    Honeymoon phase?

It has to do with the physiological response the body goes through and the rapid weight loss in the first 6 months or so. It is easy at first. But then, you have to put a bit more work into it to get and maintain the results. ENJOY IT! It does end.
  2. I am SO glad to hear that! I didn't want to say it before; but what a jerK!
  3. GREAT story and well told! I just hope your husband is learning some lessons here as well.
  4. I am very impressed at how articulatly you described your problem with food!! Good job. I'm so happy that the demon has subsided. I still struggle with that. In fact, I'll eat KNOWING I'm over the limit. But I keep trying and am way better off then I was when I started at 241 lbs. Keep up the great job; and the wonderful posts!!
  5. I have raccoons that come up to my deck all the time. I give my left overs to them. I really enjoy watching them and it appeases all guilt of wasting good food. Best fed raccoons in the state!! But it helps me!

    Post-Op Fatigue

No way. Be kind to yourself and watch the game on TV
  7. 11 years post op. I still take it. Didn't for the first 5 years, but then I got ulcers. Taking it keeps me from getting the ulcers.
  8. I wasn't hungry at all. 10 years out and I can still say true hunger is rare. Could it be "head hunger"? You really need to explore this possibility. Drink more, maybe chew gum. Maybe you're not getting emough Protein, which helps prolong time between hunger pangs.
  9. Don't know if you're willing to travel, but.... I had Dr. Bernard Schuster in Hollywood, Fl (rt by Miami). Free consult; He has a website and he'll do consult via skype. I had breast, harsm, legs, arms, belly, circumferential lift and lipo. Long process, but I couldn't be more pleased. I traveled 3 hrs. each way for every appt. and it was SO worth it to me. Look him up!

    Party Pizza Meltdown

God, that made me laugh!!! Thanks. I remember early on; my brother was eating chicken from KFC with mac n cheese. I personally would have taken a fork full of chickena and speared some mac on the end of that. It was driving me NUTS that he was eating it "the wrong way"!!! I actually had to leave!!! and ESSkay77; yup! People weirded out around me, too!! I told them it was okay to eat. But it is so odd when they keep offering you stuff you can't have. They truly do NOT understand!! I did my surgery 10/29/03. I did make Christmas goodies that year and I even tasted little bits. But LITTLE bits. It was fine. That early on, I was strong enough in willpower to have a taste and get over it.
  11. PLEASE: Consult with your Dr. It's possible the pouch is stretched or the outlet has stretched. I was 241, 5'. Lost 108 lbs. and when I got back up to 195, I FINALLY consulted with my Dr. I was so afraid of being yelled at or turned away. He was awesome. I DID have to have a revision (this was at the 5 yr mark), but it was worth it to me. I just wish I hadn't waited so long!! I might have been able to avoid a second surgery if I had asked for help sooner. I, too, am a night grazer. I wish you the best. Please keep in touch.
  12. applesauce; but small amount as sugar might make you dump. OR; my mom used to just mix crushed meds in a large spoon with Water and sugar. Best to take them, though. Good luck.

    Need some advice

Here's a thought. That nurse is an IDIOT!! This is not normal. Insist on talking to the doctor!!! I'm sorry the nurse is not taking you more seriously or being more sympathtic. This is not right!

    Needs Encouragement

Where did you have your surgery done? It seems unreasonable to have to wait until 9/30 for surgical help. That being said, things will get better. There are a few times I agree with the statement "I fell like I did it to myself"; but when you start gaining control and reaping the benefits, you'll realize you did it FOR yourself. Best wishes.

    gallbladder woes

If they do GB surgery laparoscopically, it's no huge deal. It's only when they have to make an incision to do an open cholecystectomy that it's so painful. That's because they cut through layers of muscle; that's where the pain comes from. You can also ask for the drug to help avoid further stones. I think it's called actigal and it's supposed to help prevent stones. I lived with bad stones for over a year before having mine removed (that was in 1983; open; before gastric sx). Now a days, it seems they just want to rush you right to surgery. Ask about options or waiting. Depends on how bad you're feeling. Good luck.

Dry mouth post op 6 days

It's not abnormal. Keep drinking. sugar free popsicles can help as well. It gets better. Meanwhile, it's a great reminder to drink water!
  17. Count each lost hair as a victory along your journey. If you feel you need a wig, get one for now. Forget the rogaine. Your hair WILL grow back! It's a reaction to anesthesia and rapid weight loss and it just is what it is. If you're getting your Protein or not, it's going to happen. You will be beautiful with a new hairstyle for now!!
  18. 10 yrs post rny; 5 yrs post revision. Past 8 months or so, get pain after eating. Relieved only by vomitting thick, copious amounts of clear mucous. It's NOT the foamies. It's the consistency of karo syrup. Dr. ordered UGI, CT and even an endoscopy and no answers. Anybody have something similar. I wouldn't mind if I could lose some weight from it, but I don't! Sometimes I'm fine; sometimes I get pain and vomit. No pattern. Very frustrated.
