fast was 300lbs and over. I've found those of us with "lower" BMI's, and exercise moderately-our weight takes a little longer to come off.
  11. I'm stuck at 60lbs also! What is it with that number???? I will try the suggestions given by others, but it's comforting to know it's not just me! I really wanted to be down atleast 80lbs by this time. My one year Bandiversary was 10/01/08..Oh well, i've never lost 60lbs in my life, and I haven't been under 100lbs in over 13 years (I'm at 198) so I'm still thankful! I'm gonna work hard to lose the next 30lbs. I think I just got comfortable!
  12. Maybe it's hormonal? Are there any banded men with the same problem? Today it took me 45min to get down oatmeal, but lunch was just fine (two or three small oxtails with two very small chopped up potatoes and three chopped pieces of carrots), dinner-1 small chicken wing and it's hard to swallow my own spit! I am ovulating (I know TMI) and I'm full as hell...what gives!!!!!
  13. How much did you lose before you had your reconstructive surgery? Was the reconstructive surgery recommended by your doc, or did you ask for it? I am almost 1 year, Post op and I've only lost 60lbs. I would like to wait until i've lost atleast 80lbs (because I'm not sure I'd ever reach the 100lbs weight loss mark), but I was wondering about when or if I should ask for a tummy tuck and breast lift. Right now my breast and pannius seem to have low self esteem. They just look toward the floor (causing slight back-aches and occasional rashes)!!!!Everything has seemed to drop with the weight! Any advice or comments are appreciated. Thanks:embaressed_smile:
  14. Please don't get discouraged it took eight or nine fills for me to hit my sweet spot! I am a slow loser....but it's working so, it is what it is!
  15. I use straws all the time. The reason I was told not to use straws is because you let air in - and you'll get gas AND it promotes gulping-which we all know is a no-no! I have no problem with straws, so I use them!
  16. I've never heard of that. If something gets stuck, I usually just throw it up with no effort. It just comes out- no heaving , no trying just bend over the john and---there it goes, (sorry to be so graphic)!
  17. .....uhhh, I'm not going to say that there aren't any doctors out there that wouldn't do that, but you may have a hard time finding one that will. Most doctors would NEVER intentionally overfill someone and then do adjustments based on "when they feel the water go down".
  18. It's gonna be awhile. Most docs are conservative with fills. The goal is to not overfill and have the patient be aware of what the feeling of being "full " feels like with the band. It is truly a process. I think I just reached my "sweet spot". It took 8 fills and I have a 4cc band. I am currently filled at 3cc's. Everyone is different though.
  19. I would say so..Oxford is really not that picky. As long as you have atleast three years they really don't hound you. I have Oxford and they approve ASAP!
  20. choclatesnaps, Girl you are a trip! I'm from East Harlem- 135th and Madison. You know what I am saying--5-20 blocks south and 2-3 avenues over. Umm hum!
  21. Chocolate Snaps, Washington Heights is not really "the Ghetto".....you know there are worse neighborhoods - that would REALLY be considered "ghetto" :- )
  22. I agree with Pix 100%. I can feel and see my port too. I was told that would happen when the weight started to come off. Your port is fine.
  23. I drink up to the time I put the food on my plate. When I'm ready to eat I put the cup in the fridge, eat, and then drink 30 mins after my meal.
  24. Witchbabe, That's up to your doctor AND it depends on how many cc's you band can hold.
